Ateliers & Saveurs classes have become one of our favorite events while vacationing in Montreal. Last week (Feb 2025), my wife & I enjoyed 3 different classes on 3 different days. First, the Weekend Cocktail class at the TimeOut Market in Eaton Center. Theo was great. Very expert in his work, but also playful & welcoming to people who are shaky with a bottle in hand. Next, an evening cooking class featuring Jerk-chicken & Caribbean style rice with Josh at the Vieux-Port location. Finally, a classic southern France cuisine class with grilled duck breast & ratatouille, also with Josh. Both of the evening meals offered wine by the glass, which was great. As Americans, we enjoyed interacting with all of our new Canadian friends, who were very welcoming. These classes are a great way to relax, have some fun, learn some things, eat some good food, & make some new friends.
Speaking a little French is helpful, but not required. I was happy to have an opportunity to practice mine with the staff & guests. Be prepared to interact with others. It appears more common that guests come in pairs or groups. If you come as a single, be prepared to introduce yourself & interact with the other guests. You will be cooking side by side & together so it is important to be social. If you don't interact with others, you won't have nearly as much fun.
