After hearing rave reviews about Arthur's Nosh Bar, especially their famed cottage cheese pancakes, we were excited to finally visit the location at Le Cathcart. We happened to be nearby, hungry, & eager to see if it lived up to the hype. Although we didn't have a reservation, we managed to snag a table despite the restaurant being quite full. I would recommend making a reservation, as it's clearly a popular spot, & for good reason. Upon seating us, the staff politely let us know that the kitchen was closing in ten minutes. However, they assured us that as long as we placed our order quickly, we could take our time to enjoy the meal. This kind of thoughtful service left a great first impression. We ordered mimosas to start while we waited for our food. We opted for a selection of their most popular dishes: latkes, fries with malt vinegar, scrambled eggs, &, of course, the famous cottage cheese pancakes. Everything arrived promptly, & the quality of the food was outstanding. Each dish was flavorful & carefully prepared. The latkes were crispy & perfectly seasoned, the scrambled eggs were soft & creamy, & the fries with malt vinegar were a delightfully nostalgic touch. The pancakes truly stole the show-light, fluffy, & packed with flavor, they more than lived up to their reputation. The portions aren't overly large, but that's part of the charm-it encourages ordering a variety of dishes to share, which worked out perfectly for us. If you're visiting with another person, I'd highly recommend going this route to sample more of their delicious offerings.View more
The food was tasty but I found overall that this place is overhyped & overpriced. Nothing about my experience blew me away. I would say if you're looking for fun, less common brunch food like latkes & beef bacon it's worth a visit but otherwise I've had better.View more
View more
We ordered a Latke smograsbord, I like the scrambled egg of it, which is creamy, but the bread was too hard. The other one we order was pancake with buleberry, the pancake was normal & the sauce was too sweet for me. envirnment was good, you can choose a place under the transparent roof & enjoy the sunlight.View more
The food was good but better at the main location in St Henri. The service was awful - not only slow but the orders came mixed up. Slowness is not ideal at lunch time when your main clientele is office workers on lunch. My friend asked for an iced coffee with oat milk & got it black, I ordered a coffee that I never got (& realized only as I was leaving that I was charged the $4 for a filtered coffee I never received...). No one came to check on us after our food came. The food was good & standard for Arthur's. Irritated about spending a combined $10+ on coffee & both orders being wrong/no shows. I wouldn't come back here. Visit the OG location for the proper experience. $67 for two lunches (breakfast sandwich & smorgasbord), two coffees & a $10 side of latkes (2, which were each about the circumference of a tangerine) feels a bit excessive when service is terrible.View more
Went for a light lunch after walking the Vieux Carré. Shared a Thai-like green papaya salad with local of other ingredients & scrambled eggs, latke, challah & cucumber salad, all tasty & well prepared. This is a sit down restaurant amid a food court.View more
I think the pancakes are just as amazing as the og location, & this spot is very convenient since they can have more guests & it's not insanely crowded. Though the atmosphere of the og can't be beat in homeliness, cathcart is a nice space & great service 🙂↕️ My absolute favorite pancakes in the city, i get syrup on the side however since it can be a little artificial tasting imo & I like to control the proportions. I recommend the latke always as wellView more
I have been to both locations & though I do think the original location has better quality food, the location & PVM is convenient for those who work downtown. I do caution however it is very hard to find if you've never been to the new food court at PVM. I like that this location allows you to make reservations, however if you do not show up there potentially could be a fee charged to you since you need a credit card to hold your reservation. Despite the location, this restaurant was very baby & kid friendly & the hostess sat is in an area where we were able to easily store our double stroller, which was much appreciated. The service was also a big slow but we came during lunch rush so it was understandable. The latke smorgasbord is a must for your first visit as well as the cottage cheese pancakes. My sons who are 2 & 4 are everything!View more
Great venue & terrific food. I had the latkes smorgasbord which was delicious. The smoked salmon, challah bread, latkes & eggs were all really good. Will go back!
Good food. Excellent service. My eggs were done perfectly, & Arthur's has the best grilled salami in the city. The challah roll & latke were equally tasty. The only reason not to give the restaurant 5 stars is the very bad coffee. It was weak &, at best, lukewarm. My friend & I asked for our cups to be replaced, but the 2nd cups were no warmer. This is a major flaw considering that breakfast/brunch items are a specialty of Arthur's. Also, my friend was bothered by the fact that a fork that had fallen on the floor a few paces from us was not picked up. by anyone. After a half hour or so he stood up & picked it up himself
The service was extremely bad & ridiculously slow. Took almost 20 minutes to get coffee. The food was good but the latkes weren't hot & didn't taste fresh. Maybe it was a fluke because it was right before Christmas. I do hope Arthur's Cathcart starts to open on the weekends going forward. It's always busy so why not?!
We loved Arthur's at Le Cathcart! The food was excellent, the boozy brew was a delightful morning beverage, & the service was awesome. Would definitely recommend. We had the challah with butter & honey, which was drool-inducing, the shakshuka - perfectly balanced flavor, & the latke special - delightful, filling, & perfectly salty with the caviar. We'd be back if we were local!
Food was good as usual but the wait ?! One hour waiting for our lunch after ordering got the latkes after finishing my plate & had to wait another 20min for pancakes.
