The food is delicious! There are several vegetarian options, everything is gluten-free, & their guacasa (sp?) avocado sauce you put on everything is to die for! I was also really impressed with their sangria tonight. Absolutely delicious & we'll always go back!
Ma parole c'est vraiment trop bon leur cuisine. Pas de photos j'ai atomisé l'assiette instantanément. Foncez.
I prefer Arepera over the other arepa restaurants on the plateau. They have a simple selection of plates & dishes that makes it easy to choose (there's basically one or two kinds of arepa per type of protein). Unlike some of the other places, Arepera always seems to be consistent in the quality of their dishes & sauces, so if you're a creature of habit that is also a plus. It's also a certified Gluten-free establishment, I believe, so they only serve GF dishes, & drinks (like GF beer), & there is no risk of cross contamination for people who are celiac. The only couple of downsides to this place are: 1. The restaurant itself is a bit stark. Despite having bright walls, nice art, & church pews as entryway benches, it's basically just one giant room with cafeteria style tables. There's very little privacy & the sound echoes quite a bit so you can hear other people's conversations quite clearly. It also feels really chilly in the winter, so if you're a fan of cozy this probably isn't the place for you. 2. They don't do delivery anymore (it's been a few years since they stopped, but this review is long overdue), so if you want to order in, you have to go to the restaurant & get takeout. I still think it's worth it if you're craving arepas. 😁
Little disappointed as we had high expectations about arepas & the dishes at this restaurant were not on line with its word by mouth reputation. Maybe it is not the business fault, because my past experience was with arepas hand made in person by a good chef. We all know food products sometimes need to be done with a standardized process instead of a too costly customised one. Dessert made justice of everything, they were really good. Service was ok. The environment was ok too with the exception of the restroom which for me has to be extremely cleaned.
Arepera has been a staple for me for a while now, so it's about time I finally wrote a review. Their avocado sauce is so good I'd give up my first born child to know the recipe. You can't go wrong with any of the arepas, but my favorite might be pabellon (with beans & plantains). This is a must try location!!! Also great for gluten free folks as arepas are made with corn.
One of my favourite restaurants when visiting MTL, food is consistent & flavourful!
They have ripe fried plantains, which I've been craving. The arepa I had was great, & the salsas were tasty! But the plantains were the highlight for me.
I get the Domino Platano with Avocado every time. It's a really filling, affordable, & authentic vegetarian option always made fresh with the loveliest consistencies. It tasted divine when drenched in the chili & avocado sauces. Also such a cozy spot with fast & kind service.
Great space, love the food, happy we had space to seat many ppl without having to feel cramp
C'est toujours super bon! C'est frais & copieux. Je le recommande!!
Good prices, not that much choice though, & for me the vegetarian options weren't the best.
Totally recommend this place. They used to be on rue Duluth, but they have now moved to rue Prince-Arthur to a much more spacious location. Food is authentic & tasty. You can see that the owner keeps an eye on the service & the food quality, I think that is one of the reasons why they've been so successful. We have now moved to the Laurentides, but we always try to stop at the Arepera whenever we go downtown. If you haven't tried it, you are missing out!
