I was referred to Archway, & enthusiastically for brunch! I was super excited to try the Benedict. If I'm ever brave enough to eat butter & eggs again, I'm all over eggs benny. So, a GREAT vegan restaurant with a vegan benny? Cool. Except...the coolness of the "no egg" was outweighed by the overpowering sweetness of the jackfruit (sort of unsurprising as jackfruit can be a bit too much,) the chipotle was undetectable & the sauce tasted nothing like hollandaise, not even a near-but-vegan sort of thing. I feel I was upsold on their mimosa--albeit a cocktail version--& all I really wanted was some fresh squeezed oj. But, my bad, I didn't read that their mimosa was not MY mimosa. Interesting, but again so sickly sweet it was overpowering. Next time I'm in town, I'm going for dinner!
Went for a late brunch. The staff was very nice. Juice of the day was so delicious & refreshing. I also enjoyed my bagel blt.
Merci !
I really like their food but last time I ate here the food was so hot I literally got a second degree burn on my face that last almost 2 months of scarring. I told the server & she just said "oh". When my partner said "I don't think you understand. This is a serious burn. This would seriously hurt a child!" She said "oh I'll let the kitchen know". No comp or anything. We haven't returned since. Truthfully I am vegan & go to vegan restaurant for this reason. But the customer service in Montreal, especially at vegan places seems to be sub zero par & it's getting to the point I don't want to support bad restaurants anymore.
Archway is a mid-tier vegan restaurant serving up classic western dishes that are fully plant-based & delicious. The restaurant is cozy, adorned with house plants that really bring out a sense of calmness while dining. My friend decided to split their Lion's Mane Mushroom Kaarage ($19) along with their Truffle Fettuccini ($29) & the Maitake Steak ($28). We absolutely loved the mushrooms as they were perfectly battered & fried, & you don't often find lion's mane mushrooms in restaurants. For the mains, the fettuccini was the standout with the slight hint of truffles being used to elevate the flavor. Our Maitake mushroom steak was okay as well. I felt it lacked some depth in flavor & relied heavily on the sauce laid underneath, which was still delicious. The polenta sticks accompanying the mushrooms were food too. I would stick with the kaarage & noodles for this one. We also ended the meal with their Baklava Pear ($14) which was aromatic, sweet, & a great way to end the meal. Prices are a bit steeper than I like but it was still great to experience one of the best vegan restaurants in town. Reservations are a must.
Vegan must see.
Best vegan meal I have ever eaten. Everything was delicious. Even the small plates were generous portions. Don't skip dessert!
