I have never encountered a venue so disrespectful, unprofessional, & operating under such illegal practices. I will never step foot in this place again, & I strongly advise everyone to avoid it. Here is the breakdown of the disgraceful treatment we experienced:
1. Customer Disrespect & Discrimination: The staff member/waiter was completely checked out from their job because they were too busy flirting with a blonde female customer & a male customer. When we called them over to place our order, they gave us a condescending, degrading look & completely ignored our table. Treating paying customers with this level of arrogance is unacceptable.
2. False Operating Hours: Although their official Google listing states they are open until 3:00 AM, staff came to our table at 12:30 AM & demanded,'We are closing, pay your bill,' forcing us to leave. If you shut down at midnight, why lure people in with misleading information? This is a blatant case of deceptive consumer practices.
3. Unbearable & Heavy Atmosphere: The noise level inside was illegally loud, & the overall atmosphere felt incredibly heavy & suffocating.
4. Bribery & Illegal Smoking Offer: The absolute worst part happened when a staff member approached us & explicitly solicited a bribe, stating:'If you give me $20 under the table, you can smoke inside.' Asking for a cash bribe to bypass indoor smoking bans is completely outrageous.
NOTICE & LEGAL WARNING TO MANAGEMENT:
This establishment does not just neglect basic customer service; it actively violates provincial laws.
Permitting indoor smoking-& soliciting a bribe to do so-is a severe offense subject to heavy administrative fines under the Quebec Tobacco Control Act (Loi sur le tabac).
Displaying misleading operating hours to the public directly violates the Quebec Consumer Protection Act (Loi sur la protection du consommateur).
I will be formally reporting this unacceptable bribery solicitation, the operating hours violation, & the indoor smoking breaches to the relevant government authorities & local municipality, including the RACJ (Régie des alcools, des courses & des jeux) & the Ministry of Health & Social Services (MSSS). Do not waste your hard-earned money at a place that treats you with contempt while running under-the-table schemes.
The hostess is very bad, she has no manners at all. Last night my friends & I went there, she was behaving as if we had come there for free, she was saying that you should sit where you have been made to sit, when I have made you sit, whom did you ask before getting up… we are not kids got it. I don't know her name, if I knew, I would definitely mention it here. She is so disgusting. Arabesque is good but their 1-2 hostesses have spoiled the place.
Terrible! SCAM! Avoid it! Just like the previous reviews said, the service is badd! The servers are not paying attention at all to their customers...waited almost 30mins to get my bill on a non busy hour of the night when half of the place was filled. The worst part is the culture of being suddenly very rude & banning anyone not willing to pay their so said mandatory %15 tip. Owner/manager arguing, even insisted it a Quebec law to pay a minimum %15. It is not a law, maybe a courtesy...People should be allowed to tip however much they would like with no minimum amount. This culture will end up chasing away all new clients, destroying the business.
