About

Aquinta specializes in authentic Portuguese cuisine with a primary focus on charcoal-grilled specialties and fresh seafood preparations. The menu features traditional dishes centered around flame-seared proteins seasoned with robust Mediterranean aromatics. Patrons encounter a culinary selection emphasizing high-quality Atlantic fish and expertly prepared poultry dishes finished over an open grill. The preparation methods prioritize the natural flavors of the ingredients through heat-based cooking techniques typical of coastal Portuguese cooking traditions. Every plate reflects a commitment to classic flavor profiles, avoiding unnecessary complexity in favor of straightforward, bold taste profiles. The internal atmosphere aligns with the culinary approach, providing a functional and focused environment where the food remains the singular attraction for those seeking genuine Portuguese grilling expertise and high-quality oceanic delicacies.

Review Summary

Aquinta is widely regarded as a standout neighborhood destination in Montreal, frequently praised for its authentic, charcoal-grilled Portuguese cuisine, particularly the succulent chicken, tender ribs, and expertly prepared octopus. Diners consistently highlight the generous portion sizes, exceptional value for money, and a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes it a favorite for families and social gatherings. While the vast majority of experiences are positive, with guests often commending the friendly and efficient staff, some visitors have noted occasional challenges regarding noise levels, limited space, or instances of being rushed during peak hours. Despite these minor inconsistencies, the restaurant maintains a loyal following, with many patrons returning repeatedly for the high-quality food, professional service, and overall festive vibe.

First we were treated to a dance by a brazilian belly dancer & finished the night being sarranaded by a very king & charismatic older gentleman playing an accoustic guitar.
The steak was cooked to perfection on their charbroil grill & the seafood soup had an entire lobster tail as well as 4 or 5 other varieties of seafood in it. & the sauce was excellent!! These guys realy know how to cook seafood right!!!

I had purchased a coupon on line for A Quinta. I had called & was told that they served Paella & was looking forward to it. I went with my son, he ordered the Portuguese steak, he wanted to try something new, the steak was not good, we called the waiter over & he said he would change it for a Tbone, he came back & said sorry no more Tbone, would you like lamb chops, my son agreed & was served fresh meat I obviously ordered the paella I was looking forward to. It was the first time I ever had paella in tomato sauce, it was eatable but that's as far as I am going to go on the compliments. I truly have nothing good to say about this restaurant, we eat out a few times a month & this is the WORST restaurant I have ever been to.
