Afficher toutpasta(41) italian(35) fresh(16) recommend(15) brunch(15) salad(12) dishes(12) lasagna(11) dessert(11) quality(10) highly recommend(9) sauce(9)Our server was extremely polite & efficient. The food was barely average, especially for what they are charging. We had the chicken parm. The breast was stringy & the sauce was not aribiata as ordered. The Caesar salad was far from what I have had in other local restaurants, some not even designated as Italian.
I came here with my lovely, exotic, wifey material, stay at home mother of a vietnamese wife. We were walking last month, on Monkland, to run some errands at Provigo while I explained how Provigo is deeply rooted in québécois culture, since my wife was adopted at eleven years old by my adorable in-laws Micheline & Joseph & I would love for her to appreciate my culture & to lose her oriental accent to fully integrate into our society. I'm sure anyone reading my review feels the same. Also, my useless son was staying at his buddy Étienne's house after his break up with the little korean girl that I liked. Although, I noticed my son seems much happier with Étienne than he was when he dated the little girl, & he spends more time at his buddy's house nowadays. Since he's been coming home really late (1 AM) recently, I think I will send him off to conversion camp at church this summer, so he meets some nice caucasian ladies to mingle with.
Long story short, we stumbled upon this restaurant & I decided to check it out. My wife did not feel acknowledged by the staff. I tried to explain to her that Italians are naturally aloof to coloured people & that she should get used to it. However, after having to wait a whole hour between arriving to the restaurant & getting our food on the table despite my presence (as you may have guessed from my name, I am German-Canadian from my grandfather's side), I think the issue simply resides within management. Fix this. Our San Pellegrino drinks were not too good either. The water also had an unclean, Polish water taste, as if a Pole had dipped the glass in sausage & Surströmming water beforehand. Fix this please.
Anyway, my wife ordered the truffle noodles. I loved how she struggled with pronouncing the name with her cute oriental accent! You should have been there, she sounded like she was saying'fétuchiné foongui ay tartoofo'! I ordered the lasagna. Although I am a man, I do not see why us men should be the quote unquote provider; the prices were a little steep to my liking. I preach equality between men & natural women. My lady & I agreed that it would be a little hard to split the bill properly, so we chose not try each other's food. Although I obviously did not get to try the truffle fettuccine, my wife said it was yummy, but a little heavy. I thought her portion was a bit small, but I guess it will help her maintain her slim figure, amirite 😂. I also wanted to order a salad for myself, but after seeing the 23$ price tag, I decided against getting it. A 23$ salad is something only a dumb person like my good for nothing son would buy to impress his quote unquote buddy Étienne. Meanwhile, my lasagna was delicious! I'm glad I did not share a single bite with the wife, I wolfed it down so fast, I was done before her little eyes could blink.
I did not want to tip, but I felt obliged to as I am a sucker for pretty waitresses. I paid about 40 something dollars. Will not come back until tip is abolished. FIX IT. A copy of this review will be sent to you by email if you wish.
English will follow:
========
Service is a very bad joke.
It is slow & we had to wave at the waiter many times to get noticed & order.
The food itself came out fast, so that's a plus.
I took the spaghetti carbonara. It was a disaster. The eggs were not only scrambled but spots on them were burnt. The sauce was nothing close to creamy as it should be.
A positive note le was the Ceasar salad. Quite good, but it was huge, even as an appetizer.
If you are from the neighborhood, go to Pasta Casa Recchia.
Furthermore, one of the waiter did not speak French, & barely English.
Service was so slow at every step even to get menus. Asked twice to have glass of water. Wait to get somebody take the order. 1 hour to get the entree (Caesar salad !).
Food was ok.
Overall experience was not pleasant while paying 100% !
Je nes pas aimé du tout trop cher pas de pain pas de salade la lasagne & les boulettes en entrée goûtait la même chose très déçue
Kudos to the chef! For lunch at AF I tried the fried oyster mushroom sandwich & it was outstanding. Came with a tasty salad. The tower of a sandwich must be eaten with fork & knife because it's about 5' tall. Now I understand why they are called Oyster mushrooms... tasted a little like fried oysters.
Delicious & a very good value these days for a great meatless meal ($21) Sorry I didn't take a photo of this beautiful dish.
The food is excellent... from the veal meatballs, to the chicken arugula salad to the pasta dishes...every meal is delicious!!
I just ordered the aglio e olio & ceaser salad from Uber eats. Pasta was good abit overcooked. Very very disappointed that the ceaser salad came with a big peace of some sort of bacon. I don't eat bacon & the ingredient list didn't mention it. $22 in the garbage
I tried Aqua E Farina once, I liked the atmosphere & the wall paintings there, taking you to Italy & the past. They have good Italian dishes. I took gluten free gnocchi. It was good but a bit greasy for me. My friend took Caesar salad & a soup (can't recall its name) & they were tasty. The waiter was nice. All in all my experience was good. Go & give it a try as I saw they have many interesting Italian dishes😊
Pleasant neighborhood restaurant. Great service & good food. Arancini, burata salad & chicken parmigiana were spot on.
