Amigo Restaurant is widely celebrated as a hidden gem offering delicious, authentic Chinese cuisine characterized by generous portion sizes and excellent value for money. Many guests appreciate the quick, friendly service and the cozy, family-like atmosphere that makes it a reliable favorite for both casual diners and large groups. While the entrance may appear unassuming, the consistent quality of standout dishes like their signature salt and pepper pork chops keeps visitors returning for years. Despite some minor notes regarding the ordering process or billing transparency, the overall consensus highlights a high level of satisfaction with the flavorful food and attentive staff, making it a highly recommended spot for those seeking a comforting and affordable meal.

The food came out very quickly after we ordered & the price was really good, the staff were friendly & attentive. The food itself was also yummy, but a little bit too greasy even for chinese food.

Don't let the strange name fool you. This place is FAR more authentic & better-tasting than the dumpling house next door (we walked over after being disappointed by the food there). Service was incredibly quick & kind as well.

It's a real shame they get so little traffic compared to the other restaurants on the block. It's probably my favorite Chinese restaurant in central Montreal.

practice saying these words before entering the restaurant:

'i'd like the salt & pepper pork chops please'

then you'll do this:
1. open the super unassuming door
2. go up the narrow staircase
3. say hi to the aquarium
4. get seated
5. look at the menu & get confused by the section that's in complete chinese with zero english
6. say the words you practiced before entering

follow all of this & you'll have a blast

Somewhat authentic Chinese food. #29 Boeuf avec légumes Chinois/ Beef Filet with Chinese
Vegetables is good. Beef is tender. Vegetables are fresh. However, the other dish we ordered is slightly undercooked.

I don't think I had tasted real Chinese food before this place. Was so delicious I haven't stopped thinking about it since I left Montreal.
