From the team behind Ristorante Beatrice, Améa is a Mediterranean-inspired gourmand resto / pizzeria + coffee shop nestled within Montreal’s historic Maison Alcan building.
Derived from the French word "âme" meaning soul, Améa is an ode to the vision, warmth and heart behind our menu.
Améa Café se présente comme un espace vaste et élégant, avec une ambiance cosy et lumineuse qui invite aussi bien à travailler qu’à se détendre, et une offre variée de boissons, de pâtisseries et de plats méditerranéens où chaque détail visuel semble soigné. Les avis mettent en avant des desserts et des viennoiseries frais et créatifs, des croissants pistache et des croissants supreme, un café de qualité et des options brunch ou lunch appréciables, parfois complétés par des pizzas ou des plats nourrissants. Le cadre attire par ses nombreuses places et ses zones dédiées au travail ou au calme; toutefois la fréquentation peut être bruyante et les files d’attente longues, et certaines portions sont jugées petites ou les prix élevés pour ce qu'elles apportent. Four years in a row Montreal has been part of our story & here we are again. Every year without exception, we find ourselves back at this cafe, sitting with our coffee & croissant, savoring the moment. It's more than just a breakfast ritual. It's a tradition we look forward to every single time.
When we return to Türkiye the taste that lingers in our memories & on our palates is always what we enjoyed right here. Some flavors stay with you. This one travels across continents with us. Already looking forward to the next visit. 🥐☕✨
Bonne nourriture, j'aime la pizza, la soupe & les salades. jamais goûté les dessert mais tout donne envie. cependant LE BRUIT mais le bruit infernal. des enfants qui pleurent des gens qui parlent tous à haute voix c'est insupportable. auparavant cet endroit était bien fréquenté & très correct mais maintenant c'est compliqué
This café has a very cozy & attractive atmosphere, making it a great place to relax or work on your laptop, especially given its location in the heart of downtown. The environment is cool & well-designed, & the food presentation is also visually appealing.
However, the portions are quite small,basically suitable for just one person. You may also need to wait for a table, as it can get busy. Additionally, some menu items sell out quickly; for example, the blueberry pancake was already unavailable by 1:30 PM.
Overall, it's a great spot for the ambiance, food design, & working with a laptop, but keep in mind the limited portions & menu availability.
I love the place-it's beautiful, & the service is good-but honestly, I see a major downside: the prices are excessively high for the extremely tiny portions they serve. If you're hungry, this is not a recommended place to come. A plate of gnocchi is basically just a spoonful; I finished it in two seconds & was still hungry. It doesn't come with absolutely anything, just a simple basil leaf & a pinch of cheese. I won't come back here to eat-maybe for a coffee, yes-but to spend my money & leave hungry is simply not worth it for me.

Absolutely beautiful decor, the coffee was great, & the ambiance was very nice! I went there to study with a friend & have no complaints. They do have signs saying no laptops on the main table between 12-2pm, but even during that time there are other spots that you can sit at if you want to continue working.
I will definitely be coming back to try out their brunch menu!
Used to be a cute study space but now they do not allow laptops at tables. Food is served room temp & they often get orders wrong. I got a handful of gnocchi for $25. Definitely served more for looks than for taste, & so expensive. Honestly disappointed…
Bon endroit pour prendre un café à Montréal. Il y a souvent beaucoup de monde, ce qui peut entraîner un peu d'attente pour recevoir la nourriture.
Le service reste néanmoins rapide & bien organisé. La nourriture est apportée à table, contrairement aux boissons qu'il faut aller chercher au comptoir.
J'ai goûté le croissant au jambon, qui était très bon & bien préparé. Une bonne adresse pour une pause café.

Excellent vibes, artistic interior design & wide space. Very cozy environment to chat & work, or just to chill out alone. Kids & adults all have place to stay & find their comfortable zone. Fair price with well attentive staff. Sandwiches is freshly made so during weekend rush hour could be a bit slow, yet pizzas are faster from my observation. Coffee service was efficient. Very innovative & artistic style bathroom as well. Gender neutral.
It's great place for desserts in a well-designed huge sitting area. Friendly staff. Eclair raspberry tasted amazing not too sweet. Burrata crostinis is a great visual open-bread with natural seasoning in a small portion. a bit pricy not fulfilled. it's different from the original burrata.
Quel bel endroit où travailler, échanger tout en se régalant. Une cuisine méditerranéenne très bien exécutée à prix doux. Ces restaurateurs ont transformé un lieu sans âme en cantine sympathique pour les entrepreneurs en médias & en tech montréalais. & même si ce n'est pas votre cas, ne manquez pas de vous frayer une place. C'est inspirant & délicieux.
Came here for breakfast & thought my food was just ok & seemed a bit expensive for what it was. Wife got the mushroom danish & a coffee & loved both of them. I got a cinnamon roll (room temp) & a mushroom crostini. Was not impressed with the cinnamon roll as it tasted a bit stale. The crostini was pretty good, but can't say I would ever get it again. Overall, I didn't love this place for a main course, but would be willing to give it another shot for pastry. Also, the building is really cool & the service was good, so more of an issue with the food vs the place in general.
Endroit de restauration sympathique & atypique. Clientèle variée & aménagement de tables original permettant de créer des espaces intimes & chaleureux, selon l'envie du moment. L'offre alimentaire est excellente ; fraîcheur & saveurs sont au rendez-vous. Le service peut tâtonner quand il y a bcp de monde mais l'assiette, le café & les pâtisseries pardonnent largement !
I specifically asked for syrup in my latte & paid extra for it, but it was served without it...on top of that, very messy disorganized service, staff all over the place, no one doing their job, they look visibly lost & confused, no one can tell where the line starts, who was here first, staff having trouble understanding BOTH FRENCH & ENGLISH....how are we supposed to get our wait & money's worth? ever heard 9f training, proper organization & professionalism? CHAOTIC PLACE & teams
