Unfortunately the quality of the fish has dropped in past orders & the rice texture is off. On the other hand, prices have increased. A maki at $20+ can't be average.View more
This is definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants i have ever been to. It is creative & elegant. The food had amazing vibrant colors & also taste amazing. I would love to go back here!
We ordered the Pétoncles & Avocat & it was soo simple yet delicious. This was my favorite item!
The chicken Katsu was very delicious. I loved the crispyness of the Katsu. It added a nice texture to it.
The sashimi was so delicious & good quality. You can tell the difference between good quality sashimi & mediocre quality. Presentation is good too.View more
We had dinner here for our 20th anniversary & the food was sublime, & service was attentive. Excellent experience & cannot be compared to all you can eat sushi. The quality here is at a higher level, fine dining experience. The dessert was a decadent rich chocolate mousse topped with vanilla ice cream & chocolate sauce. We left very happy.View more
January 5, 2025- Excellent! We have been eating there more or less regularly for five years. We went back on January 5, 2025 & it is always as EXCELLENT. The tables are sufficiently spaced - The level of background music is in good taste- so you can spend a very nice time with friends while enjoying excellent sushi & other Japanese specialties. The staff is very attentive to your customer's needs. That is the best place in the West Island to eat great sushi & invite friends. Prices have increased as everywhere else, but they reasonably increased & the high quality of food & service as well justify this increase - The same thing cannot be said of other restaurants (sushi or else) where the bill is enormously increased without improving neither the quality of meals nor the service. & when these places have INCREASED the bill a little bit, they have greatly REDUCED the quality of meals, the quantity of what is in your plate & the service. Do the math & you'll understand what is reasonable & what is not.View more
2025 dine-in: the combo for two was pretty basic but filling. Quality was pretty much the same as an all you can eat place. Pretty decor. Friendly service though didn't explain which rolls were which. The cover songs were a little annoying though. The pink Sayuri sake was a nice side, though the SAQ has it for less than half the price. 2024 delivery: Got the initiation combo. The non fried rolls were warm & the restaurant is not far away. Did not follow instructions to not provide chopsticks or soy sauce. The rolls themselves were alright, seemed a little much for the quality price but it was definitely filling. Bunny orange slice is a cute presentation addition.View more
The best place for sushi. The food is fresh, tasty & the presentation A1. The staff is simply the kindest, very polite & respectful. On top of it the owner is really a true gentlemen that cares about his customer. Not the same quality... rude service & not fresh as before. I'm sad because that was the place we like the most. I think the owner sold.View more
Sushi is fresh & well made. Environ is clean & simple, professional. Service sometimes lacks attentiveness but is kind & welcoming. Reasonable prices for the quality & location. I make it a point to eat here when visiting - very enjoyable.View more
Excellent food quality, nice variety, impeccable service, & nice upscale ambiance.View more
This is our go-to sushi place on the west island. Always decent quality for the price. I am not going to say it is the best nor are some of the more exotic preparations the tastiest, but it is fresh & not overpriced with pleasant service. The table d'hôte meals are reasonably priced & satisfying.
The sushi was not of the same quality & freshness as in the past visits. Was extremely disappointed with my visit for the price I paid
I ordered the sushi sashimi combo from the lunch menue. Surprisingly good quality of fish.
We have visited Aikawa many times over the years when it was located in the back end of a strip mall on Brunswick & now finally had a chance to try them in their (relatively) new digs in the Galeries des Source mall, with a huge sign facing the highway. The resto is quite large following an'L' shaped pattern with a long sushi bar at the entrance & a large number of tables on the side & to the back, including a large private room at the back. A nice touch is the tv screen showing examples of their specialty sushi maki rolls...certainly helped us to make our decisions. For food, we had Miso Soup (a classic...no issues) & the Green Salad (OK...the dressing was not mixed into the leaves enough), as well as Edamame to start. For our mains, Chicken Teriyaki (served on a sizzling skillet...very good although the portion size has reduced over the years), & a large sushi plate (Hamachi, Magura & Sake...all very fresh fish, definitely not from frozen...& all very good), The West Island, Spicy Salmon & Twister...which also were very good. All in all, I was very happy with the sushi quality & presentation. The only (nominal) downside is the ambiance of the restaurant. While the décor is very nice it seems a bit sterile or at least lacks a measure of warmth. Not sure why, just a sense we had but that did not take away from either the food or the service. Definitely worth a visit. Enjoy!View more
I recently dined at this restaurant & had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The ambiance was inviting, the service provided by the staff, particularly Renee, was exceptional, she was AMAZING indeed 💕👌 & the culinary offerings were nothing short of impressive. From appetizers to dessert, each dish was expertly prepared with a delightful burst of flavors. The extensive menu catered to a variety of preferences, & the presentation was top-notch. The attention to detail in both the decor & the cuisine showcased a commitment to quality. Moreover, the barman, David, skillfully crafted drinks that complemented the overall dining experience. The staff's attentiveness & genuine enthusiasm added a personal touch, making the visit memorable. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a delightful culinary journey. It's a place where every aspect, from service to cuisine, is meticulously curated for a fantastic dining adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here & look forward to returning.View more
New location lacks the level of ambience that the old location had. Very ordinary. It takes away from the high quality of food. It was an experience before. Not you go just for the food & put up with the ambience.
Service was good but in our case it would have been better to serve us more platters at the same time. That way, we would have all been eating together as a group.
THE best sushi in the West Island. We have been going there for years & the quality of the food & the service are always great
Aikawa is by far the best sushi restaurant we have experienced. We love the ambience of the restaurant. The new restaurant feels more intimate & although it was very busy the evening we were there, the design allows for easy conversation. The staff are always professional, polite & welcoming. The quality of the food is unsurpassed. It is our go to restaurant for special occasions.
As usual we only order from the chefs specialities & as always Great sushi. Despite the high quality there are a few items to note. The atmosphere is not as pleasant at the new location. The increase in pricing is unjustifiably considerable when the new location attracts more & new clients as well as paying lesser rent! For the first time one of our guests had the pleasure of finding a large fish scale in her portion of the shared meal.
For years, & still to this day, this is my favorite sushi place. We now live in Eastern Ontario, & this is the place we come back to eat sushi. The sushi is definitely high-end quality, creative & fresh. Service is impeccable, & the decor is discrete & elegant. Recommending it highly.
Lovely evening, the food was excellent quality & the choice on the menu was huge. The ambiance is great & the service was very good. We will be back again soon!
Excellent sushi & specialties. This place is always good & quality is constant. Our server, David, was so pleasant & made our evening extra special
I have eaten at this establishment for many many years. They have always been the top of the food chain for sushi in the west Island & further afar. Last night was no exception as the service was as awesome as the food was creatively fresh & tasty. Rene was a real pleasure to have serving our table with her wit & knowledge. The food was new for our two guests & they could not express how astonished they were at the quality & taste. They as will we shall return more & more often. Next visit we will be bringing others who have since heard of our guests gastronomic delight & are as such looking forward to experiencing this jewel of the West Island.
Used to be better quality food. For sure, better for lunch than dinner. Service however, was excellent.
This wasn't the first time at Aikawa but it had been a while. Service & quality is still outstanding. It was a great evening & the birthday dessert was amazing 😁
Excellent food & service. The food was served very quickly after the order. Excellent quality/price ratio. Very delicious food & awesome quality. For sure we will come back & recommend it to friends.
We are always happy to invite friends to Aikawa. Ask for one of the private rooms for groups, especially if with kids. The service is impeccable. The food is great, presentation is lovely & there is a wide variety. The quality is top notch.
It is definitely the best restaurant in Montreal, considering the ambience, quality of food & service.
We were there for my wife's birthday. It exceeded expectations. The space & vibe of the restaurant is awesome overlooking the chefs doing their work. The presentation & quality of the sushi was fantastic. The black cod was amazing. Definitely recommend.
Excellent sushi & amazing lovely ambiance. We with friends spent enjoyable evening & were very surprised with quality of cocktails. Well done, thanks!
