Pub Wolf & Workman is described as a lively yet cozy pub that blends a British vibe with a Montreal twist, with warm wood tones, a bustling bar, and a welcoming, energetic atmosphere. Food receives frequent praise for hearty, well crafted pies and pub fare such as Beef Stroganoff Pie, chicken pot pie, fisherman's pie, scotch egg, and mezze plates, often described as delicious, generous, and thoughtfully prepared. The drinks program earns high marks for creative cocktails, solid beer selections, and a strong whiskey lineup, with many noting standout Old Fashioneds and cocktails that highlight local flavors. Patio and courtyard spaces are repeatedly praised, especially on warm evenings, while the indoor dining area is described as lively yet comfortable. Service is described as friendly and attentive by many, though a few reviews mention slow drink service, occasional rudeness, or noise on busy nights. Pricing is sometimes cited as a bit high, but the quality of food, drinks, and atmosphere is often viewed as worth the cost. Overall, Pub Wolf & Workman stands out as a top spot in Old Montreal for those seeking inventive pub fare, great cocktails, and a welcoming, social vibe.
We popped in to this pub for lunch at 11:40 & were quickly seated & served water. I had the house burger & fries with a pint of Stella , & my wife had the chicken pot pie with hot, lemon water. Both meals were excellent. The server was very friendly & attentive. I finished with an excellent latte (cafe au lait). As we were leaving (around 12:50) we noticed that the place was packed.
I highly recommend the Pub Wolf & Workman !

Chill atmosphere. Got some window seats with the hubby. Easy to watch the street, swivel & peep the whole spot, too.
I had the best mushroom soup I've ever had in my life here. Had a lovely hummus dish with pomegranate seeds, too. I'm not even a vegetarian, but those two dishes both seemed unique to them, & they were both tremendous. My husband had curry...I think, I was too full with all my yummies. He loved it & bottomed it out, though.
Whiskey selection was varied & fun. Loved this place.
We stumbled upon this lovely pub on St. Patrick's Day. They were busy but warm & attentive, so we were willing to wait a bit. The scotch egg was delightful, & the STPCC (sticky toffee pudding carrot cake) was so delicious. The pints were good & the atmosphere was nice. Would recommend!!
The beverages were awesome, & the servers both times I went were energized & helpful. I even asked one where we should go next & they recommended a great follow up pub.
We got food the first time & split it three ways. The lamb pasta melted in the mouth & the cauliflower dish was a great add on. I would go back for more but just having drinks there was also fun.
Went for Valentine's Day & had brunch with my fiancé. Because it was a special occasion, we made a reservation well in advance. It was wonderful. Nice place, & we were sat near a bookshelf, which I liked a lot.
First & last time coming here sadly. The drinks & food were great very cosy atmosphere but you just never forget how a person makes you feel. The waitress we had, 40-something woman with pigtails- had such a negative energy I felt it in her tone of voice the from the moment I asked her what the specials were. She was clearly irritated by my question, responding to me so condescendingly, I was a bit stunned so I just stared at her for a second… super uncomfortable. Later during our drinks, she handed my friend her glass of wine & hastened her to take it from the waitresses hand. Isn't it normal for the drink to be placed on the table? We were there a max of 45 minutes. Some people just leave you feeling gross inside & it's so, so unnecessary. People have to act better.
Service très attentionné, nourriture au delà des attentes, prix selon les attentes, il faut essayer le HOWARD SCOTCH EGG & le PIE AU BOEUF STROGANOFF, 2 plats extrêmement savoureux & qui sortent de l'ordinaire,
Five star experience with exceptional service & delicious food.
We had the Pork Chops, absolutely delicious & perfectly cooked.
Also, the fall-off-the-bone tasty honey & garlic ribs with the homemade kimchi chee.
& the impressive maple salad, (it was a small portion) a scrumptious marriage of sucrine lettuce, endive, marinated beets, pears, raisins, & seasoned ricotta topped with a maple dressing.
I happily stole the ribs & salad idea from the lovely woman sitting to me at the bar - Lucy who
turned out to be the general manager,. How lucky is that?
It's the that details that made our meal so memorable.
Holly, the warm & amiable bartender, Vincent, the personable service assistant, & Lucy, the down to earth manager - each made us feel like long-time regulars & friends.
Thank you for making our evening so enjoyable.
Peak weekend evening so it was busy & loud but as expected for a gastro pub. Did not eat but drinks were good but service was slow & lighting was varied & too low on the resto side in parts.
This was a lovely pub. The food was fantastic. They specialize in pot pies & I tried the braised beef pie. The flavors were amazing & the beef was perfectly cooked. Would return for sure.
Went here all the time for several years but then noticed its marketing team started pretending it was located in the Old Port even though it's in Old Montreal. A bartender explained that they say Old Port because it has a better reputation than Old Montreal, which has become increasingly dirty & sketchy. True, but still kind of insulting to residents. So, they've lost two longtime customers.
