Stopped in for the scotch egg & stayed for dessert! Cool space in old Montreal. Our server was helpful & the food & drinks were great. Great pub!
Had a wonderful dinner here. Nice & cozy & the pot pie was killer! Great on a cold winter's day.
Stopped in at Wolf & Workman for lunch between two client meetings & honestly… this place understood the assignment.
I walked in & immediately got that warm, chill, cozy feeling. Perfect indie rock at the right volume vibes. The kind of music that says'stay a while, but don't panic if you have emails.'
The manager was at the bar doing some work, bartender greeted me right away, & when I asked for a quiet spot with a plug to get some laptop work done, they both made sure I was set up properly. Small detail, big win.
My waitress had a serious, slightly cold demeanor but in a good way. April Ludgate energy, minus the chaos. Dry. Professional. Zero nonsense. I loved it.
I ordered an Old Fashioned. She made sure to confirm it was their version (slightly different than the traditional one). I said yes.
Excellent decision.
It was fantastic genuinely one of the best Old Fashioneds I've had in a while, & this is my go-to drink.
Then came the W-W burger (burger of the day). Caramelized onions, jam, cheese the works. Quality ingredients, cooked right. The brioche bun initially felt firm, but it turns out it was just preparing me. That crunch ended up being exactly what the burger needed.
The patty was perfectly rosé… but let me be clear:
This burger was actively trying to escape.
Like a raccoon realizing the trash lid is loose, the patty kept making break attempts from the bun. This is not a burger you casually pick up, put down, & reflect on life choices. No. Once you lift it, you commit. Setting it back down becomes a high-risk maneuver.
I foolishly attempted to pause mid-burger. Bad idea.
Quick reassessment. Napkin deployed on lap for safety.
Second pickup. Final pickup. No turning back.
Despite several escape attempts, I managed to keep it together & enjoyed every bite. The waitress noticed my struggle &, without breaking character, quietly brought extra napkins for the aftermath. Respect.
Am I mad about the inconvenience? Not at all.
It's a burger. Deal with it.
& more importantly ... it was phenomenal.
Cozy, classy, busy but still quiet. A little expensive, but expensive in the right way.
I'll absolutely be back next time I'm nearby.
Went here to celebrate my birthday & honestly, it was a terrible experience. The moment we walked in, the server rushed us to order because the kitchen was closing & literally stood over us until we decided.
The food was very disappointing & felt low quality & compromised.
We ordered a cheesecake to be served at 12:00am for the celebration never received it. My friend had even pre-ordered a cake & was ready to pay online. They refused payment & said they'd provide one on the house… but we never got that either.
We also asked to change seats since we were stuck beside the glass wall. The server said he'd check, we saw tables open up, yet we were never moved.
Overall, very poor service, zero effort, & we honestly felt ignored maybe because we don't speak French. Worst birthday dinner experience. Would not recommend.
Wood & Workman is an incredibly beautiful pub with a great atmosphere. The staff were friendly & quick to serve us when we first arrived.
The mushroom soup was hands down the best we've ever had, & the hummus was delicious - though we wished there was more naan to go with it.
Unfortunately, getting additional drinks later on took an extremely long time - it felt like we were waiting for the moon landing.
Overall, it's a stunning spot with amazing food, & with a bit more attention to drink service, it would be outstanding.
Great atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
Great drink & brunch menu.
A very cool place to stop & grab a drink. The experience was less than due to our first server being very rude towards us as if we were an inconvenience. After she brought us our first drink she stated that she was done her shift for the day. The second server was friendly & delightful.
Service matters, so making us feel like we were an inconvenience is why this review gets 3 stars.
One of the best pubs/bars in the Vieux Port area of Montreal. The decoration was lovely, a mix of old school pub vibes with a classy bar. The prices were very reasonable, we were dumbfounded that you could still get a beer for 8.50, even more so in this area of town. There was a few TV's to watch sports, but not too many to lose its charm.
The service was solid, even when it was busy, the people serving were kind.
This has now become my go to pub in the area, you get a little bit of everything without taking away anything.
Would definitely recommend.
Hands down the best experience we've had in Montreal. Angi, our server, & Margo were absolutely amazing-both incredibly knowledgeable about the menu & spot-on with their recommendations. The food was outstanding; the chefs truly know what they're doing. & the drinks? Perfectly made & nice & stiff. We'll definitely be back.
I had a great time sitting at the bar & eating solo. The fishermans pie was great! I'll try to return.
Food looked very tasty, drinks a bit overpriced, but solid enough. My friend & I both felt weird after having our drinks; not a normal liquor reaction but some weird chest feeling.
Perfect burger, amazing duck egg, great service, good beer & a really nice cocktail. What else do you need?
Un pub bien agréable l'hiver, avec un service attentionné & une très bonne cuisine. Nous y sommes retournés dès le lendemain. Essayez le chicken pot pie, un must !
5 for lunch, third time going there… it's a pub, pub fare, pedestrian, our server was awesome, mushroom soup excellent, hard for us to find something on menu to work with.. over $300 for lunch & there are far better options in the area at the same price point. Amazed how busy it is, usually a wait time, location is the primary draw.
