Review Summary

Wok Cafe offers a polarizing dining experience with many long-time patrons appreciating the generous portions, tasty signature dishes like General Tao chicken, and reliable takeout options. While some customers praise the fast, affordable service and consistent quality, others report a decline in ingredient freshness, inconsistent food quality, and a dated atmosphere. Opinions on the staff are mixed, ranging from friendly and efficient to impersonal or unprofessional. Although the restaurant remains a staple for quick, casual Chinese food in the West Island, recent concerns regarding price increases, additional charges for basic items, and fluctuating service standards have led some loyal visitors to reconsider their future patronage.

I had a great experience here! The beef & broccoli was perfectly cooked-tender, flavorful, & not overly salty like it can be at some places. The sauce had a really nice balance & coated everything just right.

The General Tao chicken was also a standout-crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, & the sauce had that ideal mix of sweet & slightly spicy without being overwhelming.

Worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. I ordered Salt & pepper pork chops, Chicken shrimp mayo & salt & pepper tofu. Everything was not fresh at all & the quantity was very questionable for the price!

Used to grab food from here all the time. Portions shrunk by 30%. Their general tao chicken is 70% batter & 30% chicken gunk. & the service has gone downhill with the new admin.

The Atmosphere is very poor.n Full of knickknacks everywhere.n The food itself Is very tasty, but the ingredients are cheap. For example, The chicken is actually capon less flavor, & when not cooked properly tasted bad & old. They know how to satisfy but they cut ✂? corners. Give me good food & ingredients cooked properly, I will pay for it no problem. I live far so not a regular last time I was there pre pandemic was not as bad. I hope 🙏 next time they will surprise me. 😮

We've been going to Wok Cafe for years. It's mostly a take out joint ( not very fancy) & the food was great. Good size portions, great prices . However over the last couple of years it's been going down. We finally decided after ordering the other day that it's our last time patronizing this business. Food doesn't taste nice anymore, ( even the steamed rice seeming to be old & hard -- recycled) small portions & really over inflated greedy pricing. More onions & veggies to hide lacknof meat & chicken & take out orders packaged so you can't check the bag & missing stuff. Don't know if it's new owners or not, but I can no longer recommend this place. Luckily we have lots of other options, but we will miss our good old Wok Cafe go to spot. So sad.

didn't go in person but had the food & as someone with a big appetite their portion really filled me up. I had the lemon chicken & a couple years back I had the general chicken & both times it was cooked well with just enough sauce. The wonton soup is very lacking in flavor but it does taste good.

The food was good. I ordered from skip. But I ordered crispy beef, & I got general Tao chicken instead. It was tasty though.

Général Tau chicken with fried rice was amazing. Fresh & tasty. I had given it a bad review during the pandemic. They are still open so I figured they improved their food. I gave them another chance & was really surprised at how good the food was. Not to mention their prices are still reasonable.

Best general Tao chicken! Been visiting work cafe for over 5 years & the taste has always been consistent. Keep up the good work! I recommend trying the sesame beef & salt & pepper squid.

After seeing you on TV last night Susan, we feel compelled to write this review, as two long-time customers who always enjoyed their food when dining at your restaurant. Your Wok Cafe has a BIG problem that needs to be fixed ASAP. My sister & I have been eating at your Wok Cafe Restaurant for many years; we have recommended it to several friends, but last week's experience was so disappointing!! Wong-Ton Soup -- cold. Egg Rolls -- cold & burnt. General Tao Chicken -- over-cooked, hard to cut with a knife even, had more batter than chicken within & again, the dish was cold. Chicken Fried Rice -- cold. Our peanut-butter dumplings which were to be an appetizer, arrived after our main meal, & they too were cold, plus definitely not as good as on previous occasions! You mentioned that you were looking for cooks as two had recently left, which is a big problem if you want to keep your customers satisfied & coming back. Wallace left a year or more ago & he was a great "stand-in" person, server, prepared dumplings, helped cook, etc. Ralph one of your delivery persons is a great gentleman & always comes to say hello & have a chat with us & he too mentioned that you were hurting for cooks. We live around the corner from your Kirkland Wok Cafe, however, one experience there when it opened a few years ago was enough -- the person managing this restaurant was rude & the food was not up to the the standards of your restaurant off Sources. We always thought your restaurant was terrific/delicious & we couldn't wait to go back, but you need to fix your problem now before it is too late & you lose customers, good ones, like us! Please accept this review from two of your loyal customers who sincerely want you to maintain your status of being the best Chinese Restaurant in the West island.
