Went to Village Grec during the weekend. Haven't had a Pita Doner for ages as I used to go to the one on Jean-Talon in Parc-Extension. It was during the afternoon on a Sunday, quiet place where you can eat in peace without too much noisy crowd. Good service by the ladies of the house. Faire enough price as they have a lunch menu that spans between 11h & 15h everyday, even during the weekend. I had the Pita Doner plate, with greek potatoes, rice & greek salad, it was as great as i remebered it. 👍 next time i'll take their fried calamaris, I recall they were awesome.

My first time trying them considering the overwhelming positive reivew. Tried the Chicken gyro pita & their Porc & Lamb gyro pita.

The good stuff: The portion & size was generous, their tzaziki is on the watery side due to the fact that there is a lot of cucumber bits but delicious with a sharp lemon acidity, wished it was slightly thicker but overall a good sauce.

The bad: Their protein was so underwhelmingly seasoned, lack salt, lack herbs, lack spices, its the first time in my life that I sprinkled salt in my gyro pita (I had over 20 greek restaurants experience, & I never had to do this, even in a mediocre food court Greek chain). The chicken gyro was even worst, it was blander than costco's rotisserie chicken. I am not sure if I tried on a wrong day but this was beyond unacceptable. The fries they put inside the gyro is cloying & also unsalted. Spreading of tzaziki is not well balanced, 2/3 down the gyro, there was no more sauce.

Disappointing diner.

Very inviting & cozy atmosphere. Greek village style. The service was very quick & courteous. Professional. I had the gyro pita plate with some taramosalata. Very reasonably priced. Also lots of parking. Will definitely go back.

I had dinner here with my partner last night on a whim after running errands in Laval. I usually get takeout from the Jean-Talon location, but this was my first time dining in. My pita chicken gyro was absolutely delicious (as always), but I am leaving this review specifically to highlight the excellent service we received. Our server was so welcoming & attentive. I unfortunately didn't catch her name, but she truly made our experience even better.

I'm no connoisseur of Greece, but this was the best Greek food I've ever had!

We each had the combo platter & they're huge. Two choices of meat, in pita or on rice, with Greek potatoes & salad. The meats are perfectly seasoned, juicy & tender. After sharing the mixed appetizer platter, it was way too much! You get a lot of value at this place!

The service was quick, attentive & friendly. It's a great family restaurant.

OK - this is now the reigning king in Laval - inside & take out . Its 5 stars - once a week - less if they are out - they are out less often & we get really honest telephone advice when we ask for our favorite dishes. I still have not asked for my volume discount. -------------------- Once again Le Vieux Grec ran out of doner - we were really in the mood for a doner pita platter. We looked over the recent reviews of Le Village Grec & it seems like the tides were turning & so we decided to give Village Grec another chance. Things are looking up - not exactly like it once was - but its a very big improvement. You need to tweek the rice flavouring & fry those huge fries just a little longer til the edges get crispy otherwise they steam up & get soggy during takeout. The sandwiches where the biggest improvement. Keep it up guys - nice come back. We will be returning ------------------------------ A year before: I only went back because Le Vieux Grec ran out of doner. I had not been at Village Grec since Covid started - boy was I let down. I wont get specific but Great things do not last forever. If you want what you had, go to Le Vieux Grec on Souvenir. They were trained by the son of the own of the Village Grec - its great. People buy a thriving business - I see it all the time. They dont have to do anything but repeat what was happening before they bought it. The price they paid for the restaurant is relative to the amount of business it was generating. Now its no where close & diminishing once they get through all the old regulars - it will be ready to shut down. Unless - they smarten up & stop thinking that their way is better- trust me its not. I wont go back till I see many great reviews not from people that are associated with the restaurant trying to cancel out the recent wave of bad reviews. Restaurants are mainly run by hard working uneducated people- not stupid people but mostly people who do not have university degrees - but the good ones have street smarts. The new owners seem to have neither. So take my advice - go back & copy exactly what the old owners used to do - do not cut corners & you will save your business. You need to work hard to turn around customer sentiment. Understand why you have bad reviews. Read & do not ignore the reviews, use them to make you better. Or just call up one of the old owners & have them help & show you how. Play smart & make money.
