I ordered the lamb chops. I received a plate with 4 tiny petite petite chops. Two were ALL fat (zero meat). Then out comes the plate for the couple next to me. Four lamb chops two connected. I asked my server why my plate looked different? She asked the kitchen & came back with an unusual answer of basically they thought it was what she put in. WHO PAYS $45 FOR BASICALLY 2 PETITE LAMB CHOPS? All was going well in Canada, thought we were ending the trip on a good high note. Hubby most throughly enjoyed it. But you can always send a steak back. Best things for me was the live music which was AMAZING!View more

The service was fast & the staff was courteous. I came here for brunch on Saturday morning with my boyfriend. He had the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon & I had the steak & eggs; we loved it ! There was also live music, which was a nice way to set the atmosphere.View more
Absolutely great restaurant in the heart of Old Montreal. Great atmosphere, tables not crammed together, we had a table by a window on the 2nd floor. The steaks were prepared exactly as requested & the service by Monosh was outstanding - attentive, pleasant, responsive & a real professional. Lots to see around the restaurant as well on a walking tour with the family.View more

I went for a solo dinner (which I hate doing) & the service was impeccable. Initially when I asked for a table for one I felt like I was an inconvenience. I like to read my book & take my time when I'm alone; I don't like being rushed. My server was Fadi & he could have not have been more respectful if he tried. From timing the various courses (at my snail pace) to a complimentary dessert & just the right amount of conversation I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I don't order steak at restaurants anymore so I won't speak to the "steakhouse" name. I selected this restaurant because I was looking for some comfort food & when I saw truffle Mac & cheese on the menu I decided to give it a go. It was the best Mac & cheese I have ever had. Ever. It sounds silly. But it was. The wine menu was quite overpriced, as it is with most restaurants in this area, so I don't discount the restaurant on that account. I don't leave reviews often but after trying 5-6 different places in the old port this was my favourite so far. So it warranted at least this. In my experience, it's worth a try. Thank you Vieux-Port Steakhouse staff & especially Elias & our hostess that took our reservation at such short notice (whom I unfortunately cannot remember the name of). We came to celebrate our first wedding anniversary & Elias helped me secure a good table by the fireplace beforehand as well as some choice champagne & wine to go with the dinner, as well as helped make the dessert special too! I had the surf & turf half lobster & steak & she had the striploin. The food was amazing & so was the atmosphere. We were only visiting Montreal but this has definitely been added to our list of reasons to return!View more

Was visiting Montreal for a work conference & decided to try a steakhouse on Valentine's Day with my wife who travelled with me. Service was good. Ordered the prix-fixe Valentine's Day special: 6 oz Filet, mashed potatoes & veggies with Caesar salad to start. Portions were small; one undercooked brocolli floret, half of a carrot (yes, half) & a dollop of potatoes. My steak was BADLY overcooked (I wanted medium-rare & I got well done). When I told the server at the end of the meal, she said she came by earlier to check if everything was OK but it was BEFORE I started eating the steak. She asked if I wanted a new one & I declined because we were pretty much done our meal. The true kicker was the $30 glass of wine I ordered. Whaaat I asked for a glass of "house" cabernet sauvignion & they brought me a $30 glass of wine & didn't bother to tell me... No comps or credits on the bill either. Disappointing overall.View more
We had a wonderful dinner here during a school trip. The steak was tender & juicy. The green beens were very tasty too. We were amazed by the service. All people were very friendly. Spotlight: One student forgot his phone in the bathroom. We called the front desk & they quickly helped us to find the phone & found a Taxi to deliver it to our hotel! The student was very thankful! We checked on TripAdvisor the best steakhouse in town & this was their number 1 choice. Overall, it was a positive experience, however it was NOT the tastiest steak I've had & it was definitely overpriced. It was a bit too crowded - we had to wait for the table availability, so this means the place is quite popular. I doubt Im coming back there.View more

Disappointed with the experience overall. We got the steak with lobster, which the steak was ok, cooked med rare like asked, but the lobster was halved & overcooked. Barely got any lobster. The worst part was when the meal was done, we asked for a to go box & the remainder of the lobster claw that I had just spent time taking apart was DISCARDED & was not even put in the takeout box. They left the box with a more than half eaten lobster carcass. Really disappointed with this as we paid 59$ per plate for this & I couldn't even take it home.View more
Nice place for a Saturday night. Nice atmosphere with music but not overbearing. Ordered the filet mignon with garlic mash & veggies. The steak was cooked to perfection. Delicious & flavored well. Honestly the steak wasn’t spectacular or something amazing, it was just good. Definitely didn’t wow us. However the service was good, the restaurant is pretty big & busy it’s a nice place to be.

The food was excellent, one the best steaks I have tried in Canada. The salmon felt freshly cooked.
That being said, from the start the hostess seemed as though she was looking down on me & my wife. She didn’t even tried to hide the expression on her face. She was just not happy to see us.
Then throughout the meal, I couldn't shake the feeling that the waiter was being passive aggressively rude towards us, this attitude significantly detracted from what should have been an enjoyable experience.
This review could easily be a 5/5 if it wasn’t because of the service we received.
I believe (& surely the owners of the restaurant) that everyone should be treated with respect & courtesy, regardless of their background & language they speak. Unfortunately, this was not the case during my visit. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously & work to ensure that all customers are treated equally. Most importantly for a restaurant that serves tourist from all over the world.View more
On adore ce restaurant, mais first il faut rentrer & découvrir la grandeur du restaurant car on dirait de l'extérieur qu'il est tout petit mais non!!! La carte est variée & offre un choix pour toute la famille. Des steaks ou du homard ou même un mac & cheese bien réconfortant!!! Super service a chaque visite, nous recommandons vivement.
Terrible experience for our anniversary dinner. Waiter did not come to ask for drinks until after 5 minutes when we are seated. Ordered Calamari & it was hard. Send it back to the waiter & he did mention he does not know why their calamari is hard. The table that we were sitting near the window was uneven. My wife's glass of water slipped & dropped on the side causing to break & it hit the stone side. Glasses flew on the table. A couple of waiter saw what happened & didn't come to our table & ask if we are ok. Waited for about 5 minutes to flag a waiter to ask them nicely if they are planning to clean or move us. They cleaned & sat us back on same table. As if nothing happened. We ordered the steak. I had better steak somewhere else. Waiter did not give us Steak knife. I had to flag another waiter. Terrible experience for an expensive dinner restaurant. Not coming back here.
Pour la 2e année consecutive, y avons tenu le paty de noel de l entreprise. Le steak était probablement au réchaud depuis belle lurette, pas juteux & pas gouteux. Décevant pour un restaurant qui se vante d etre un steak house.
J'y suis allé à l'occasion de l'événement Happening Gourmand & j'ai choisi le Surlonge de Boeuy avec la salade de type jardinière en entrée. J'avais aussi droit à un dessert (mousse aux bleeuts ou chocolats), le tout pour 25$ par personne. Rien de spécial, la pièce de viande était cuite comme demandée, & servie avec des patates & fèves vertes, mais très petites portions. Serveur très professionnel, mais pour la bouffe, lorsque ce n,est pas à prix réduit, j'éviterais. On peut facilement manger un steak bien meilleur ailleurs (Keg & Moishe's), au même prix.
This restaurant has the best grilled steak ever since it's their specialty. I got to taste also the grilled chicken, which tastes amazing as well, & very tender. If you're not a big fan of red meat, they have a big variety of sea food plates including lobsters which I will definitely try on my next visit. Awesome warm ambiance in a cosy historic place.
