Located in Old Montreal, Vandale invites you to discover the cuisine of renowned chef Alex Payon as well as the cocktail menu of bar chef Jake Cristofaro. Located on McGill Street, a stone's throw from the Square Victoria metro and the Old Port, the Vandale restaurant opened its doors in September 2021. The kitchen offers classic dishes revisited with talent using local products.
Designed by the renowned Speakeasy team, the interior of Vandale Restaurant housed in a historic building, reflects the hip sensibilities of the Old Port and Griffintown. Love me a good speakeasy. This one was a bit too easy to find but it made enjoying the delightful cocktails even easier. Thomas was a gracious host & Leo behind the bar a true mixology craftsman. I enjoyed the house negroni & based on that, followed it up with Leo's choice. He picked the Side Car for me. Direct hit! Way to go Leo!! Chill video, no pretension, amazing cocktails, $1 oysters for 5a7. Good spot for cocktails after work. Shared plates look delicious but I was solo & the plates would have been better shared so I skipped out for an excuse to come back. The Prix Fixe looks reasonable too. Come with a large party & share family style after work or before a night on the town.View more

Visited for drinks at the speakeasy. Had reservations at nine, but the speakeasy wasn't opened yet. Sat at the bar in Vandale. The bartender was incredible & made a drink specifically for my taste that wasn't on the menu. The art is exceptional & makes for a very enriching experience. Spent a lot of the time looking around on the walls & enjoying our drink. The speakeasy is located downstairs right when you walk in. The speakeasy was very dark in a 20s intimate style. The drinks were absolutely phenomenal.View more

Great vibes, unique marketing & atmosphere & reasonable happy hour prices. There are $1 oysters Thursday happy hour (only?) & the staff are quick & friendly with the service. The menus are delivered in fun record sleeves & the murals of the space are colorful & pop! The space is not wheelchair accessible, there are a few steps to enter the first door, & heavy second door & stairs required for the bathrooms. There are multiple seat options with different levels of back rests for the bar versus table, & different levels of light & noise depending on where you are in the space. Overall I would recommend for the happy hour special but seemed pretty average for the normal bar/food service.View more

L'expérience & l'ambiance sortent vraiment de l'ordinaire. On entre dans un univers artistique qui va des murs jusqu'aux plats & aux boissons. On se sent à l'aise, bien accueilli & bien servi. Les plats sont magnifiques à regarder & délicieux en bouche. J'ai vraiment beaucoup aimé tout ce qui m'a été servi, tous les ingrédients de chaque plat se marient très bien. Texture, goût, équilibre, tout y est à chaque fois. Les cocktails sont élaborés, goûteux & uniques. Il y a un véritable génie artistique derrière tous les cocktails. Il y en a un pour tous les goûts. Il y a même un speakeasy sur place. L'ambiance est superbe, on pénètre dans un concept de bar caché. On se détend, on passe un bon moment avec le personnel. Vraiment de belles soirées en perspective. via LibroTrès bonne place, belle ambiance funky. Plats excellents! Les saveurs se distinguent les unes des autres. Savoureux! Le speakeasy du sous-sol (bar clandestin) est excellent, avant ou après le repas, ou juste en soirée, entres amis ou en amoureux.

Went to this restaurant because the event of Montréal à table. We tried the table d'hôte menu. & it was good. Everything was tasty & well presented. The cocktails were very funky. They based on some classic cocktails & they made it into tasty & well presented cocktails with some funky ingredients. They also have a opened kitchen which you could see the staffs working in it. & it was a good experience. They also have another bar inside there basement. I think personally it was way too dark. They only lighted the bar with a few candles (& you could barely see the person who was sitting infront of you). But the cocktails were tasty. Overall why did I only give three stars, the food was good but it wasn't something I would come back for it. & the basement bar need to improve the lighting.View more
