About us
UMAMI RAMEN & IZAKAYA is the very first fully vegan ramen restaurant in Montreal.
Thanks to the import of a Japanese machine for making noodles, the establishment makes its own homemade noodles from organic wheat, in addition to making its broths, Tsukemono, kombucha and sprouts! The restaurant offers several varieties of ramen and small classics of Japanese Bistronomy in a vegan version. Whether we think of okonomiyaki, gyozas, Agedashi tofu or even tempeh Tonkatsu, Cédric and his team are happy to present to you every day, from starter to dessert, these revisited Japanese classics... just a few exclusives straight out of our kitchens. And who says Izayaka, of course, says refreshing beers, sumptuous wines, intoxicating cocktails, delicate sakes and other fine wine products. At Umami Ramen, we experience cruelty-free gastronomy at its best!

Local plutôt bruyant, mais service impeccable & très bonne cuisine. Au départ, déçus de ne pas pouvoir prendre le menu dégustation, le serveur nous a mitonné un menu dégustation à façon, avec choix de plusieurs saké. Très belle découverte.View more

Très bien placé. Service sympathique. J'ai discuté avec le batiste qui préparait les cocktails. La nourriture était assez surprenante & pas facile à manger. Le ramen était composé d'une sauce très épaisse & d'un champion enoki frit sur le dessus. Absolument pas pratique à manger, j'ai commis le sacrilège de planter mes baguettes dedans. Les cocktails sont très (trop) chers mais ils sont bons & originaux en goût & en composition.View more

Very late, but I wanted to share our recent experience at Umami. My best friend & I went here for dinner on Friday, September 27, after having just driven in from Toronto. We were so hungry that we nearly ordered everything on the menu & were pleased to find many options we could share. The food was delicious, especially the Okonimiyaki & Tempura de champignon. Our server, Noemie, was so sweet & took the time to explain each dish to us in English; she even helped us with our French! She was lovely & made the experience that much better. We will be back the next time we're in town!View more

The tempura was good but the miso ramen & kimchi ramen were so bad & salty. I really don't recommend it. First bite, I cringed from how salty it was & thick. The drinks were good otherwise I don't recommend coming here to eat FOOD.View more

Je suis allé manger au Umami avec mon copain le 7 octobre 2024 au soir & avons été épatés. Une nourriture d'une qualité digne d'un restaurant du Japon: une ambiance agréable & un service chaleureux. Nous avions une table plus à l'écart (pas trop collés sur les autres clients), & les serveurs de la soirée étaient d'une gentillesse & d'une compréhension sans nom. I love this restaurant, & the food is always excellent. The atmosphere is ambient & relaxing, but it's not always easy to get your favourite seats, & it's a little cramped at times. But that also adds to the charm of the place. The staff are pleasant & efficient. My recent visit was to celebrate my daughters birthday, & she was treated with such courtesy. At the end of the meal, they brought her a delicious doughnut with birthday candles in it. I really appreciated that, as my daughter surprised me & didn't order a dessert. I was sad to think she wouldn't be able to blow out her candles, but the restaurant staff took care of that for her! Thank you for a great experience. We will definitely be back!View more

beautiful & calm interior - really nice space to spend some time tho the food was just okay. good tempura, not so balanced eggplant, good okonomiyaki, not very umami kimchi ramen with too dense tofu. the jade drink was nice but could had a bit more of spice for my taste! :) the service was really nice & supporting the lovely environment. thank you!View more
