Not the best overall, but I'll give credit to their beef doubles, they're solid. The chicken, however, lacks flavor & doesn't stand out.

Had the oxtail at Tropical Paradise & it was excellent - truly fall-off-the-bone tender & full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh, the portion size was generous, & the service was incredibly fast. I barely had time to sit down before the food came out. On top of that, the staff were really friendly & welcoming. Solid spot if you're looking for great Caribbean comfort food in Montreal. I'll definitely be back.

I'm from out of town & was looking for some good Jamaican food. But, I found this Trini spot & decided to try it. The food was decent. Oxtail was too sweet for my liking. It's just not what I'm used to. I guess that's how Trini people cook their oxtail. The flavor was good, though. Also, I had the curry goat roti. This was a bit disappointing in the sense that there were no bones. I've never had de-boned curry goat before. But again, the flavor was good. Overall, the food was good & the service was definitely on par!

3.5 stars - Despite the food actually being fairly good, & some of the better Caribbean i've had in Montreal, I had a few issues with our order. First & foremost, the double was not a double. By definition a double contains a chickpea curry so I was expecting that plus the protein (chicken) & the traditional sauces. No chickpeas (thus no curry) & no sauce, just over cooked / dry chicken. The flavor of the chicken was good but still very disappointing as a meal. The jerk chicken plate, again tasted good, but was also over cooked & dry, even the dark meat. Again no hot sauce or anything to help with moisture. Ive never ordered from a Caribbean restaurant that didn't give hot sauce &/or picklez on the side. Also everything comes in a trio which means pop & rice. We don't drink pop & find it odd to give rice with a roti. No option to choose what your side or drink is. (I would have gladly taken sorrel & coleslaw.) I feel like more flexibility in ordering would have enhanced the meal.

I always take the oxtail or chicken stew, my boyfriend takes the jerk chicken. The flavors are incredible & the portions are generous, all at a reasonable price. Can't ask for more.
