I wanted to share my recent dining experience at Trattoria Trestevere, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
We started with a unique zucchini & prosciutto melon dish. The zucchini was unlike anything I've had at a traditional restaurant-cut into shoestrings & perfectly spiced, it was a delightful surprise.
For the main course, the veal was cooked to perfection, & my cannelloni was simply delicious. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared & truly enjoyable. The zabaglione dessert for two & the Nutella gnocchi were amazing.
What made the experience even more special was the opportunity to converse with the owner, who shared some fascinating stories about the restaurant.
If you're looking for a wonderful dining experience, I highly recommend Trattoria Trestevere. I assure you, you will not be disappointed!View more

My husband & I selected this restaurant for my 60th birthday. Our server Mauro made some excellent menu suggestions which we enjoyed immensely. We had carpaccio, Caesar salad & Saltinboca alla Romana with a nice bottle of Italian red wine. Wow the « home run » was the fried gnocchi dessert. Excellent food quality…all made with love. Mauro & his colleagues Aluaro & Tau were very friendly & engaging. They made the dining experience very special. We will be back. We had fun & it was an excellent place to celebrate my 60th.View more

A bunch of work colleagues, & I were in town for meetings. We were looking for somewhere we would be able to eat, speak, & enjoy an authentic eatery of Montreal. Well I have to say Trattoria Trestevere checked all the boxes. Their Spaghetti Carbonara is right how it needs to be, & its been on my mind since I had it. We had an amazing time speaking with the Owner, & the Host. After all of our meals, we needed to have a crack at those Dessert Gnocchis & boy oh boy i wish my stomach was bigger, because i definitely would have wished to have more. I'll be making a point from now on when visiting Montreal to make Trattoria Trestevere on the lists of places to eat.View more

I had a lovely dinner here while visiting Montreal. Our waiter was charming & kind. I had the spaghetti with meat sauce & my partner had the lasagne. Both meals were perfectly cooked & tasted great. I had the crème brûlée for dessert & I loved it. Definitely recommend for a romantic dinner.View more

A wonderful italian dinner, from start to finish. Started with mixed greens salad. Arrabiata for main course, with an excellent toscana wine. Don't pass up dessert; the fried gnocchi is excellent! I'll be back the next time I visit Montréal!View more

Came with my parents & some friends, & it happened to be my parents' anniversary too. The food was all fresh & delicious, & the staff were delightful, cracking jokes & making sure our glasses were always full. We had tiramisu & creme brûlée for dessert, & they brought out some of the fried gnocchi for us to try as well. Didn't get any pictures because we ate it all too fast, but it was beautiful as well as tasty. Highly recommend!View more

The reason I am giving it 3 stars is mostly due to the service. The food was O-K (lentil soup for entree was bland, veal for the main meal was good, the tiramisu for dessert was delicious). I brought my parents here for their last night in Montreal. They are 80 + years old. My father eats slowly, & the waiter took his salad (entree) away while he was still eating! The waiter didn't even apologize, he just said "the main meal is ready". There was still salad in the plate & my father had his fork in his hand... Then, for dessert, my father ordered the Cassatta Siciliana; which is supposed to be a cake but it was in fact ice cream. They should mention it's ice cream on the menu as he probably wouldn't have ordered it. At the end, while paying, my 80 + year old father has trouble seeing the screen on the debit machine so it took a while for him to proceed with each step. The waiter was pushing him to hurry up which caused a mistake in the transaction & final total. There was no remorse & in fact the waiter was annoyed he took so long. Service was overbearing / impatient & rude. We felt rushed, & there were many empty tables around us as it was a Monday evening.View more

An absolute jewel in the heart of downtown Montreal. If you haven't been, it's time to visit. We visited this restaurant last night & we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Beautiful ambiance & amazing food which is worth elaborating...I had their escargot as a starter & gnocchi rose for main & my friend had smoked salmon & Osso Buco. My meal was to die for. We also shared a tiramisu & fried gnocchis for dessert which both were so yummy. Last but not least...Exceptional service. Mauro, the owner who served us was very inviting & charming. If it's authentic, tasty Italian food you're after then Trattoria Trestevere, on Crescent Street in downtown Montreal, is worth checking out. The cozy interior has a distinct European vibe, a great start to your visit. My starter, a Mixed Salad, was fresh & simple. I followed that with an exceptional Chicken Parmigiana. The chicken was moist & breaded just right. The tomato sauce & mozzarella cheese were so tasty & fresh. The pasta too was fresh & cooked to perfection. For dessert I tried the Fried Gnocchi, dusted with icing sugar, on a thin bed of Hazelnut sauce. Delicious! My only caution was a surprising lack of attention to serving etiquette. Each of the three or four Staff that served us, while generally pleasant, reached directly in front of me on a few occasions. I would certainly return to try other items on the menu.View more
