Trattoria Gio was easily one of the highlights of our time in Old Montreal. The food was absolutely outstanding authentic Italian dishes made with quality ingredients & full of flavor. Every plate at our table was excellent.
What really stood out was the service. The staff were warm, welcoming, & genuinely friendly throughout the entire evening, making us feel well taken care of from start to finish.
After trying several restaurants in the area, including some that have higher online ratings, Trattoria Gio was actually our favorite. The combination of incredible food, great atmosphere, & attentive service made for a much better overall dining experience.
If you're looking for Italian food in Old Montreal, this is a restaurant I would happily return to & recommend to others. Highly recommend! 🇮🇹🍝🍷
The food here is excellent, but make sure to give yourself extra time. Great quality pasta's & appetizers. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow & even after asking to bring out plates as they are ready (after 30 minutes), it was another 20 minutes until they started rolling out. The staff were all very friendly, but there was no urgency. This is a nice spot to stop if you're exploring old Montreal & would like some quality pasta.
Had dinner here on Sunday & it was excellent. The food was fresh, flavorful, & cooked perfectly. Every dish was well presented, & the quality was outstanding. Highly recommend this restaurant & will definitely be back!

The food here is absolutely amazing! The bruschetta & fries were super delicious, & the pizza was just divine. The service was impeccable, staff were very polite & attentive. Everything was prepared perfectly, & the quality of the food was excellent. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great italian restaurant! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Good food, good service, & great place for rest after old sight seeing at old port. Food is not super crazy but the quantity is good. *Venue: cute patio at old port plus a large space inside. We were looking for a place to eat lunch & rest after a long walk at downtown in a hot weather. The large space inside with good air conditioning lured us inside. The theme is Italian which was cute but they played latin music which was a bit unfit🙃 *Food: good portion, good quality, okayish taste. We ordered one arugula salad & pasta dish for two hungry people. We were quite satisfied with the portion. Salad taste was amazing. Pasta taste was very ordinary. We also ordered white wine, we got very small amount fod the price which was a bit disappointing 🙃 *Service: good & friendly staff but a bit slow service. *Price: I think it is a bit overpriced but so are the restaurants in the neighborhood.
So pretty much, the service was great with this one guy, ordered a linguini aglio olio with him & all that. But then the manager I think? Came up took over & then the service quality went down, the busboy had a better service than the manager. Frankly disappointed.
Stopped into Trattoria Gio on your last day in Montreal. The atmosphere was very nice. They have outside dinning as well as their main dining room. I loved the copper pipe decor in the back. The food was very delicious. The sauce was definitely one of the better ones in the city. The presentation of the plates could be better. I feel like with the quality of taste they should have fresh parsley as a garnish not dried, & a better parmesan cheese available. Overall I recommend this restaurant for classic Italian cuisine.
Service was ok, but food was overpriced & nothing special. The table bread they served was frozen inside, granted it's complimentary but you can judge the care & quality of food based on that. In the end you're paying for the location as it's in the vibe place of old town Montreal, but there are many options to choose.
