Tong Por Restaurant, auparavant situé dans le quartier chinois de Montréal a récemment déménagé à Ville St-Laurent. On y offre une fine cuisine asiatique dans un endroit spacieux pouvant accueillir jusqu`à 600 convives. Au menu, des spécialités issues de deux grandes traditions culinaires : Chine et Thaïlande. Spécialités: le canard laqué, poulet General Tao, Dim Sum. Le tout dans un décor typique tout à fait charmant.
Tong Por Resto-Reception se présente comme une adresse cantonaise fiable, avec des dim sum d'excellente qualité et une combinaison de plats classiques et d'options plus surprenantes comme le canard huit trésors, que beaucoup estiment à tester même s'il faut généralement le commander à l'avance. Les convives saluent la qualité et la variété des dim sum, la présence de chariots et des portions généreuses, certains notant que l'atmosphère reste intemporelle et chaleureuse. Le stationnement peut être difficile, surtout le week-end, mais le service est souvent décrit comme chaleureux et attentif, même lorsque le rythme ou la communication varient. Tried it for Khmer New Year. The food was pretty good, however, the service was a bit slow. Regular tap water would've also been nice to have instead of having to buy water bottles.

Tong Por fut une expérience décevante aujourd'hui. Les plats étaient fades & tièdes tout comme le service lent & désorganisé sans doute en rapport avec l'achalandage exceptionnel que le restaurant avait de toute évidence sous estimé. Je prendrai une pose avant d'y retourner & poursuivre mon évaluation.
Tong Por is definitely one of Montreal's staple Chinese restaurants, especially for dim sum.
The dim sum here is consistently very good & a reliable choice if you're craving classic Cantonese dishes.
For dinner, they also offer some lesser-known, specialty dishes that are absolutely worth trying. One standout is the Eight Treasure Duck (???), which is not something you'll find at many places. It's a great option if you're looking to try something different & more traditional.
Just note that this dish needs to be ordered in advance-usually at least 2 to 4 hours ahead-so the kitchen has time to prepare it properly.
Overall, a very solid spot with both classic & unique offerings. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you're willing to plan ahead for their special dishes.
Tong Por is such a great spot when you're craving comforting, flavorful Chinese food. It's a true classic establishment for dim sum - the kind of place that feels timeless & reliable.
The servers are funny & full of personality, which just adds to the charm of the experience. Always a satisfying visit.

Classic Dim Sum experience, nothing grandiose but nothing poorioso. The lights are perfectly dim & food sums up everything about the classical Dim Sum experience.
Chicken feet 🐔 Pork 🐷 Beef 🐄 Shrimp 🍤 Tofu 🐪 Noodole 🍜 You name it, they got it.
Unfortunately, I do not speak the language of the great big China, so I must communicate in the language of the ASL & English. Maybe one day I'll learn Chinese (Da chia how juung go, chuunzai, wu yo BING CHILLING) Other than that, service is good. Aunties are nice & uncles are nice :)
They are not clear with the schedule before attending I looked for information on the page & I did not find anything regarding what time the dim sum service ends even before entering I took a look at the hours at the door & nothing I arrived at 2:30 I could only eat what was left of the service then I asked a waiter & he only told me that it ended at 3 in the afternoon but he did not tell me if the dim sum service resumed later I would like to be able to find this information on the page or at the entrance of the restaurant
My family & I went here for my husband's birthday. The restaurant is very spacious. They often hold weddings & other events, but yesterday night was quiet. The waiters were Friendly & attentive. As for the food the portions are a good size considering each plate is about $20. The taste & quality was amazing. You really don't need to go downtown china town for this kind of quality food. I highly recommend you try here.
We left a 10% tip, & afterward a staff member came out & loudly confronted us, insisting that we must pay 15% instead.
There was no clear indication on the receipt or menu that a specific gratuity percentage was required. The way this was handled was extremely unprofessional - the staff member was arguing loudly & creating a scene, which made everyone very uncomfortable.
To avoid further conflict, we still paid the additional amount, even though we felt pressured. This was not about money, but about basic respect & service attitude.
While the food was acceptable, the service attitude was very poor, & this experience completely ruined our visit. We will not be returning.
I've only had dim sum here, but I highly recommend it. If you go on the weekend, be prepared for parking wars with the customers from Marché C&T (IYKYK).
