Review Summary

Tommy Café draws a mixed picture from recent reviews, with a stylish, roomy interior and a friendly, attentive staff that many describe as welcoming, while others note that the coffee can be mid or weak and some pastries seem days old. Positive impressions highlight great espresso, tasty sandwiches and salads, and attractive presentation, along with a vibe that many find inviting; negative comments call out lukewarm meals, pastries not worth the price, and prices that feel high for what’s offered. Several reviewers mention limited wifi access and hours, making long study sessions impractical, even as the space is praised for decor and comfort. The ambiance and decor get frequent praise, with mentions of ample seating and a cozy atmosphere, and anticipation remains for future lunch or happy hour options as the Chomeday location goes through soft opening. Overall Tommy Café is seen as a desirable neighborhood spot with potential, delivering good coffee and food but with some inconsistency in quality and value.

Nice & pretty atmosphere. We ordered the Emma under the sandwiches that included a salad. When we ordered & paid & the plates were brought to our table, there was no salad. As I walked up to the counter to ask for the salad, the waiter advised me that the Emma is the only sandwich that does not include the salad since it comes with a soup. No apology as there was no mention of this exception before we paid. The menu was a little misleading.

Where should I start?
No service, first of all.
Took over 45 mins to get my sandwich. Not exaggerating. Ordered at 11:30 & got our sandwiches at 12:10pm but had to obviously give them both back on the spot.
There was the fruit sticker on both my friend's & my sandwich on the tomatoes which is absolutely ridiculous. What are we doing here guys?
I asked for no bacon on both & there was bacon.
& all of this is btw PAID IN ADVANCE before even receiving any of the food we ordered.
We love going to the one at Fairview & the one in Royal mount but this one is absolutely garbage. I wish I can give -5 stars.
After seeing the man trying to remove things from the sandwich behind the counter with his hands & taking another 20 mins, I went to see the cashier & asked for my money back, & she was nice & apologized but I realized that it wasn't the right amount after I left the place. I just wanted to leave to be honest the place is a mess.

Finally got to try Tommy café. The interior is pleasant. Quite spacious relative to previous restaurant. But, as for the coffee, a bit weak & bland because my cortado wasn't a cortado. &, the almond croissant/pastry, well was quite, days old. This was brought up to the counter, where the owner proceeded to take it apart with his fingers. Exchanged it for a regular croissant, price difference was not returned. No apologies either. It's a shame in ways. No hard feelings though. Wishing them continued success because the neighborhood needed a spot like this.

The cafe was only about a quarter full, yet it took over 40 minutes for the two of us to receive our meals, which were quite simple & arrived looking rushed. Meanwhile, there were four staff members behind the counter chatting most of the time instead of helping the lone cook. There also seemed to be some confusion with orders being brought to the wrong tables.
That said, the space is beautiful & the place clearly has a lot of potential. I really hope these early kinks get smoothed out, as it could be a great spot.

The place Laval was missing.
Tommy Café's new Chomeday location is genuinely cozy with a great atmosphere. The staff is incredibly friendly & goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome & supported whenever you need something.

The space is spotless, with plenty of seating options - tables, counter seats with plugs, & even sofas.

They're currently in soft opening, but I'm looking forward to coming back for lunch or happy hour in the coming months.
