Review Summary

Across reviews, The Famous Cosmos emerges as a beloved NDG breakfast spot with counter seating and an open kitchen where sizzling sounds accompany hearty dishes. The experience is described as friendly, casual and nostalgic, with a small town vibe that invites conversation at the counter. Menu highlights repeatedly praised include the Mish Mash, standout breakfast sandwiches, burgers, crispy potatoes, and top notch coffee, all delivered at very good value. While seating is limited and stools can be tight, the overall quality, warm hospitality, and low key charm keep customers returning and the place is regarded as a Montreal staple that draws people from far and wide.

Huge thanks to T. & Hellme for the amazing service & warm atmosphere. The burger was absolutely out of this world; you can genuinely tell it was made with love, care, & attention to every detail.
--> I had the breakfast burger (with an egg)
Even though it looks massive & imposing, it was still perfectly juicy, balanced, & incredibly satisfying from the first bite to the last. The quality of the ingredients really shines through. One of those meals you keep thinking about afterward. Can't wait to come back. 🍔👏

This reminds of what Montreal is all about. Cozy, great vibes. Breakfast prices are like the good old days. You feel at home here. I really enjoyed my breakfast with the sunnyside up eggs in the bagel.

I ate at Cosmos almost every day for years during the late 90s. I gradually went less & less often over the years around the same time that Tony was working his way into retirement. When Tony died, I stopped going. When I heard someone had bought the place, I had mixed feelings. Could new people really keep the place that I knew so well alive? I'm very happy to say that they did. The woman at the grill (Tony's spot) would have made Tony proud. I ordered my usual & it was just as I remembered (though maybe a bit smaller portions as I used to benefit from regular privileges like a free 3rd egg). In any case, lovely experience. Same neighbourhood vide. Same great breakfast, & the famous potatoes, just as good (though missing the ash from Tony's cigarettes). I'll be back soon for another taste of the good ol' days!

I remember the first time I sat down at the counter, & was greeted by Nikos. Being super hungover at the time, I ordered two eggs, salami, bacon & taters. Best breakfast, that I've had ever. Sad to hear about Niko passing, I had many a great conversation & he's always give me an extra egg. RIP brother.
