Review Summary

Across reviews, Taverne Monkland is described as a Montreal staple that delivers a refined yet welcoming dining experience with inventive dishes, fresh ingredients, and a strong drinks program. Diners consistently praise the creative menu, the variety of flavors, and the freshness of the fare, especially seafood, while noting generous portions on many plates. Service is repeatedly highlighted as attentive, professional, and friendly, with the front of house described as warm and precise. The atmosphere is intimate and chic, and the terrace in summer adds to the overall vibe, though seating can be hard to secure. A few comments mention high prices and occasions where portions feel small for the cost, suggesting that value can vary. Overall the consensus is that the restaurant offers reliable quality, memorable dining, and is a must visit for those in Montreal.

They were Unpleasant to my friend. Kept repeating the price as if we couldn't afford the food! Question my friend when I went outside for a cigarette.
The waiter had no knowledge of the wine he was serving!
Overall a very bad energy.

The food is tasty, service great, the Walter was able to e plain the whole menu by heart with recommendations however is is over priced for what it is, paid 200$ for three on a main dish only without wine.

The ambiance & atmosphere are what attract people to The Tavern. It is the Monkland staple that Lucillies has to thank for the location being so popular & friendly. The service is on par with any of Montreal's best restaurants. The reason for 5 stars, the consistency of the table d'hote, the specials, the menu & overall food combined with the attentive service... The drinks are superb & unique along with that hard-to-get-a-seat-on terrace in the summer, which adds to an already great vibe.
Try the specials, I promise you they're worth every penny.
Ask the owner for a bottle of wine.

Break away from downtown & hit up this long running spot for dinner & drinks. Located on a closed street with other dining & shopping options. The owner is very nice & took very good care of our group of race fans that escaped the rain. Fun place to spend your evening with friends. The red wine selection from the owner was right in my wheelhouse & helped make the meal something special. See you next year!

The chef knows what he's doing. Excellent ingredients, simple but creative & well-executed dishes (the fish!) of Italian inspiration. Regards to the staff who are attentive but not fussy. I would have taken off half a star for the choice of wines by the glass, they were a little disappointing.
