I prefer to have 1 server per table. The hosts were so sweet & accommodating even when we needed to modify our reservation time last minute. The ambience is great - but the tables & chairs felt a bit flimsy which I found odd. The food was pretty good. The bone marrow pasta was touch dry, but still delicious. The potato tortellini was so rich, but I really enjoyed it. Others claim the portions are small but I felt they were fine. There aren't many options for vegans, but there are some for vegetarians! The highlight was the tiramisu! I don't normally like it, but my friend really wanted it so we gave it a try & this is a dessert I would eat over & over again! Great wine selection.
We had a delicious meal last Saturday night. Beautiful restaurant with very attentive service. The vitello tonato, pasta carbonara, risotto & desserts were outstanding.
I visited with a friend who was in town, & we were craving Italian food. It was my first time here. The restaurant looks cute & chic, reservations were easy to make (likely helped by it being Super Bowl night), & the atmosphere was calm with great Italian music. There's also a coat check, which is always appreciated.
The staff were genuinely very kind & attentive throughout the evening. The menu is small but seasonal. I started with the winter melon salad, which was excellent - fresh, creamy, & surprisingly filling.
Unfortunately, the crab risotto was disappointing. It was undercooked, which was a letdown as risotto is one of my favorite dishes & something you expect an Italian restaurant to master. That said, the manager handled the situation very professionally: they removed the dish, apologized, & invited me to choose something else. I opted for the tuna crudo, which was great.
They also offered us dessert. I was hesitant about the tiramisu (in Montréal, not all places get it right), but it turned out to be very good. I did suggest serving it in a different cup so the flavors could be more evenly enjoyed.
Overall, the experience was positive thanks to the excellent service & atmosphere, even though some dishes were uneven. I'm not in a rush to return, but I would be open to trying the menu again in a different season.
Belle expérience, la nourriture (entrées, repas & desserts) était excellente & le service très bon! La musique est quand même assez forte, c'est peut-être la table où on était.
The food is incredible, I highly recommend the bone marrow. We had 4 different pasta dishes at our table & this was the best one. The service however, was noticeably off & you can just tell they have communication issues between staff.
The food runners were amazing, but they did not know much about our food, & what was what, lol. They just brought the dishes out & you can tell the servers don't talk to them much, so hard to order through them. They were great though.
We weren't checked one once during our main course, which was really unfortunate because we wanted to order wine with our pasta, finally our server came once we were all pretty much done. After that we weren't checked in on again, & we wanted to order dessert. We flagged our server down (again) to ask for a dessert menu, which she just handed to us, & didnt say anything. Finally when she returned, we ordered one of the desserts (there's only 4, which is fine) & she said they were all out! It's like damn, why not say that as you deliver it. It would have been nice to have been talked to more & considered during our meal. Maybe it wasn't her day, we all have off days, but we left as a result & ended up going to Monarch a few doors down & the difference in service was night & day!
We ate at the recommendation of the hotel staff, LHotel. Requested to be seated at the chef's table. The menu, the entire staff, from management, to chefs, to wait staff were incredibly engaging, interesting & friendly. The food was truly amazing, the service incredible & watching the chefs was like an intricate ballet. My only sadness was that I was too full to try dessert! One of the best meals ever.
The food was good, & our waiters were all very sweet. However, the overall experience felt extremely rushed & ultimately disappointing, especially given the price point.
From the moment we sat down, we were hurried. We were asked what we wanted to order less than two minutes in, & even after politely saying we needed more time, we were asked again several times.
While attentive service is great, this went way overboard. Our water was refilled after nearly every sip, we had 5 waiters interchangeably consistently coming over to our table & we were asked if we were done eating while my fork was still in hand & my plate wasn't done...We were even handed the dessert card without 30 seconds to look at it before being asked to order something… It felt like they were more concerned with turning the table than letting us enjoy our meal.
As soon as we paid, the owner came over & asked us to leave because another party was waiting…Our entire dinner lasted less than 1.5 hours. At this price point, that's just not acceptable.
It's the kind of place where if you're not dropping a ton of money, they don't really want your business. So if that's your vibe-it might be for you & you might get better service. Otherwise, you'll likely leave feeling rushed & unwelcome.
We stopped by on our last night for a night cap & dessert. Great atmosphere, friendly bartender, wonderful drink & a delicious tiramisu! Will definitely have dinner there the next time we are in town!
Stellina is one of my favourite restaurants in Montreal & my go-to for Italian cuisine. I usually go during lunches but one Saturday night, i took my boyfriend for dinner. As always, food was great, atmosphere & service from the kitchen, host, & commis waiter. Our server however, made our night slightly uncomfortable.
To put it politely, she was not exactly friendly & was quite cold & condescending towards us. No worries, figured it was probably just a busy night. So we ordered each our appetizers, mains, dessert, & drinks.
After spending a few hundred dollars & giving extra tip (because like i said, food & service from everyone else was great), you'd think you'd at least hear a thank you or have a good night. Nope. as soon as my card went through, she printed the receipt, turned around, & walked away.
Would it stop me from going back to this restaurant? Maybe not. But i would 100% refuse to be served by this specific waitress seeing as the table next to us received a different treatment. I still wonder why.
Greeting & service was excellent. Food good but not great! ´2 drinks, 1 appetizer, 2 main course meals & 1 dessert with tip $217. We were 2, we rarely go out anymore we found experience OK but pricey!
Vin abordable. Dessert tarte à la pistaches sublime. Que dire du Negroni Rosita WoW. Un 28e anniversaire comblé. Merci à Stellina
Great Italian fine dining. Did experience quite long wait times, but the food & drinks were lovely. Winner of the meal was dessert. Tiramisu!
