I discovered that you needed to bring your own wine after I arrived, but couche tard is only, so it was easy to get wine with my dinner. Steak was prepared perfectly, the goat cheese appetizer was delightful, & the frites were prepared perfectly.View more

Évitez absolument le steak frites régulier classique car la viande est immangeable, elle est dure & j'en ai laissé la moitié dans mon assiette, on en a fait part au serveur qui dit que nous n'étions pas les seuls, pour le reste tout est correct incluant un bon serviceView more

For a place that is named'steak frites' I would expect them to have great steak & fries. I had to send back my first steak because I couldn't cut through it, even when I asked for a different knife because I thought the first was dull. The second steak they brought my was blue & raw in the middle despite asking for medium rare. The server & hostess were lovely & apologized & gave me 25% off my meal. It took me almost an hour to just get one good steak. Wouldn't recommend because attention to detail is lacking.View more

They served us moldy bread. The cut of the steak wasn't specified & it ended up being too chewy & not cooked as asked (medium rare). For 38$ you'd expect a better quality. The only decent things were the fries.View more

We had such a delightful meal. One of the best steak frites & couldn't get enough of the sauces. My 10 year old daughter devoured her steak. Great service & great atmosphere. Don't forget to BYOB.View more

French onion soup is great. Caesar salad is basic. The OG steak frites were as described: not the most tender cut, but very beefy. For $38 it was fine. Like other reviewers note, we were surprised there is no alcohol available unless you bring your own. My bad, not theirs. Service was fast, attentive & professional. No language barriers as everyone we spoke to was bilingual & friendly.View more

We had been there in the past. We found to quality of the steak to be improved over years past. We like the cauliflower bite appetizers, the new york strip & fries were delicious. All steaks were cooked to the correct degree of doneness. Its really nice to be able to bring our own bottle of wine to the meal as well.View more

Just poor - steak cut was no good - flank undercooked - ribeye undercooked - in going out was just the chef on shift. However many reviews line up with my experience. To be called a steak frites place & have one of the worst steaks I've ever had. Terrible. Now for a 37 dollar steak I do not expect much. But this truly under delivered

Overall, Steak & Frites was an okay experience. The food was satisfactory, nothing extraordinary, & the service was adequate, though not particularly friendly or attentive. We were not asked if our meal was okay. The ambiance was pleasant, but not particularly unique or memorable. I love this restaurant & the atmosphere was pumping & it just had a great vibe & the food was so good. I started with a French onion soup & the broth was so rich & tasty. The soup was just delicious. Of course they had other things on the menu, but I went for the strip steak with fries & green beans. I did have the peppercorn sauce, which was just phenomenal & ended up having to order another pot of it to dip my fries into. The steak was cooked just right & was really really tasty despite eating so much. I did have a dessert which was good also. Great place for a bit of steak!!View more

We went to Steak Frites St-Paul on a Monday after work. It was still early, so the restaurant was quiet & not too busy yet. Our server was very attentive throughout the meal, & the food arrived quickly. Everything was delicious. It would've been nice to have a bit more sauce served with the steak since it was so tasty. The filet mignon was slightly more rare than the medium-rare we requested, but it was still excellent. Overall, a very satisfying experience !View more

Enfin un tartare boeuf classique avec goût & texture du vrai tartare classique: 10/10. Avec de bonnes frites, évidemment. Steak New York cut à la cuisson exacte demandée: tendre & savoureux, & très bonne sauce dijonnaise : aussi 10/10. & un service qu'on ne trouve malheureusement plus beaucoup: efficace, à l'écoute, professionnel & accueillant. & comme on peut apportez son vin: pas de déception quant à l'offre d'une liste des vins ne correspondant pas à ses goûts ni de crise cardiaque en voyant les prix.
