Skip the fried/baked goat cheese, but definitely try the steak & frites! & don't forget, bring your own wine! (they don't sell alcohol & you can save a few dollars by bringing the wine you love)
Just poor - steak cut was no good - flank undercooked - ribeye undercooked - in going out was just the chef on shift. However many reviews line up with my experience. To be called a steak frites place & have one of the worst steaks I've ever had. Terrible. Now for a 37 dollar steak I do not expect much. But this truly under delivered
Staff was friendly & did provide decent service.

Overall, Steak & Frites was an okay experience. The food was satisfactory, nothing extraordinary, & the service was adequate, though not particularly friendly or attentive. We were not asked if our meal was okay. The ambiance was pleasant, but not particularly unique or memorable. While we wouldn't say we were disappointed, we wouldn't particularly recommend or rush back either.
The service definitely changed. No bread was offered, we needed to ask for it. This restaurant is known for'unlimited fries' no one goes around & offers them anymore. Also, there was a'fire alarm' to the attached building, the staff acted like nothing happened. When I played the online reservation I indicated the reason of our outing, again- the staff wasn't bothered. Won't be going back.
Shared a meal with some friends as we were visiting from the U.S. Had an awesome experience here. The service was top notch & the food was great. BYOB was a plus. Would definitely visit again if we return to Montreal.
I love this restaurant & the atmosphere was pumping & it just had a great vibe & the food was so good. I started with a French onion soup & the broth was so rich & tasty. The soup was just delicious. Of course they had other things on the menu, but I went for the strip steak with fries & green beans. I did have the peppercorn sauce, which was just phenomenal & ended up having to order another pot of it to dip my fries into. The steak was cooked just right & was really really tasty despite eating so much. I did have a dessert which was good also. Great place for a bit of steak!!
The food was great! Tasty & cooked to perfection. The service was amazing, friendly & efficient. Surf & turf is definitely worth it & the escargots au gratin is not to be skipped.

Excellent service. My partner is celiac they ensured would be ok for her to eat. We enjoyed so much we went back the next night since we were staying across in intercontinental. Only negative comment is that would prefer grilled steak as apposed to just fried.
The Chateaubriand for 2 that we had our first visit during our stay in Montréal was absolutely delicious. Our server, Max, was very friendly & attentive. He even recognized us our second visit & remembered our drink order! For our second visit, the filet mignon & salmon were delicious & perfectly cooked. Unfortunately, the lobster tail we each had was small, tasteless & mushy. (In retrospect, we probably should have sent back the lobster tails but we didn't want to be the "demanding Americans.") Otherwise, it was a delicious experience.
The appetizers, bang bang shrimp & calamari were amazing as were the steaks. The French fries were not as good as we have had before, limp & not well seasoned. All of the service staff were great. Very polite, enthusiastic, & smiling!

Lively on a Saturday night. The place was pretty full, mostly larger groups, but still some empty tables. We waited 45 mins for our food & when the server finally brought out one of our entrees, steak fries, she mentioned she hopes we don't mind she's bringing it out before the other dishes, but it was sitting under the lamps & she wanted to get it out. Not what we wanted to hear. The other food ordered was only cesar salad, French onion soup & shrimp bang bang. It shouldn't have taken that long. Cesar salad had no flavour, nothing, no taste at all. It was bizarre. Soup was ok. I had been waiting to try it in Montreal & now wouldn't have it again. Bang bang shrimp was ok. Very small portion, even tho it's an appetizer. Steak frites was ok. Medium rare in middle only but over cooked around all around. I'm a French fry fan, but I have never had fries so horrible in my life. All you can eat fries? No thanks, couldn't even eat the ones on my plate.
Filet was tasty but undercooked (ordered medium, was sub med rare). Unlimited fries were great & BYOW saves a few bucks. Service was friendly & on point. French onion soup was mostly bread & cheese. Very little broth.
Great service. Unfortunately the steak was not cooked as asked & the taste/texture could be better... for the price. Lunch hour steak. This being said, you get all you can eat fries... if you like fries. They're good.
