The pierogi & kielbasa were so delicious that we ordered a second kielbasa. The ogorkowa (pickle soup) was surprisingly balanced, with mild & just the right amount of pickle flavor. The drinks were delicious, although I ordered a prosecco & got a second Polish mimosa instead. The Polish mimosa was delicious, so I just drank it without complaining. The pork was a little dry & service was slow. However, the pianist was lovely - great song selection & not too loud - so overall, it was a very enjoyable dinner!View more
A quick bite to eat & polish style food. I taste the pierogis are tasty we had one of each flavor! Our server humoured us & was a great! We couldn't pronounce some. Dishes but they laughed & joked with us! Amazing!View more
We love this place. Stumbled on it ~10 years ago, & then kept returning. A polish expat place in Montreal that is heartwarming in its superb consistency, straightforward quality. Pierogi , potato pancakes, everything with beet or cabbage are all recommended. Probably the best Schnitzels this side of the Atlantic. Also a great collection of Vodkas, some served with pickle juice - worth trying. The room is pleasant & old fashioned but not aged - highly recommended.View more
My wife is from Poland & she felt back at home with the pierogi & kielbasa flavours! Great food & love piano. A Polish staple for MontrealView more
What a surprise this spot was! We had never eaten Polish food before & boy have we been missing out. The food was great! Our server was super nice & helped us get the best food for our first time. We left stuffed & happy. Loved the cabbage & mushroom pierogis plus the potato pancakes along with the barszcz (beet soup) make sure to add the mushroom dumplings. The sauerkraut is warm & so so delicious. The piano player is phenomenal & plays covers of popular songs. The ambiance is kitschy & cozy. Make reservations or go early because this place is popular. A must when in Montreal.View more
Would die for this restaurant. I'm never disappointed when I go. The staff is friendly & the food is always fantastic. Always a bonus when the pianist is there! Definitely recommend eating your weight in pierogi.View more
Simply amazing. Came in around 9:30 pm on a Saturday & were seated right away. Ordered the pickle soup as an appetizer. Then for our mains we got the cheese & potato pierogis, & the kielbasa sausage (with potato salad, mustard, & sauerkraut). For dessert, we shared a crepe. All of the food was incredibly delicious. In addition to the perfect food, the live piano & the vibe of the place is great. Our waitress was amazing too.View more
The food was excellent. Don't know if I'll ever have a better sausage & sauerkraut, & it's affordable! I really hope to return & try the pierogis & desserts.View more
Extremely popular place at 5pm on a Saturday night. Food was great, good pierogi's, kielbasa & the stroganoff was also excellent. True highlight was the peach cobbler which was just a marvel to end off the meal. Staff are super hardworking trying to accommodate everyone, hats off to them.View more
We arrived quite early on Saturday evening with no reservations & were just lucky that there was a no show. I would definitely suggest making reservations. Just as you walk in they had a gentleman playing piano which definitely provided a great lounge atmosphere along with the lighting. It was our first time there & so we wanted to try a bit of everything. I ordered an entree of 4 meat pierogis which were hands down the best I've ever had. The meat was spiced to perfection & the caramelized onions rounded it out. I had the strognow as my main meal which the mushrooms & the meat were superb. I enjoyed the beet salad. I would say the only negative was the potato pancakes were a bit on the oily side for me. My partner had the Table hôte which came with a soup, coffee & dessert. The soup was very tasty with fresh herbs. For a main course it was the veal sznitchel, potatoes & beet salad. Dessert was apple crumble which was delicious. We would definitely go back.View more
Went early at 5pm just after opening. I had the Debutante plate & my wife had the Golabki. It was traditional, tasty & comforting, but I'd stop short of saying it was exceptional having grown up with Polish food & having recently visited Poland. That said, I still enjoyed the food & would definitely go back to try other items. The Pierogi were excellent. However the service was disappointing. The young servers seemed much more interested in socializing amongst themselves & were not very attentive to customers. Also, they were not too interested in socializing with the patrons. I don't at all mind relaxing & taking a while to eat, but the disinterested attitude toward patrons was not to my liking. Certainly opposite of my experience dining in Poland where they were extremely friendly.View more
This is a lovely little spot in a quaint pedestrian district in Montreal. Overall the food was great (amazing pierogi, but DAMN it took forever for the server to make it to our table. I will say the (busy) day we were there only three servers covered the entire spot, & they DID bring out piping hot food...eventually😂 The best thing about this place, however, was the live piano player in the corner keying up all the hits of the 80s & 90s. Make sure you bring some singles to leave in his cup on your way out the door; because he'll definitely play something that makes you go, "Wait. Is that...?" He had me at Dirty Diana.View more
In Montreal for work, & found this absolute gem of a place when I wanted something relaxed & delicious. Had pierogi (potato & cheese, with fried onions & sour cream), kielbasa, & small sides of potato salad (the pickle in was a revelation) & beet salad (amazingly fresh). For pudding, had the apple cobbler. Would eat it all again in a heartbeat if I could. Wonderful, friendly staff & service. Highly recommend.View more
Delicious!! Got two different borschts, pierogi's, & beef stroganoff. All were very very good. The vibe is also a lot of fun!View more
Excellent culinary experience in old Montreal. The pierogis were excellent (especially the mushroom ones). The bigots were also excellent.View more
In general the food was quite flavorless: Zurek too watery without egg & not sour at all. Bigos too sweet & without smoked sausage taste. Pierogi overcooked & also tasteless. As a lover of real traditional Polish kitchen, we were both disappointed. The Brazilian waiter was the only highlight of the evening. The Polish waitress was not at all friendly & almost rude.View more
Probably my favorite restaurant in Montreal. The cheese/potato & the beef pierogis were in a league of their own. The pork kotlet was a chef's kiss. Best espresso martini I've had. The peach cobbler was incredible. Great pickle-back shots too. Would 100% go backView more
What a great little find! The atmosphere was so cozy; live piano the entire time. The staff was friendly & efficient. But best of all, the food was fantastic! I really enjoyed their tasting platter as well as the beef stroganov. I also really loved their pierogi with beef! I absolutely loved my experience & will recommend to anyone who is looking to try Eastern European food!View more
Wow wow wow. As someone from Kraków who cooks a lot of polish meals at home, I can definitely say this restaurant is extremely authentic. We were blown away by the quality & spot on authenticity of it. We ordered the zupa ogórkowa (pickle soup), barszcz (beet soup), krokiety (mushroom croquettes), pierogi ruskie (potato pierogis) & the szarlotka (Apple crumble pie). While everything was delicious & traditionally presented, the pierogi & szarlotka were our favorites. The pierogis were plump with great potato quality & not heavy on dough. You can def tell they were handmade. Every bite the potatoes melted in your mouth & you can taste the butter & onions. So good! Now the szarlotka. We never order dessert but based on how authentic everything else was, I could not resist trying this traditional apple dessert. Let me tell you, not only did it not disappoint but very much exceeded our expectations. It was served perfectly chilled, & you can taste both the sweet & tartness of the apple. & the fresh cream on top was so insanely delicious. We practically licked the plate. & don't skip on the cocktails! We also had the szarlotka cocktail which was served with Zubrowka vodka (our fave), apple juice & a splash of lemon. Served with a little bit of cinnamon & sugar on the rim. Wow oh wow. Refreshing & complex, what an amazing cocktail. Will def be trying to recreate at home but if not, just another excuse to visit this restaurant. Definitely don't skip this spot. If you want to try authentic polish food, this is the place! Enjoy it with the live piano player who is there most week night. Na zdrowie!View more
Beat polish restaurant in montreal. Live piano during the night great food & a great atmosphere. Staff are great also. Will definitely be coming back. The pierogis were as good as my grandma'sView more
Our favorite Polish restaurant on either side of the border. We discovered this delicious place on an anniversary trip in 2016 to see Patrick Watson in concert. Have been talking about Stash Cafe food since. Finally returned this weekend for my birthday dinner. Love, love, love the food & atmosphere. I highly recommend anything on the menu, but especially the mushroom pierogi. We also enjoyed the live piano music in the background.View more
An absolute European gem in the Old Port. The staff is lovely, the pianist is fantastic, the place is cozy, even the path to the washroom is charming. The barszcz, cabbage rolls, schnitzels, krokiety, & pierogi are great, but the star is the placki for me. The desserts are a must-try, both the apple crumble & the cheese filled crepe! However, be warned that there are not many choices for vegetarians.View more
The best pierogis & beet salad. Absolutely perfect for lunch.View more
You write that you are a restaurant of Polish cuisine. I chose between Borscht & Zhurek, I chose Zhurek (because I can cook Borscht myself). What can I say about your Zhurek - people, don't be lazy & don't deceive others, because it's not Zhurek, but just coloured water with sausages. & where are the eggs & mushrooms? Some even serve it with mashed potatoes (it's a bomb!). The Poles treated me to Zhurek & I was delighted. & many people know that Polish cuisine is quite hearty, saturated with mega large portions. It's scary to imagine, but at the same time it's interesting, what kind of Ukrainian Borscht do you have? I also ordered dumplings (Pierogi), mix. I must note that the dumplings (Pierogi) were delicious.View more
I really liked the romantic & intimate vibe of this place. We visited it when there was a live piano music. Unfortunately can't say it was the best service or the best food. We didn't had a reservation & waiters tried to harry us up all the time. & food came cold & was a bit disappointed with golubci ( spring rolls) & borscht. But probably would like to go back one day because pierogi which my friend ordered was not bad at all & choice in menu is decentView more
Merveilleuse surprise, tres bon acceuil, & les plats sont délicieux. Je recommande particulièrement les pierogis. Je reviendrai c est certain!View more
I have dîned here multiple times. Celebrated my birthday here. My best expérience with Polish food. I love their pierogis & their deer cutlet dish. Highly recommended !View more
I have only amazing things to say about this place. Hands down one of the best eating experiences I've ever had; we were sat in a cozy window during a snowstorm. The pink lights set such a warm ambience & the live piano player (who played NIRVANA!!) just added to the lovely time spent here. & the food was incredible - I have never throughly enjoyed a meal like I did here. We ordered placki for our appetizer, which were the right amount of crisp & delicious needed for potato pancakes with excellent sour cream on the side. For our meals we split the beef pierogi, classic cheese & potato, & a dish of kielbasa with boiled potatoes & homemade, warm sauerkraut. We ended the meal with a cappuccino & their peach cobbler with sweet cream. Simply an amazing, delicious time spent here. I highly recommend to anyone.View more
The food is very authentic & good. Pierogis are excellent, would prefer the kielbasa was a whole sausage & not pre-sliced, but it was still amazing. The ambiance is next level good. Don't miss this spot.View more
