My hubby & I walked in w/o a reservation on a Saturday evening in March at 8:30pm. Despite still being full, we were seated right away at a cozy window table. Upon walking in, you are greeted with wonderful live music from a very talented piano player right at the entrance. The restaurant is warm & cozy with a red light district vibe with the red lampshades on all the lights. Lovely beamed ceilings & church pew bench seats with a long bar on the side. Our waitress was great, professional, & courteous. We ordered perogies, schnitzel, among other Polish dishes, & yummy cocktails. We thoroughly enjoyed each dish & the entire evening. We loved the perogies so much that instead of ordering dessert, we ordered another 8 mushroom perogies to go! I HIGHLY recommend for some authentic Polish cuisine!View more
Dinner on Friday night.
Lunch on Saturday.
(It was that good.)
If you love Eastern European cuisine, this is your place.
We tried:
Dill soup. Latkes. Perogies. Cabbage rolls. Breaded chicken. Sauerkraut. Beet salad. Everything 💯
Can't say enough abt this place. Food. Atmosphere. Cozy dining room. (Live piano player)
Would be wise to make a reservation.View more
What a surprise this spot was! We had never eaten Polish food before & boy have we been missing out. The food was great! Our server was super nice & helped us get the best food for our first time. We left stuffed & happy. Loved the cabbage & mushroom pierogis plus the potato pancakes along with the barszcz (beet soup) make sure to add the mushroom dumplings. The sauerkraut is warm & so so delicious. The piano player is phenomenal & plays covers of popular songs. The ambiance is kitschy & cozy. Make reservations or go early because this place is popular. A must when in Montreal.View more
I loved Stash Cafe, the atmosphere was super unique & cozy. They have created the perfect environment to enjoy hearty comforting meals. The pricing & portions was very good value for the overall experience. I will definitely be returning.
Highlights: Cabbage rolls were super tender, flavourful, & the right amount of meat.
The warm sauerkraut goes perfectly with the pork schnitzel.
The potatoes were so fluffy too & everything was seasoned nicely nothing was bland in the slightest.
Bonus points for the subtle live music from the pianist.View more
Cozy, comfortable & very welcoming, from the quality & quantity of food to the warmth of the staff, it's a great place for a meal with friends or family, or at the bar if you're on your own. & the piano player has been playing there for 28 years! Say hi - he's very friendly & keeps playing while you chat!View more
Amazingly delicious place!! Warm & cozy! We loved the Dill Pickle soup & the beet consume with the mushroom tortellini. We tried the sampler platter & it was fantastic! A very fun, funky & romantic space with a great vibe & cozy. The service was fast & friendly as well. The food was fresh, & the sauerkraut was great, unfortunately we found the other food (pirogies & such) a bit lacking in space & flavor. Overall a fun place, but could use a bit more spiceView more
A favourite to visit! The food is delicious & the atmosphere is cozy & fun.View more
The service was very good the food exceptional & the atmosphere was cozy romantic, dimmed lighting, with a pianist playing. Although parking is a nightmare, its Old Montreal & certainly worth it. Would definitely return! Dziekuje, wszystko bylo wyjatkowe :)View more

Cozy. Time stands still here. Live piano music & friendly staff. It's good to have a reservation for dinner as there is a continuous line at the door. Food is the most authentic Polish cuisine I've had besides at home. A must while in Montréal!View more
This beautiful restaurant was perfect, in terms of atmosphere. There were beautiful red lights providing a small amount of light making it feel very cozy & nice. What also added into this were the pretty long chair which was a nice style that went well with the piano playing. The food was really good. The perogies & salad is what I will recommend. The service, as well, was very good! They were ready for all our needs & were very polite when we needed something or they brought something to us. Service is 20/10!!!View more
Delicious, authentic Polish food in a cozy environment. Looking forward to returning.View more
Such a cute & cozy place! If you want to try some great polish food, this is the place to check out. Even for it being a Wednesday, it was quite busy & you can tell the severs were working hard. Because of the busy atmosphere, our order was initially deleted which resulted in a slightly longer wait. Due to this, we ended up getting free dessert for the trouble which was so nice of them to do. The service was fantastic & our waitress was very kind even when handing all the food, bar & cleaning all at the same time. If you're ever in Montreal, visiting here is a must ( just make sure to make a reservation)View more
Wonderful Eastern European food served in an old building with cozy charm. Bar is limited, but what is available is pretty good. Service was friendly & efficient. The piano player added a nice feel to the already intimate setting.View more
Fantastic food & service in a cozy little spot near the river. The food was delicious & light, you were full without feeling uncomfortably stuffed. Great selection. We had the al a'carte items for lunch. Two savory fried crepes filled with mushrooms in one & beef in the other, covered with a light & creamy mushroom sauce. Potato salad & a fresh greens salad included. Wonderful wine & drink list as well. Fantastic!View more
What a great little find! The atmosphere was so cozy; live piano the entire time. The staff was friendly & efficient. But best of all, the food was fantastic! I really enjoyed their tasting platter as well as the beef stroganov. I also really loved their pierogi with beef! I absolutely loved my experience & will recommend to anyone who is looking to try Eastern European food!View more
Walked in right before closing & they took us in. Everything we ordered was DELICIOUS. Get the herring dish called sledz you won't regret it. The live piano music, cozy decor, & wonderful service just made the entire dinner perfect. I'll recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Montreal.View more
An absolute European gem in the Old Port. The staff is lovely, the pianist is fantastic, the place is cozy, even the path to the washroom is charming. The barszcz, cabbage rolls, schnitzels, krokiety, & pierogi are great, but the star is the placki for me. The desserts are a must-try, both the apple crumble & the cheese filled crepe! However, be warned that there are not many choices for vegetarians.View more
it's the real deal Polish food. Super cozy Old port vibe. Great pianist in the background. Fun place. Great romantic spot. Excellent no pressure service staff. GoView more

I have only amazing things to say about this place. Hands down one of the best eating experiences I've ever had; we were sat in a cozy window during a snowstorm. The pink lights set such a warm ambience & the live piano player (who played NIRVANA!!) just added to the lovely time spent here. & the food was incredible - I have never throughly enjoyed a meal like I did here. We ordered placki for our appetizer, which were the right amount of crisp & delicious needed for potato pancakes with excellent sour cream on the side. For our meals we split the beef pierogi, classic cheese & potato, & a dish of kielbasa with boiled potatoes & homemade, warm sauerkraut. We ended the meal with a cappuccino & their peach cobbler with sweet cream. Simply an amazing, delicious time spent here. I highly recommend to anyone.View more
An old favorite Old Montreal restaurant of mine back in the day is still there & apparently as popular as ever - full house for lunch on Friday December 29. Quick & friendly service, reasonable prices & great, varied & genuine Polish fare. & the decor is super cozy, esconsed in a 1800s building with thick stone walls & wood beams. Highly Recommend.View more
