Hi,
Disclaimer: I have no affiliation to Solit CAfé in terms of business associations or friends with any on the staff, so this opinion is from a legit first time customer
I was absolutely floored by the interior decor as well as the outdoor terrace when i first arrived there. Myself, coming from the REM train from Nun Island, to REM Mcgill, this location was of utmost convenient for myself with an arrival of 15 minutes & no worries of parking.
The Mocha & cream cheese bagel were great & having it on the outdoor terrace, in the downtown core of MTL, was a fantastic way to start the morning.
I am looking forward to further visits to Solit CAfé in the near foreseeable future.
I was walking by & came across this café, so I decided to stop in. I had the chicken sandwich & salad combo with a coffee, & it was absolutely amazing! The sandwich was incredibly flavorful, & even the salad was delicious. The combination of flavors was like a party in your mouth-the good kind!
I sat outside on the patio, which had a really nice & relaxing atmosphere. The inside of the café is just as inviting, with beautiful décor & a warm ambiance. The staff were polite, friendly, & welcoming.
I highly recommend this place & will definitely be back!
My cozy spot , I love it so much. Such a nice decoration. I call it the Orange Café 🍊 & recommend it to all of my friends
Bien dommage.
Perfection in this'go to' central meeting spot! 4 people mentioned this café to me before I first came. Food, drinks & service are sublime. Sunny & orange arbor decor makes it feel like an outdoor terrace (even as it snows outside). The staff helped me choose from the menu & are very welcoming & efficient. In fact, it was so good that I recommended it for a friend's private birthday party. It's now a regular spot for me & my entrepreneur network.
Breakfast for two cost us $80CAD (all-in, with tip). We each ordered one dish & the $8CAD salad/fruit+coffee add-on. For this price, I expected a premium experience, but we got an average experience. We found a QR code at our table instead of a physical menu. After reading the menu on our phones (with all the scroll/zoom limitations of a bad mobile menu), we had to get up & order at the counter. The people working the counter were amazing. I rated two stars for service simply because the QR-code menu & counter-ordering meant there wasn't much service (they did bring our food to the table & bussed our table), but the people working here were stellar; we found no fault in them & they were the shining stars of this experience.
The ceiling has an Instagrammable, overcrowded orange-grove motif. Nothing else is as pretty. The tables are a mishmash of round metal/glass & wood. The restaurant isn't well-lit & there's cheap plastic décor thrown about. The round tables have doily-style tablecloths that your grandmother would be proud of--were she a French nun. These are covered with a big, glass disc. When our food arrived, it was placed on this glass, where the ceramic dishes spun freely as I tried to cut my bagel. This was not designed with thought.
The food is good. We didn't think it was amazing & it didn't make up for the experience. It was just good. 4 stars; above average.
I was annoyed because we had spent $80 on QR-code menus & awkward dining. It was at this time that I noticed the wall in the background that is covered with gold-colored, plastic decor & photos of the owner & family & their various awards. & right as I noticed this, the background music stopped & whatever radio service they use started playing ads. It all felt fake & cheap.
I found this to be a very average mall-style experience with a premium price. The food was decent, but I would much rather spend 85% for a 200% better experience a block over at the Pigeon Café (literally, we spent $68 at Pigeon for 2 full breakfast dishes, coffee, table service, & two more coffees to go vs. $80 at So LIT).
