Love the drinks, the service & the music. I love the lanterns! I'd take them home if I could 😞
Snowbird is my favourite bar in the city. I recommend it to everyone. It's not my most-frequented, & you'll walk out having spent more than you would at, say, a dive bar, but I haven't had better drinks anywhere else. I used to think their prices were on the higher side... & have since been disappointed by every other place that charges $17 for a cocktail, in comparison to the quality you get from Snowbird. If you go with a large group, you will likely have to wait a while. The security is strict with bag checks, & if you have any food in your bag, they likely won't let you bring that in. I have heard they have a roof but have never sat there. It's hot inside, & the bathrooms are cramped. The seating may not be the most comfortable. You may have to wait quite a while between drinks, unless you go up to the bar, which I don't know if that's totally acceptable here (I have done it before when it's not busy). You may end up being grateful for the wait, because the drinks are STRONG. Don't let these comments dissuade you! It's my favourite bar for a reason. The ambiance is serene, it's so well decorated & has so much to look at inside. The tiki mug displays they have on the walls are wonderful. But most importantly, their drinks are the best tiki drinks I have had at any tiki bar in any city. & again, they are strong without tasting offensive. You can even buy souvenir mugs, if you're willing to fork over the cash.
A really cool place, it's like a hidden cave & the vibes are awesome. Really thoughtful interior design, however - I came here last weekend with a few friends for my birthday, but was left a bit disappointed when it took 30 minutes for a server to finally come by to take our orders. Everyone at other tables was constantly putting their hands up wanting to be served, & after we finally got served was another 20 minutes wait for drinks, so that's almost an hour sat there waiting without a drink. When they finally came, the drinks were great. But we'd already decided the service was so poor that it was a -one drink only- situation, even though we really wanted to stay & enjoy more drinks, it just wasn't a reliable service. Would love to recommend this place but only if you're extremely patient.
Definitely a lot of effort put into decor & I love it. Service was polite & efficient. The Scorpion drink was great, definitely worth the price if sharing. The Cuban sandwich was salty to the point if I wasn't starving, I wouldn't be able to eat it. Like the accompanying chips were less salty.
Jess was an angel! Best server ever. Victor also slayed the drinks 💁♀️
I've been here a couple times for cocktails. It's always a lot of fun & the drinks are delicious. Last weekend we rented the private room in the back for a Bachelor / Bachelorette party & it was AMAZING! Brandon, the bartender, went out of his way to make sure we were having fun & his service was 10/10. We were a group of 20 & had plenty of space to hang out & dance. I'll be having all my parties here from now on!
Tiki drinks are pretty mid. Nice decor except for the bathroom lol, says a lot about whoever put it up. "Tipping is not a city in China" 🚮
Great drinks, fun laid-back atmosphere. Very accommodating of anglophone visitors
I've been to tiki bars across North America & this is one of my favorites. The drinks are excellent, better than some I've had at highly praised tiki establishments. The space is arch-vaulted, which combines with the tiki clutter to create an embracing, rainbow-hued wonderland. You enter by ascending a staircase where Martin Denny plays, which transitions to the music in the bar itself which is lively jazz fusion. The decor embraces mid century references from Elvis to Pirates of the Caribbean without seeming to be ironic or sarcastic. You can tell that this is a real labor of love by the owners, fueled by a desire to really do this sort of establishment correctly while also presenting a slightly arch spin on the classic template. I look forward to returning. PS: awesome mug collection guys!
Drinks are ok but service lacks quality. If you wanna the decorations go ahead.
An absolutely divine Tiki lounge secretly tucked away on St.Hubert street..Decor energy music ambience is really Georgous ...But needs a bit more oomph on the menu ..3 choices not enough ..Maybe a few eggrolls or some spareribs ? ..While the drinks are stunning a little notching variety is in order ..But still a fabulous hangout
Went with a friend in my visit to Montreal. Very nice ampthoshere & I got a nice flaming drink, & it tasted strong + yummy
Where to begin... I arrived 10 minutes prior to the rest of my party, made eye contact with bar staff but was another few minutes before they interacted. Finally came over & asked how many were in my party, few minute wait no problem. However, as I'm waiting, a group of three comes in & then a group of two, crowding & blocking the waiting area. My party arrives & then our table is ready & we have to move through a tiny space to get to the bar. There's three of us & they seat us at a small table with a stool & two small benches. Mind you there are two empty 5 top tables behind us that have more room & space which would've helped alleviate the cramped vibes. Waiter comes over & we're not ready so he comes back a few minutes later. We each get a drink, no issue. After we finish the first round, we look around for our Waiter & the man disappeared for a good 10-15 minutes. He never checked on our area or any other guests. So, we do what you do in a bar & headed up to the front to order a drink. The man working told us to sit back down & not order here because we have a waiter...ok. Our server comes back & deals with the other tables. After clearing them he brings us the drinks we asked the other bartender for which was nice. However, the Waiter had an attitude because we asked another server to help us. That soured the mood. Also, he never introduced himself so I don't even know this man's name lol. Another thing of note: the women's restroom. Two stalls & the large door swings inward bisecting the restroom, but if someone is standing there they're probably going to get squished, pushed or so on. Also, at the moment Google says the staff wear masks, they do not. You'll be lucky to find any food service establishment in Montreal where the workers still wear them. Expensive, service made it lackluster. Maybe once if you're daring but I can't imagine people being return customers here.
I love snowbird. They have such a great atmosphere, fun music & friendly staff. I'm a sucker for punch cocktails & their slightly elevated presentation is exactly on point. When it gets busy the space can feel crowded, & drink service slows down, but I got to hand it to the staff for keeping up as well as they do.
