Very nice place & very welcoming !! Perfect for a first date in my opinion if he or she loves sushi, cause I loved it 5 years ago when my now husband brought me there ;) & it's always nice to go back now. Sho-Dan, in my opinion, offers some of, if not the best, sushi in the city. This is a place highly frequented for business lunches & for good reason. The quality of the fish is always incredibly fresh & the rolls are expertly prepared. They offer very unique types of rolls which avoid the use of cheap fillers like tempura & spicy mayo, & you consistently get excellent cuts of fish. I highly recommend every roll I've tried on the menu (which by now is almost everything), but I have to say that the lawyer is my favourite, a very unique roll. This is not your traditional Japanese sushi dining experience (ie. This is not a place that focuses on sashimi & basic maki rolls, although they can be ordered), but the specialty rolls are truly out of this world & justify their price. Highly recommend this place for a nice sushi experience. I've been here for dinner & lunch & had excellent experiences for both services.View more

Sho-dan targets the business crowd located in Montreal's downtown core. The wine list is fine, the patrons are fine, the dining is fine, & the prices match. While the fish is merely of reasonable quality, the chef put a lot of thought into creating interesting rolls that feature texture, taste & aroma.
