Shay food was light & delicious, the atmosphere was welcoming , the personnel were super friendly & caring, the only negative side for me was the push to sell you overpriced (nonetheless a delicious cocktail) . The mezcal was good but definitely not worth 20$
We drove from Ottawa to try this restaurant because someone recommended it on social media. It did not disappoint. The manager was so pleasant & amazing. All the staff were extremely nice & made us feel like we were the only ones there (even though it was packed). I definitely recommend making a reservation! The food speaks for itself (view photos). Everything was delicious! We went for brunch & now we can't wait to go back for dinner! Highly recommend.
Overall it is a great place but definitely overrated. I ordered a Shay chai & at first it tasted like a glass of milk. Definitely not worth $10. There was no shot of espresso, chai or caramel mouse as claimed on the menu but when I asked the server to add a bit more chai to it, they remade the drink for me without any issues or without me having to ask for a new drink. The food was delicious & not overly expensive for brunch. We had the Shawarma Benedict, soujouk omelette & the baklava pancakes. The shawarma benedict was amazing, highly recommend & the rest of the dishes were great too. We went on a Saturday at noon & the place is packed, a bit loud as it is anywhere for brunch. I enjoyed it but I've also been to other brunch places that have better coffee/drinks & delicious food!
The food was not very tasty, & especially the meat portions (lamb & kebab) are very small. There are literally only four bites of meat in the lamb ($60). Despite the good ambience, it is overpriced.
Very good food, quite pricey for what you get. The shishtaouk plate is 36$ & the chicken was nothing special. They charged us 7$ for water... the waiter claimed he forgot to ask us if tap water was okay.
The were a little issue at our arrival, they didn't have our reservation even though we did talk to a hostess on the phone a week prior, we showed proof of our claim & after 15 minutes they finally told us they can arrange something, but that we only had an hour & a half to eat & enjoy our drinks so that was a bummer. They tried to make it up to us with shots which was appreciated. We were just sad because we wanted to enjoy our girls brunch properly. It was our first time too. But on to the positive stuff, food was amazing, absolutely delicious. We loved everything & they had a lot of variety.

Pamela was the best! My sister & I have been here a few times before & the food is always delicious, but, I have to say the service last night was outstanding. Thanks again🥰
I reserved this place for my birthday brunch & was very excited about going there. Unfortunately, the table they gave us was dirty, the seats were also wet, & we couldn't have access to our table on time. We had to wait 15-20 mins to have a semi clean table. I expected more from this place.

Ma récente expérience de brunch chez Shay à Montréal a été vraiment satisfaisante ! Leur menu propose une variété de plats brunch alléchants qui ont su combler nos attentes. Les plats étaient bien préparés & délicieux. j'ai particulièrement aimé le Saumon Gravlax Bénédictine, Shawarma Bénédictine & le Baklava Pancakes à tomber par terre.
Absolute gem of a restaurant in Griffin town. Surprisingly very reasonable prices, given how nice the place is & how attentive the servers were. Big thanks to Pamela.
Recently visited Shay & the food was amazing, but I was most impressed with their service. I was dining with a large group & we decided to order the meat & seafood platters to share, along with some appetizers. Unfortunately for me, everyone else liked their meat cooked medium but I eat meat well done because of major sensory issues. My colleague asked if some pieces could be cooked well done for me, but the server had a great suggestion that they bring the platter prepared medium, I could pick out what I wanted to eat, & then she would bring my food back to the kitchen to be cooked more. I know some people might think that's not great because my food wasn't ready at the same time, but I thought it was the perfect compromise where I didn't have to inconvenience the majority of the group to get exactly what I wanted. They even brought back my food pretty quickly on a new dish decorated with some extra veggies & dip. There wasn't a second of hesitation to accommodate me in a shared food setting & that really stood out to everyone at the table.
Kat's cocktail creations are amazing!! Her service is amazing, she truly makes the experience so memorable & enjoyable. Definitely coming back for her service & unique creations
So the best sign that you chose the right restaurant is a crowd waiting outside in the snow before opening... & that's exactly what happened when we booked "Shay" during our last visit to Montreal. This place is so worth all the hype. The food was absolutely delicious, the service impeccable (we felt like we were just hanging with friends) & the cocktail tree was worth every penny. We are hooked & will be making this our staple for future visits. Damien, our server, was a delight with incredible energy that completely added to our positive experience. Check this place out!
