Sabaidee! Welcome to Sep Lai! We serve traditional Laotian food using many local ingredients to create unique and authentic dishes. As is the norm in Laos, all our dishes are made to be shared! Although you may find similarities with other Southeast Asian dishes such as Thai or Vietnamese dishes, Lao cuisine is a distinct cuisine with its own complex and exciting flavors. Full of fresh herbs, raw vegetables, flavorful meats and always accompanied by a basket of sticky rice, we are proud to share this cuisine with everyone, including vegans, vegetarians and those sensitive to gluten! We hope that the dishes of our parents and grandparents will inspire you with the same comfort and joy as they do us, and that you will exclaim: "Sep lai! It was delicious!"
Our Specialties
Spring rolls, Imperial rolls, Khao Poon soup, Papaya salad, Laap, Som Pak, Lao burger & Winter melon noodle soup.
Sep Lai is a charming Laotian spot where sharing plates and aromatic notes of citronella, coriander and ginger set a travel inspired mood, especially on the cozy back terrace. Dishes like khao poon, nem khao, laap and a fragrant coconut curry showcase fresh ingredients, generous portions and good value, with many noting the option to bring your own wine adds to the relaxed vibe. The atmosphere is warm and unpretentious, with friendly service that suits dinners, dates and groups alike, and the terrace is a favourite in nicer weather. Occasional comments mention saltier preparations or slower service when busy, but the overall experience is consistently praised for tasty, well balanced flavors and a welcoming neighbourhood feel that invites return.
Nous avons pris le menu dégustation & avons franchement beaucoup apprécié, tout était délicieux & savoureux. Le service était attentionné. À essayer pour des saveurs différentes.
The food tastes like my (Laotian) mom's cooking, so I was definitely satisfied with authentic Lao cuisine. We were lucky to be serviced by the person who seemed in charge of training the other waitresses, so the service was great.
Absolutely awesome place! Terrace is fantastic, looks absolutely dreamy with lights in the evening & they even provide blankets so you don't feel cold. You can bring your own wine too. Food was top notch, such beautiful plates for only 20$, you'd think you are at the fancy place with $$$. Atmosphere was just surreal, SO romantic, perfect place for a date or just a meal you'll never forget.

Food was nice (the muu heng mao was so good) & the service was friendly but kitchen forgot part of our order. The outdoor terrace looked very nice but was packed so we were sat inside, unfortunately the window we were sat in front of was covered with flies (inside)
Ooh hell yea, you're basically eating at someone's home it's extremely welcoming, the atmosphere is great, the service is next level & the food is to die for.
This place is a gem! It's my second time here in the last month, & I'll go back before I leave for sure! The food is incredible, the service is outstanding, the prices are decent, the place looks beautiful (especially the terrace in the back) & it's a bring your own wine. The hostess, Elsa, was so welcoming & caring. She even brought us blankets in case we were cold at the terrace because it was a cold evening. If you are not sure what to order, they have a tasting menu with many different items & the quantities are perfect. I also strongly recommend the Khao Poon, the meatballs & the calamari!
Super découverte ! Tout est délicieux, frais & bien présenté. Les serveuses sont tellement sympathiques & attentionnées ❤️ & que dire de leurs boissons maison, un pur délice ! Un vrai petit bijou de resto . La terrasse est sublime
Came to Montreal on vacation. Tried this place by sheer chance. We trusted the waitresses suggestions for what to get. Food was great. Service was even better. No liquor licence when we were here. So we across the street to the Couche Tard to get drinks to have with dinner (as suggested by waitress).
Belle terrasse, superbe serveuse agréable & à l'écoute, les plats sont frais & cuisinés, mais pour le riz par contre, 7$ dans un petit sachet en plastique c'est pas possible, même si je sais que c'est traditionnel.
