Sabaidee! Welcome to Sep Lai! We serve traditional Laotian food using many local ingredients to create unique and authentic dishes. As is the norm in Laos, all our dishes are made to be shared! Although you may find similarities with other Southeast Asian dishes such as Thai or Vietnamese dishes, Lao cuisine is a distinct cuisine with its own complex and exciting flavors. Full of fresh herbs, raw vegetables, flavorful meats and always accompanied by a basket of sticky rice, we are proud to share this cuisine with everyone, including vegans, vegetarians and those sensitive to gluten! We hope that the dishes of our parents and grandparents will inspire you with the same comfort and joy as they do us, and that you will exclaim: "Sep lai! It was delicious!"

Sep Lai is a charming Laotian spot where sharing plates and aromatic notes of citronella, coriander and ginger set a travel inspired mood, especially on the cozy back terrace. Dishes like khao poon, nem khao, laap and a fragrant coconut curry showcase fresh ingredients, generous portions and good value, with many noting the option to bring your own wine adds to the relaxed vibe. The atmosphere is warm and unpretentious, with friendly service that suits dinners, dates and groups alike, and the terrace is a favourite in nicer weather. Occasional comments mention saltier preparations or slower service when busy, but the overall experience is consistently praised for tasty, well balanced flavors and a welcoming neighbourhood feel that invites return.
Nous sommes allés au Laôs en 2020 & avons retrouvé dans ce petit & très sympathique resto de Pointe-St-Charles les plats & les saveurs de ce pays fabuleux. Les bons restos & découvertes sont nombreuses ces dernières années sur la rue Centre & ce resto se distingue des autres par la variété de la carte & la possibilité d'y amener son vin. Les viandes sont de Charlevoix pour des plats typiquement asiatiques! Quel plaisir de manger dans la salle à manger fenestrée, cosy au décor apaisant. Les plats sont variés, avec les épices laotiennes, viandes mais aussi plat de tofu, châtaignes d'eau comme au Laos. Nous avons aimé & retournerons.
Endroit super mignon avec une magnifique déco & un service impeccable. Nous étions 6 personnes & avons adoré tout les plats que nous avons partagé notamment les nouilles carmelisées, les boulettes végés & le calendar frit ! En plus c'est vraiment pas cher pour la qualité - hâte d'y retourner ! :)
A delight! Each dish was intensely flavourful & satisfying. Favourites: laab, boulettes de porc, muu heng mao, greens, & pandan crème brûlée. Kind, attentive service. Cozy ambiance - we sat at the counter looking out at the snowy street. Highly recommend!!
Jolie place, on est ici en hiver mais j'ai hâte de voir la terasse en été! Nous avons eu le menu de groupe obligatoire (réservation pour 8 personnes) & je n'ai pas mangé à ma faim pour 52$ (avant taxes, avant pourboire) & le service n'était pas à la hauteur. Il faut passer par la cuisine & la plonge pour accéder à la table, ça brise un peu l'illusion, ce n'est pas l'expérience client à laquelle on s'attend. Les plats étaient bons, sans plus. À ce prix là je me serais attendu que les jujubes servis comme dessert soient lace au THC.
J'y suis allée quelques fois & chaque fois c'était délicieux! Les plats sont très savoureux & gouteux. J'ai fait une réservation de groupe, & nous avions la salle pour nous. Très cute, & le service 10/10!!! Le menu de groupe vaut vraiment la peine & tout le monde a adoré. Ils ont aussi porté une attention particulière pour les allergies. Je recommande fortement !
We were a group of four & had the degustation menu. The food was delicious, except the chicken salad. It was the only item that was disappointing, either we got a bad one or it's just too plain. The beef brochettes were exceptional. The service was great once it started, the first 30 minutes we had had someone open our wine bottle & then nothing for a bit too long.
I enjoyed eating here. The service was a bit slow in my opinion but I think is due to the fact that they have three different areas not counting the outside bit so they might just be slow since they have to be attentive to so many areas. The tofu with tamarind chilli sauce was incredible. My fave if I have to pick & I loved their matcha creme Brule. Also their mocktails are super affordable & yummy, I had the pinapple pina colada. Super affordable process. Our bill was ~$105. We had 5 plates to share plus three mocktails. So it was $35 each, super good for a nice & unique dinner out.
If you happen to be near Charlevoix metro station in cool weather, going to Sep Lai restaurant & having hot soup will be your best decision. I will definitely come back here again! Thank you:)

Petit resto de quartier, simple & efficace avec l'avantage d'être BYOB. Resto tranquille mais possibilité d'avoir une salle fermée parfaite pour les groupes. J'étais là pour mon anniversaire & on était pas mal loud. La nourriture est très bonne (j'ai adoré les boulettes sai oua & le laab). Certains plats manquaient un peu d'herbes/lime à mon goût mais tout était bien savoureux. Pour le côté épicé, il faut le demander sinon la plupart des plats sont préparés assez doux. Le service était ultra chaleureux! Je recommande à tous pour un bon repas laotien! Merci encore!
What a fabulous restaurant! The atmosphere & service was great, & to top it off the food was fantastic. The flavor profiles were exquisite, & if you like fried calamari, it is a must try, it was some of the best that I've ever tried!

Très belle place, un apporté votre vin bien caché. Le menu découverte est vraiment bon. Le service est super chaleureux. Nous avons passé une super belle soirée
Loved the food! Has so many different dishes you can get & share. Some classics but are still made differently or have a different twist. Cute spot, bring your own wine, can't go wrong!
Les plats sont goûteux, authentiques de la région, frais & avec une présentation impeccable. Le service est parfait, tout comme les desserts qui sont légers & maîtrisés à la perfection. Les prix sont relativement bas par rapport à la compétition & nous y retournerons assurément.
Love everything about this resto; food service & coziness! Chef Line offers one of the most deliciously authentic Laotien-Thai food in Montreal. Must try!!!
We enjoyed an early dinner before the theatre. The food & service were both excellent. I especially enjoyed the Pandan crème brûlée. Delicious!! Highly recommend you try the fried spring rolls too.
