Review Summary

Overall, Second Cup Café is a popular, cozy spot for studying and meeting friends, with friendly staff, reliable wifi, and plenty of seating on two floors; open hours and a calm atmosphere make it a go-to for students and remote workers, though some locations can feel crowded or noisy. The menu gets mixed notes: coffee and baked goods are praised, with vegan options appreciated and carrot or chocolate cake singled out, but some pastries are dry and prices can feel high for the value, and there are critiques of limited gluten-free or healthier choices. Ventilation and cleanliness issues recur in some reviews, including strong kitchen smoke and non-working outlets or dirty washrooms, which can detract from the experience. Service is often described as friendly and attentive, yet a few comments point to inconsistent management or staff tensions. In sum, Second Cup Café serves well for a casual study break or late-night hangout, with great coffee and a welcoming vibe, but attention to air quality, hygiene, and price/value is needed to appeal across locations.

I've been spending many nights there.
It's a great place until the ~4:30am terror starts, with the burning oil from the kitchen's devices & the lack of internal ventilation!

Atmosphere would be a 5 but it literally lacks AIR, so I can't give'Atmosphere' more than a 2... after 4am, a zero to be honest.
Intoxicating heavy dense burned oil smoke. Daily.
It's incredible how no smoke detector goes off with that agglomerating greasy cloud. It gives me a headache for hours.
A few times I'd have stayed longer, until past sunrise at least, but the toxic smoke makes it challenging & quite impossible.
Staff doesn't solve it despite many clients complaining, & many of us simply packing & leaving!
Makes me wonder if that's on purpose: to get rid of the night crowd of students & allow room for the early risers that work in the area!
When we request to turn on the two big fans & circulate the air, the excuse that they don't have the control for that!!!
The inner ventilation doesn't work either!

The fact that it has been saving my life for being 24/7 I'm giving it a 4 stars... else it would be between 2-3 because of the daily smoke.

Food ratio price per quality/quantity is a 3 too, but that's a global problem...
Pain au chocolate very often is dry, not worthy the price.
Over $12 for a bagel with lox, sadly out of my budget for now.
No gluten-free options.
Nor healthier choices to count on apart from the smoothies.
Window has no price tags, & since everything is so expensive nowadays, I stick to the promo combo coffee & bagel with cheese if really hungry, or the tuna wrap if wanting to feel healthier. Both are delicious.

Staff is awesome, that's true. Patrick & team help to create a family vibe within the people that are usually around.
5 stars to them all. Super kind & upbeat.

Clean bathroom, reliable stable wifi, quiet immersive nights.
Also polite & friendly crowd studying overnight.
Please, Second Cup's Manager/Proprietaire: get the daily smoke fixed so we can give it a 5!

Thank you so far for the hospitality!

The service was good but I got the chocolate chip cookie & it was too hard. The washrooms were nasty . I couldn't use them. The place was not clean. No one was cleaning the floor or tables. I guess they need more staff.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Second Cup Café is an absolute gem! ★★★★★

I'm a complete cake enthusiast, & Second Cup has become my go-to spot whenever I need a sweet fix. Their variety of cake slices is seriously impressive; there's always something new to try, but the two standouts for me are the Carrot Cake & the Chocolate Cake.

The Carrot Cake is hands-down one of the best I've ever had; perfectly moist, packed with real carrots, walnuts, & warm spices, topped with a generous layer of silky cream cheese frosting that's not overly sweet. Every bite is pure comfort.

The Chocolate Cake is pure indulgence: rich, fudgy layers with a deep cocoa flavor & a smooth chocolate ganache that makes it feel decadent without being heavy. Pair it with one of their expertly made lattes & you're in heaven.

The slices are generous, always fresh, & beautifully presented. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is cozy, & it's the perfect place for a little afternoon treat or a catch-up with friends. Highly recommend Second Cup Café to anyone with a serious sweet tooth; their cake selection (especially the carrot & chocolate) never disappoints! 🥕🍫✨

Will definitely keep coming back! ❤?

Ils ont du pain à la citrouille & aux épices végane / vegan pumpkin chocolate chip loaf. Je suis content d'avoir des options végétaliennes. Le service était aussi assez vite, j'aime comment c'est 24 heures

The barista is very good & very friendly & knows exactly how to make my hot chocolate, but the quality of the chocolate is not as good as some other places.
