It is a 5-star rating on everything except for the fact the tiny space for a huge number of fans from all-over that crave the Montreal smoked meat they serve. No doubt the food is one of the best out there, but lining up (in sun & showers) hours? Of course, we love lining up but please, the people lines even interfere with the bus 🚌 stop a few steps away. Someone will get hurt sooner or later, & so I'll just say it, open another store. Please!!! Okay, but it's worth the wait & exposure to elements.View more

Great Jewish deli with delicious smoked meat sandwiches. You will leave feeling full! The lines for the sit-down restaurant can be huge, so if you don't feel like waiting there's a separate take away section with a much faster line. Also, make sure you bring cash!View more

Used to be the best place for food in the city IMO. Returned after a few years ready to devour a meal I was looking forward to for a while only to find that they've dramatically reduced their portions (the poutine specifically). The first photo is the before, the second one is the after. They've kept the same price but are now giving much smaller portions & thinner slices of meat. The meat is still great, but now I'd argue it's just far too expensive unless you just have money to blow.View more

Amazing Service & Honesty!! Being one of the iconic places to eat in Montreal, I paid a visit to taste their iconic food. I do not consume beef, so went in to try their other sandwiches. The waitress that attended us, was very patient & clearly explained the meat that goes into each of the sandwiches. I ordered a salami sandwiche, where she pointed out that it's Beef Salami( I was assuming, it's Pork). She also explained that this restaurant does not serve pork due to its founding principles, & was very Frank about the turkey sandwich just being a regular cold cut sandwich. Many thanks to the waitress & the restaurant for fostering the culture to put customer satisfaction & food at their top priority.View more

This place is overrated.... The service was excellent! But the food left much to desire. The meat melts in your mouth but it lacks flavour & it didn't taste smoky at all. The sandwiches are meh, very little effort just a bunch of meat some mustard & some white bread. If you are in Montreal, this is one of the places you NEED to visit! The atmosphere is unique & it feels almost like you are travelling back in time. The smoked meat is so juicy & tender & full of flavour. It literally melts in your mouth. Service is really great & pretty quick, the prices are absolutely OK. Really absolutely nothing to complain about here. The whole experience is just awesome. Especially as a European, this is nothing you will find back home, so take the opportunity & visit this place, while you're here! Next time I have to try their Poutine, because it looked absolutely mouthwatering. P.S. In case you are wondering, card payments are accepted, even if this place looks vintage ;)View more

Uh. Kind of underwhelming. They hype up this old place like no tomorrow. First time going there , we went on a quiet not busy evening , we went & immediately walking into the door we were greeted rudely by some older gentleman asking us to sit what are you standing around for . (How polite ) . We asked what to get so we got their famous meat, even the waiter had a cocky attitude. . All we could hear was that older gentleman boosting to maybe his coworker right at the entrance of how this place is the best it's the best bla bla .hyping it up to everybody that could hear him . Overall the men working there all seemed to be PMS'ing . I don't know why they all are so rude & rowdy? The shop was not even busy but they rushed us like crazy as soon as we entered the place when we just wanted to take our time to checkout the menu we were just taking a few things to go . The attitude is like Y'all acting like you're in New York City don't know what the appeal is I guess. The food on the other hand... It was ok. It was not very tasty . , felt unseasoned, felt very dry , like eating rubber shoes. I've had better pastrami at other places. Least I can say it just average smoked meat Overall , the shop looked nice , old timey inside.it has its potential . Overhyped. But guys fix the attitude . Act civil. Be a gentleman.
