Amazing Service & Honesty!! Being one of the iconic places to eat in Montreal, I paid a visit to taste their iconic food. I do not consume beef, so went in to try their other sandwiches. The waitress that attended us, was very patient & clearly explained the meat that goes into each of the sandwiches. I ordered a salami sandwiche, where she pointed out that it's Beef Salami( I was assuming, it's Pork). She also explained that this restaurant does not serve pork due to its founding principles, & was very Frank about the turkey sandwich just being a regular cold cut sandwich. Many thanks to the waitress & the restaurant for fostering the culture to put customer satisfaction & food at their top priority.View more

I was looking forward to trying their famous smoked meat sandwich during my MTL visit. This was my first visit & sadly will be my last as I was disappointed in the food & service from the takeout counter. I ordered a smoked meat sandwich, pickle & cherry coke. I was shocked by the small portion size given the price charged(almost 30$ for everything) & that there isn't a combo offered at the takeout counter. My sandwich was kind of dry & made me feel sick later; also my pickle seemed rotten(I had to throw it away after my first bite). Plus I witnessed the cashier coughing & then giving the takeout order receipt to the guy making sandwiches after I received my order. Her customer service was lacking & I see that seems to be an issue from others' reviews. Plus no straws for soft drinks? I wish I had read the reviews beforehand but oh well. I will try another spot for smoked meat next time & hopefully have a better experience.View more

Definitely lived up to high expectations- tasty sandwich & a unique experience sitting at the counter in a legendary Montreal dining establishment. The kosher dill pickle & coleslaw were terrific too. Will definitely return.View more

I always come here every time I visit Montréal. They have the most delicious smoked meat. The service is very quick, specially during weekdays. I ordered small smoked meat with pickles. They serve it with bread in case you want to make a sandwich with it. But, even the small size platter is too much for one person. Lol I also recommend their coleslaw, as it's creamy & delicious.View more

It was blizzarding outside, & there was still a short line to get in. Worth it. Service is super fast though, had the sandwich within a couple minutes of ordering. The smoked brisket is amazing. Melts in your mouth, tender. Piled high on the bread, with mustard... So good. Lives up to the hype.View more

When it hits it hits. I don't know what it is but the inconsistency is what takes it away from me. Over the decades this has been an iconic place to visit with friends or anyone travelling to the city you would say go here or across to Main's but Maine is now closed ... I prefer the take out section rather than the sit in If you're lucky then you'll get one hot & really tasty .. if you're not so lucky it'll still be good . Katz's deli in NYC & Schwartz's in Montreal are both amazing for pastrami & smoked meat So if you enjoy meat stop by & make sure stop by next door at Coco Rico & get that dark meat chicken sandwich with extra hot sauce & peppers You're welcomeView more

This was a really fun stop. The place hearkens to a different time & feel. A true Montreal deli with atmosphere in abundance. The food was good, but be prepared to pay for experience as much as your meal. A sandwich, pickle, & can of coke was just over $35 for one person. It was worth the price of admission, but I am not sure there is enough here to keep me coming back.View more
