Roast beef sandwich is highly recommended! My American rueben lovers should try a version of reuben sandwich with white bread instead of rye without sourkraut & thousand islands but with mustard 😋 Fries could be better.View more

Got a table rather quickly since we were a party of two. Do be careful if you want to get a table as the wait can be long. There is a take out option if you can't. They have more offerings than smoked meat but I highly recommend to get the plate or the sandwich. Try to get it medium as the fat simply melts in your mouth. Would definitely have it again when I'm back at Montreal.View more

Visited Schwartz Deli holidaying in Montreal for 2 days. This restaurant is one must try & not to be missed. We had juicy, Smoked Meat Sandwich, full of flavour. Most popular sandwich for the first timers. Highly recommend! Coleslaw made with vinegar was tge idel side for the sandwich. We had A&W cold Root Beer.View more

Schwartz' Deli is an iconic Montreal restaurant that is known for its smoked meat. Expect to wait in a line which, in our case, moved quote quickly. All of this is for good reason! The smoked meat is the best I've ever had (& I've had smoked meat in NYC, Atlanta, Nashville, Austin & throughout Florida, too name a few places). People share a table seating 6. I ordered a side of cole slaw ( which is solely vinegar based & very tasty!) The star, the smoked meat, is tender, flavorful & ample in sandwich serving size, if you don't opt for a small plate or a large plate. Be advised that the Cherry Cola is "Cott," not Coca Cola. It is a our now tasty than Cherry Coke. You MUST eat smoked meat at Schwartz' Deli if you are in Montreal & want quality smoked meat!! I will return when next I visit!View more

Time capsule of an amazing place. Memories from my childhood are exactly the same. The most perfect smoked meat sandwich ever, paired with a pickle that you cut like a steak & a Cott's black cherry pop! Share a table with everyone in the place & it's always busy. Waiting in line is worth it. The servers seemed nicer than I remember this time... Although the rough edges add to the charm.View more

The smoked meat sandwich was fantastic, with meat that melts in your mouth-highly recommend! However, the Schwartz poutine was disappointing. Despite the delicious gravy, it had very little smoked meat, & the fries were burnt & stale. I wouldn't recommend it. The sitting area is so limited that there were about 30 people outside under the scorching sun waiting to be seated, while there's not much merit in sitting in the dining area anyway. The takeout side on the other hand, was well-managed & the line was almost non existent. I would recommend choosing takeout instead.View more

Classic Montréal deli with excellent smoked meat. It has the kind of atmosphere that other places try to simulate. Plan on an early lunch or late breakfast to avoid long lines. I really hate to say this...but I think it was just "ok". I know it's a Montreal staple & I don't want to hate on it. I got the smoked meat sandwich & poutine. Poutine is just not my thing, but the sandwich seemed dry & tasteless. What I'd change is getting the meat on a roll & putting more mustard on it...but I don't think it should need mustard. I loved that there was a line out the door & that it clearly has been around longer than I've been alive. Much love, but maybe it's just not for me.View more

First time here & we went to fall in line, luckily a guy said there was available seats at the bar area for two, & we were seated immediately. I gotta say, their smoked meat sandwich is very good! Fries was crispy & just got out of the fryer. Service wise, the guy in front of the counter was kind & welcoming. In terms of seating it is hard for a family or a large group of people to dine in. For two people, usually just go for the bar area.View more

This is a no-frills, fast service, shared table smoked meat shop. If you want an amazing Montreal smoked beef sandwich & have a fun conversation with those around you this is your spot. Keep an eye on the hours though, while this is a great place for an after drinks snack, they close a bit earlier than other late night choices.View more

A local told me Montreal has the best bagels & smoked meats in the world - now as a snobbish New Yorker, I raised an eyebrow. I have to try this classic deli serving smoked meats in order to corroborate. Even in the ungodly heat of this Monday afternoon the line was long - pro tip: go through the takeout counter & save you some time, they have some seating in the back. I tried the poutine Schwartz style - a classic poutine with a heaping serving of smoked meat. The meat was tender, smoky & not salty at all, but still flavorful. You can get your smoked meat fix here for sure, if you're a NYer craving a pastrami sandwich. It won't disappoint. Now, is it better than the delis back home? I plead the 5th.View more

Schwartz's is an experience, you line up to get in & often end up sharing a table as most of the tables seat 6 except for the counter. It's not a place to linger, you go in & get smoked meat the way they've been doing it for about 96 years & the only question you'll get asked about the sandwich is whether you want full fat or medium. Still it is for me, one of the best smoked meat sandwiches you can get, served on rye bread with mustard.View more

Had the smoked meat sandwich the meat was delish & the thickness of the meat was good too, good amount of mustard & slice of bread was a good size too, noticed though over the years they have continually shrunk the size of the sandwich & for what you get for the price now it's not even close to being worth it to get a sandwich from here, they literally give you one slice of rye bread cut in half & plop down an inch of meat on it & charge you 25 dollars, at least a few years ago they would give you 2 slices of bread for the same priceView more
