Great place for a sandwich…. These are soo big you'll be lucky to finish. tried the pastrami & the Turkey…. Pastrami was by far the better choice..

I was going to just grab a sandwich to go instead of dining in in the OG diner, but I'm so glad that I waited! I made a new friend at the counter & had a wonderful conversation with them. The service was also amazing & I loved the staff's banter!
The smoked meat sandwich is obviously amazing - considering the big pile of smoked meat sandwiched between the rye, the saltiness of the smoked meat was beautifully adjusted & wasn't overpowering the umami of the meat itself. Would come again in August if I had the time!!View more

Honestly, the place is pretty overrated. $15 for a smoked meat sandwich is kind of overpriced since the quality doesn't really seem exceptional. The service is just okay, nobody smiles or says hi. Overall just an okay placeView more

Quality of the smoked meat sandwich has certainly fallen from what I remember. They only seems to give the lean & dry pieces for the sandwich. It's not juicy at all but chewy & lacks flavor. The bread is also very basic. Yes its still an iconic place but don't get the sandwich...the plates are better because you can choose to get juicier better quality pieces.View more

Lovely food, great flavor you can choose the smoked meat to be lean which tends to be dry, medium fat or full fat. The flavor of the full fat sandwich is juicy. Very flavorful. The atmosphere is buzzing, you can sit at the bar or the tables which seat 6 at a time. There are about 10 tables. The place was packed & the service was speedy.View more

Wow, just WOW. I still can't believe how incredible a huge hunk of meat between simple bread could taste. Seriously, this sandwich has given me a legitimate reason to come back to Montreal.

The worst smoked meat sandwich I've ever had in Montreal. Dry, crumbly overly salty meat, soggy pickle, weird cole slaw, greasy fries . Just horrible. Three servings cost over $80. Not what it used to be. Go to the Platesu.

Food is okay. Meat was not as tender as everyone was saying. Flavour of the meat yes it was delicious, just the right amount of spices. Portion was a good amount. Try the pickels, they good. Server was busy & got our order wrong. First impression wasn't that good. Had a smoked meat sandwich somewhere else(SMP) the next day & the meat was perfectly tender there. Small dining area at Schwartzs im sure its crazy busy. Restrooms are tiny & dirty.View more

BEST SANDWICHES!!!!! These guys have one of the best smoked meat sandwiches I've ever had, definitely worth the trip to go down to Montréal. This place is a deli, & is decorated as such, the tables & seating make the experience very intimate with other people. The sandwiches are worth the money that you spend on it, you get a thick sandwich that's heated up & fills you up.
The server who took my order did speak both English & French, which is great if you speak either language & want to travel here. I did take an Uber to this location, I can't guarantee what the parking situation is like in this area.
This deli also has a separate room that has their products on display that you can purchase to bring home with you! I did end up purchasing a slab of their smoked beef, there are instructions on the package that I can heat up later.
If you're ever in the Montreal area, this needs to be on your bucket list of places to go & eat at! Worth your time to come & check out. Worth your money, too. Highly recommend!View more

I've procrastinated on trying this famous, touristy restaurant for a few years now so I decided to finally cross it off this winter while the lines aren't as bad, because they get crazy in the summer when the city has more visitors & it isn't painful to be outside. I came solo to minimize my wait as much as possible & slid almost immediately into the bar which was pleasing.
Since majority of the people come here for the smoked meat, they are continuously preparing the meat so that they are served lightning fast. Service was not bad at all either. The atmosphere is old-school, feels like this place has probably looked like this for decades & deliberately to preserve the vibe. I'm not a conoisseur of smoked meat sandwiches, I'll usually order something else on other menus so I don't have a whole lot to compare this to. If this was a food I ate more often, I'd probably try to contest the mainstream claim that this is the best smoked meat sandwich in the city. But as it is honestly the best one I've eaten so far, I have to agree with the popular statement.View more

Don't be afraid of the crowd - the food is quick & so the table turnover is fast!
Some tables sharable, wouldn't come with a party of larger than 4 or 6 but easier to be seated with fewer. Sometimes you'll share tables (we were 4 & shared with 2 strangers at a table for 6).
Love a classic #4 smoked meat sandwich. You can get different cuts (lean, medium, fatty)
Looking forward to their 100th anniversary in a few years.

I've been looking forward to visiting Schwartz for sometime now. Unfortunately, my husband sandwich was better than mine. Sadly, mine was dry. Flavour was good, but yeah, it was a little dry. This is gonna sound blasphemous, but Costco Schwartz was better / juicier than the restaurant's . I might have to visit it again To see if it'll be better, but ngl.. I was a little bit disappointed. Still, it was an experience. People lining up, sitting next to people you don't know, & eating the famous smoked meat sandwich.View more

I recently ordered the famous smoked meat sandwich from Schwartz's Deli through UberEats, & I can now understand why there's always a massive line in front of their store! As new residents of the neighborhood, we've passed by countless times & were always curious, but after finally trying it, I can say it was absolutely worth the wait! The smoked meat was tender, flavorful, & perfectly seasoned, with just the right amount of spice. The bread was fresh & held everything together beautifully. Every bite was a delicious experience.
