Typical Italian family restaurant
I was immediately charmed with the warm feeling & on a Tuesday night, the place was PACKED!
Sadly, from beginning to end, my waiter, George, has been looking down on me with contempt despite my best efforts to be nice & convivial.
His attitude was Very disinterested, nonchalant even. He gave me a very Snooty service, although I could see he was giving an awesome service to the 3 Italian kids at the next table.
I ordered a bottle of Fontanafredda, (65$), tried to engage in a friendly conversation, as I am actually keeping a bunch of 2015's in my cellar to age…. Barely showed any interest.
Nonetheless, the Polpettes were very tender & the sauce very tasty.
I ordered the Veal Marsala with spaghetti Alio y olio.
The veal was very tender but so underseadoned.
The pasta, tragically was tasteless. Just an oily, overcooked, under seasoned mess, no salt, no pepperoncino, not even the slightest taste of garlic (half of the name of the pasta…), no parsley…. I barely touched it, I would have expected the waiter to notice but he didn't even ask.
I came here on a friend's warm recommendation, & I can see by the other comments that the service can make all the difference. Should my waiter have been more attentive, or given me a non scrupulous service, I am sure the kitchen would have fixed the issues.
I am leaving with my unfinished bottle & a take-out dessert that was almost thrown at me, with a feeling of disdain, a feeling that I actually wasn't welcome in the place. (Caucasian male, 45, solo traveller, not smelly or out of bounds, clean clothes)
Other than that, the price was extremely fair for what I had. The issues could have been minor if it hadn't been for the contempt of George.
Scarolies is comfort food. You can always count on it to be good. The pasta is good, the salads are good, the meat is good. It's always good, even when we take out, it's still good at home. The restaurant is always a bit too loud for my taste, but the service is always great & the food can always be counted on when you need some of Nonna's comfort!
This is a restaurant that really cares about its customers. Case in point: My wife felt that her main dish wasn't hot enough but didn't want it returned for reheat. She mentioned this to the waitress who immediately called for the manager, Spiro. Extremely understanding, he made amends to more than satisfy my wife. I think that this attention to detail is exemplary & shows a deep concern for the clientele. The food itself is also great & they are not stingy with the portions. Adding to all that, this restaurant has a wonderful & extremely enjoyable atmosphere. In difficult times, this place will always do well. Thanks!
Friday night dinner for three was really good. Our server, Natasha, was fast & very generous with the cheese. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The cocktails & martinis on the menu are all worth trying! The chocolate cake for dessert was rich, moist & decadent.

J aime bien le menu midi de Scarolies La soupe est tours excellente Les port ions généreuses & le pain chaud avec l huile d olive .Bon rapport qualité prix. LE DECOR EST UN PEU VIEILLOT mais cela me rappelle les années 70 chez Paysanno
This restaurant is just ok. The place is super loud, the drinks were absolutely awful, the so called'martini' tasted like juice & the mixed drinks were terribly made. The best thing I ate was actually the baguette. The salad lettuce was cut into huge pieces, the calamari & the sauce it came with were quite bland. Our main courses were mostly good (pizza, several pastas, chicken), the salmon dish was a bit bland, the chicken with cream sauce & cranberry came with pasta with tomato sauce which was an odd combination. Desserts were pretty good also. The service was great & I appreciated that they packed our leftovers for us unlike many restaurants that just give you a box.
Absolument délicieux!! Des entrées polpette aux calmars ou salade César, tout était excellent. Table d'hôte/poulet/carré d'agneaux/steak… & les portions sont extrêmement généreuses!! Que dire de notre serveuse très attentionnée & rapide, shout out at Emily!!! De nos jours avoir du aussi bon service se fait rare, faut prendre le temps de les encourager & remercier!! Hâte d'y retourne
Love to order the sauces to go that come with a baguette. Always a hit with the family!
We had booked a reservation for a large work party, but unfortunately half of our party cancelled due to unforeseen circumstance. The restaurant staff are very accommodating & polite. Our service was very prompt & our servers polite & professional. The food was delicious & the portions were very generous. Will definitely be returning here for personal dining!
