Review Summary

Sansotei Ramen is widely celebrated for its rich, flavorful broths and high-quality ingredients, with many patrons describing the Tonkotsu Black as a standout dish. The restaurant is frequently praised for its cozy, pleasant atmosphere and quick, efficient service, making it a popular destination in Montreal for ramen enthusiasts. While most diners have positive experiences and appreciate the welcoming staff who are often noted for their helpfulness and attention to dietary needs, a small number of visitors have encountered inconsistent service or occasional lapses in food preparation. Overall, it remains a highly recommended spot that balances an authentic, traditional taste with a comfortable dining environment.

I usually order their Tonkotsu black with thin noodles, but decided on their Miso black with thick noodles today instead. My noodles weren't fully cooked so I requested a new portion of noodles only (no big deal). They came back with a whole new bowl of ramen, all toppings included. I was surprised & also very grateful! They have a lovely staff & atmosphere, as well as a cozy interior design. I'm definitely sticking with my Tonkotsu black next time. Thank you for handling the issue with care ❤?

I've been a big fan of sansotei over the years & this was my first time at the Mackay location. Unfortunately, it didn't measure up. The tonkotsu black was bland - both the broth & the chasu pork lacked the full rich flavour I was used to & the noodles were slightly overcooked. The chasu is also sliced super think like a cold cut so the value is not there either. No one came to ask how we liked it. Maybe this is the sad reality with multiple franchises but I won't be returning to Sansotei again.

Had some really yummy ramen & fried chicken on a recent visit. Some of the best chicken I have ever tried & I enjoyed the thick noodles.

If this was on 10, I would give it an 8.8 but the 5 star rating on google isn't as panoramic. The fried chicken was life changing literally. Because I never knew there was non-greasy fried chicken. This one was amazing. The ramen bowls were also great & so well seasoned, I just found there to be too many noodles (better than having too little tbh) & they weren't really good. That would be the only downside of the whole experience. Everything else was amazing.

I definitely a visit to this location if you are craving for ramen in downtown Montreal. They have many options to offer & after trying a few, I can definitely say they are tasty & have me coming for more. It definitely has its misses in terms of the umami & the noodles, but all together, I can go in here whenever I have a craving for ramen & don't want to go too far away from downtown.

Great textured ramen noodle, flavourful broth though we were in search of something with a more intense flavour!

Milky tonkotsu broth was good. The yellow noodles were might favourite noodles. They are slightly curly, smooth & springy. The charsiu was the best of the ones we had tried on this trip.

We were being greedy. After a big Japanese lunch, we came across this ramen-ya. It has the similar Kinton Ramen feel - even similar metal cups? However our experience this time here compared to KR is very different. I love the yellow noodle that they use. It's a little curly, smoother & springy compared to some of the other ramen-ya that have more straight noodles. I don't know why not more noodle shop would use this type of ramen. The broth is more intense than KR for sure. A little more milky than Neotokyo which was already very good. The grilled charsiu was probably the best we had on this trip. The service was quick & efficient, but not much more engagement. That's ok. I respect that it's a place to have a quick bite. Apparently there are another 2 branches. Will have to try them next time.

Nice environment. The noodle soup is too salty.
