Amazing soup dumplings! We've tried the original pork, pork & snow crab & chicken - get the pork & snow crab!!!!!! There's a good variety of items on the menu including vegetarian. They even have some lunch specials for Monday to Friday. Food doesn't take too long to arrive & its so worth the wait! Come early or be prepared to wait - it's not a very big restaurant & they're busy.
We visited Sammi & Soupe Dumplings in Chinatown in mid-May 2026. This spot was kinda busy so we had to wait for a table to open up.
We ordered a steamer of 2 different soup dumpling flavours (extra $1 to split the flavours) & went with the Classic Juicy Pork ($12.99) & Pork, Shrimp, & Scallop ($14). The xlb have a thickish knot on the top but they were juicy on the insides.
Also had the Hot & Sour Cucumbers ($7.99) which were a bit spicy as well as crunchy. Luckily, the Pork & Cabbage Dumplings come in half-portion sizes because we were already full but wanted to try them out. They have that characteristic fried skirt. The filling were a bit small but they were plump.
Food was pretty good & I like they had lots of options as well as being able to order half/half flavours or half-sized potions.
Busy on a Friday evening & there was a waiting list. Worth the wait. Place had a buzzing vibe. Food was delish & the service very friendly. We had the pork & chive, shrimp, & chicken & mushroom. Finished with a red bean dessert (this wasn't that great but the rest made up for it).

Sammi & Soupe Dumplings are at the top 10 in the area of Montreal, when to try the Dumplings on a very busy Saturday morning & the waiting was around 20-30minutes depending on the party's size, the waiting was worth every second, by far best Dumplings we ever had!
The dumpling soups were amazing to eat especially on a cool & rainy day. Staff were super nice & informative about the different dumplings they offered. Just have to plan to go earlier to get table as it gets super busy.
We had a wonderful dinner at Sammi & Soupe Dumpling, a popular casual Asian restaurant located in Montreal. The restaurant's specialities are handmade soup dumplings (xiao long bao) & pan-fried dumplings (guotie). There are so many flavours available & you can even mix two flavours together (need to pay extra $).
We ordered 10 pieces of the Pork, Shrimp & Scallop Xiao Long Bao & 12 pieces of the Lamb & Coriander Pan Fried Dumplings. Both dumplings tasted delicious, appetizing & bursting with flavours. The restaurant is small but cozy & clean. Nice ambiance but can get a bit noisy during busy hours.
Honestly, the first time I came here was Aug 2025, & I wasn't that wowed by this place. We visited Montreal last week & craved soup dumplings, so I thought to give it a try again.
Ughhhh the pan-fried dumplings were delicious, & the lamb coriander soup dumplings were addicting & just bursting with flavour. The pork/chive XLB were good too, but the lamb coriander XLB are definitely the stars of the show.
There was a mix-up with the pan-fried dumpling, as a server accidentally gave our curry & beef to another table, so our server was super apologetic & professional. He gave us options: to take their order of pork & chive, or they can immediately start a new order of the curry & beef. Since we wanted to try the curry & beef & already had pork & chive XLB incoming, we elected for the latter option & our server completely understood. They came out super quickly.
We came at a busy time, but we were lucky & able to be seated in less than 10 minutes.
I ordered the shrimp soup dumplings & was disappointed with the shrimp dumpling because there was no soup in them. It was very dry actually & no pieces of shrimp only a shrimp paste . The. Pastry looked perfect but when I bit into them they were dry & thick. I expect a place that specializes in soup dumplings to have exquisite dumpling pastry. When one orders soup dumplings one expects a huge squirt of soup broth which is the whole point of these morsels. I have had them in New York & also in Taiwan & Vietnamese & these did not meet any minimal level of expectation. I noticed a lady beside me ordered soup dumpling s & a side of broth which would have probably saved my meal but this should not be necessary. The table on the other side of me ordered the fried dumplings & they looked good I admit.
The place was busy & turnover very quick. Service was very quick & polite. The decor is average & was clean so I'll give it that. But I was soooo looking forward to yummy soup dumplings in Montreal & this was a fail.
