My friend & I recently visited Rutba, & we had an absolutely amazing dining experience from start to finish. The food was outstanding, every dish was packed with flavour & beautifully prepared.
We started with the Samosa Chaat, which was the perfect balance of crispy, tangy, & savoury flavours. For our mains, we ordered the Lamb Biryani & Chicken Tikka, both of which were exceptional. The lamb biryani was aromatic, rich, & perfectly seasoned, while the chicken tikka was tender, juicy, & full of smoky flavour. We also enjoyed the Butter Naan, which was fresh, soft, & the perfect accompaniment to our meal.
What truly elevated our experience was the service. Sravani was incredibly warm, welcoming, & attentive throughout our visit. She worked efficiently despite being busy, made us feel genuinely cared for, & provided excellent recommendations that helped us choose some of our favourite dishes of the evening. Her friendly personality & professionalism added so much to the overall experience.
Between the delicious food, inviting atmosphere, & exceptional service, Rutba exceeded our expectations. We left completely satisfied & hiiiighly recommend to anyone looking for authentic, flavourful food & outstanding hospitality :)
The ambiance is quite nice especially with the open air concept. The service was really good, the waitress was very patient & helped us out. The food was where is it gets a bit muddy. The portion was quite small in my opinion. We got the butter chicken & the $50 meal for two & the portion size was diabolically small (the $50 plate is left in the photo + naan) There was also barely any chicken in both curries. The chicken tikka masala was fine taste wise. I did enjoy the samosa & butter chicken but everything else was just fine.
Our first visit to Rutba was such a delight - tasty food, cozy ambiance, & friendly service. We may have ordered a bit too much, but everything was so good it was hard not to.
The star for us was the Telangana chicken curry: bold flavors with curry leaves giving off a beautiful perfumed aroma. The lamb rogan josh was also a favorite.
We couldn't resist the Rasmalai Tres Leches dessert, which did not disappoint. The flavors of cardamom, rose, & pistachio in this tiramisu-style sweet were divine. A perfect way to end a wonderful meal.
The space is casual & comfortable, & the staff are attentive & kind.
We're already planning our return for the samosa chaat, one of their many butter chicken variations, & another round of that Rasmalai dessert.
Had really high expectations but unfortunately this place is just alright nice place nice people but it kind of felt like watered down Indian food for white people I mean it was ok but where was the vodka in my martini & the butter chicken tasted like it had more sugar than spice not bad but not good eithe
We were charged $45 per person, but the menu options were very limited across appetizers, main course, & dessert. There was no à la carte menu available either.
The appetizer portion was extremely small, although the taste was good. For the main course, there was only one chicken option. I requested my butter chicken to be spicy, but it came out quite sweet instead, which I genuinely didn't enjoy. The main course overall was not up to the mark.
On a positive note, the dessert was excellent & definitely the highlight of the meal.
Wasted $100 on valentines over the food we didn't like!
5/5 Stars - Hands down the best Indian food I've had in Montréal!
I recently visited this incredible Indian restaurant with my family, & it was an absolute standout experience from start to finish. The chef here is clearly very experienced & passionate - you can taste the authentic touch in every single dish. It's like having a master cook prepare a home-style feast with perfect balance of spices & flavors.
The naan was phenomenal - fresh from the tandoor, soft, fluffy, slightly charred on the edges, & buttery in the best way possible. We ordered garlic naan & plain, & both disappeared in minutes because they were that good! Paired perfectly with the curries.
Speaking of the curries, they were superb - rich, aromatic, & full of depth without being overwhelmingly spicy (though you can ask for more heat if you like). We tried the butter chicken, paneer tikka masala, & a lamb curry - all were flavorful, creamy where they should be, & the spices were layered beautifully. The portions were generous, & everything tasted fresh & made with care.
The atmosphere was warm & welcoming, making it ideal for a family outing. The staff was friendly & attentive, & they made sure our kids enjoyed their milder options too. No rush, comfortable seating, & the whole place felt inviting.
This is easily the best Indian restaurant I've come across in Montréal - authentic, delicious, & worth every penny. We had such a great time that we're already planning our next visit. Highly recommend to anyone craving real Indian flavors! Will definitely be coming back soon. ❤?
Went for mtl à table once & I really liked it. Then I ordered food from there again & it was so oily & average. The butter chicken was really sweet, the Bengali fish curry was blend but the fish was soft & good. The lamb rogan josh was not spicy. I'm bit disappointed..
Loved this Indian spot-4 stars for killer butter chicken, fluffy garlic naan, speedy friendly service, & unbeatable value! Bursting with flavor, though the wait was a tad long on a busy night. Still highly recommend for a tasty night out!
