This place is Amazing!
Service the second you walk in to when you leave 10/10 - so kind
Chai & coffee were yummy
& the food was so fresh
My favourite was the coconut yogurt bowl!
We brought our pup they gave a bowl of water for her, + there is a special puppy menu
10/10 place for dogs what can be said. It was mines birthday & they got a candle & sang for her & everything. The staff were all so kind & clearly love animals. We reserved lunch but it wasn't busy at all so unsure if needed, perhaps on weekends. Coffees are great & prices are fine. Interior is also very pretty & spacious. Lots of cute stuff for sale. 10/10 fries but would skip the Moroccan dish & just get the delicious grilled cheese
Ruby cafe exceeded my expectations in every aspect! The staff & atmosphere are amazing & I cannot even begin on the food & coffee, absolutely delicious. We had the grilled cheese chorizo, the BLT ruby & an order of fries. Everything came out timely, warm & most importantly delicious. My wife & I spent a week in Montreal for our first anniversary & brought our 5 year old shih tzu along for the journey & of all the delicious places we tried, we ranked Ruby Cafe #1 on our list.
The cafe was also very clean despite there being many dogs when we visited. We will definitely be back in the future!
I love the atmosphere. The coffee & food is great! My dachshunds love this place. Been there three times already. Totally recommend! Urfiee - Content creator 🐾☀?🩷
We visited Ruby's Montreal Coffee to celebrate our dog Tupper's birthday, & it was perfect. The place was very clean, the service was great, & the food was delicious. Tupper had an amazing time!
At Ruby Café, that cozy neighborhood spot where even dogs get their moment of fame (& maybe a bite of your croissant if you look away for half a second 😅).
One of those rare Montreal gems where the coffee's great, the food's homemade, & the vibe's as relaxed as your furry sidekick. #RUBYCAFEMTL #Montreal
So happy to find this dog friendly brunch place! Dogs are allowed inside. Our dog enjoyed his doggie menu while we got to enjoy our delicious brunch! Coffee drinks were great & I loved the cappucino art-paw. There is also a small fenced area by the parking lot, where our dog got to run around after his meal :) cannot wait to be back!
We came here a couple of months ago & loved the place-great vibe, pet-friendly, & decent food despite the higher price (well within the typical Montréal range). We were very eager to come back with the great first experience we had.
Unfortunately, our return visit was nothing like the first. Despite having a reservation, we were told to wait while our table (already empty but dirty) was prepped. No problem-we waited patiently nearby. But after 15 minutes with no update, I glanced toward the waiter (long light hair), & he responded with a look full of contempt, like a silent'What do you want now?'
Caught off guard, I polity asked what he meant & just for an update. He snapped back in French,'Ben, quoi? Qu'est-ce que tu veux?'-It was rude, & frankly quite shocking. We were politely waiting on the side, & we did not deserve that type of response in any way. When I reminded him he had asked us to wait, he just shrugged it off with no apology. It was disappointing & honestly super disrespectful.
Eventually, another staff member seated us-at the same uncleaned table. We were given a bottle of water but no glasses, & it took another 10 minutes to order. I honestly wanted to leave, but since we were sitting, I did not feel comfortable doing that. My food & coffee were underwhelming (though my partner liked his pancakes), & they forgot our dog's order until we reminded them.
The only bright spot was a new waitress who seemed kind & genuinely tried her best.
I rarely leave reviews like this, especially as someone who's worked in the service industry, but this experience was frustrating & disappointing. We won't be returning. I can very well understand a busy morning or fast paced environment…but basic respect goes a long way. No one should leave a café feeling dismissed or disrespected. Very unfortunate.
We visited this café nearly two months ago & absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was charming, perfect for brunch with our dog, & while the food was a bit pricey, it was well within the typical Montréal range.
Unfortunately, today's visit was a completely different experience-& not in a good way.
Despite having a reservation, we were asked by a male waiter (longer, light hair) to wait on the side while our table was being prepared. That was fine. However, the table-though empty-sat uncleaned for 15 minutes while staff attended to other guests. We patiently waited nearby, but there was no acknowledgment or update. Again, we completely understood, & we were just hanging out mingling with other dogs.
I eventually made eye contact with the same waiter… kind of wondering what was happening with the table. The waiter looked at me with a mix of contempt & irritation-like a silent'What do you want now?' It was unprofessional & completely uncalled for' -not the kind of tone or attitude you'd expect in any customer-facing setting. Surprised (& with an uncomfortable smile), I simply said,'Well… we just…?' Not even letting me finish my sentence, he responded sharply,'Ben, quoi? qu'est-ce que tu veux?' It was rude, & frankly quite shocking. We were politely waiting on the side, & we did not deserve that type of response in any way.
I reminded him that he was the one who asked us to wait for our table earlier- he just said ah! OK - still no apology or explanation. It was disappointing & honestly super disrespectful.
Eventually, another staff member showed ya the table-the same still-dirty table. A bottle of water was placed on it, but no glasses. We waited another 10 minutes before anyone took our order.
The food didn't make up for the poor service. My dish & coffee were underwhelming (though my partner did enjoy his pancakes). Our dog's order was also forgotten until we reminded them.
On a positive note, the new waitress who eventually served us was kind & clearly trying her best, which we appreciated.
Sadly, this return visit left us with a bad impression. We won't be coming back. A final note to that waiter: everyone has tough days, as I've worked many years in the restaurant business, I can very well understand a busy morning or fast paced environment…& I never make reviews like this… but this behaviour today got under my skin. Basic respect goes a long way. No one should leave a café feeling dismissed or disrespected. Very unfortunate.
