chicken(89) nata(45) potatoes(36) sandwich(34) sauce(22) portuguese(21) pastel de nata(19) pastel(19) salad(18)This is a staple on the Main for decades. This place has been producing some of the best ribs, rotisserie chicken, sausage, roasted potatoes as well as sides such as their amazing Cole slaws & salads. This is a restaurant that's not about eating in with table service & such. It's mostly about take out & having a quick bite at the stool counter while people line up to order food. The displays show enticing yummy food while you wait to be served & by the time it's your time to order, you now want a little of everything! I have had everything here, but I have to say that one absolute MUST is their Nata pastry. These are made fresh & usually still warm in their display leaving the pastry crust light & flaky & the filling (an egg custard like filling) smooth & creamy. I doubt you can only eat one - I certainly can't. So to the food. Ribs: large & meaty pork ribs are perfectly cooked & seasoned. Chicken: rotisserie is fantastic juicy & skin nicely crisp. Their chicken sandwich is near perfection for a simple light fluffy fresh bun filled with fresh chicken, allowing the chicken to be the star of the meal & it was fantastic. Roasted potatoes: perfectly seasoned & cooked perfectly such that they are creamy inside & slightly crisp on the outside. Sausage: not overtly hot nor spicy, however as you begin to swallow you can feel a low warm heat develop & it's just right. They are cooked well such that the casing is nice & snappy crisp. It's a very densely packed sausage & very firm. Roasted lamb & pork: scrumptious.View more
Natas are to die for! & that chicken sandwich is also excellent. You have to try this place, it's worth it!View more
The location is very central, the service is exceptional, & the food is fabulous. My family & I, tried a variety of foods & all there were outstanding. The dessert was wonderful, a true authentic Portuguese one. Do not hesitate to go & eat there or take out, the food is very good & you will not regret it. Enjoy like us! Kudos to Coco Rico hard working owner!View more
C'est une rôtisserie portugaise créée depuis 1970 à Montréal très expérimentée & meilleure je vous conseillé à visiteView more
The best. Perry chicken in town. I've been coming here for 30 years. Last time I ordered a white chicken sandwich with sauce & mayonnaise. It was fantastic.View more
Forget about the line at Schwartz, this should be the main attraction of this block. Had the 1/4 chicken meal & was perfect for a sunny day! Everything cooked perfectly & amazing price point! A MUST on your next trip in MontrealView more
We were going often before having kids. We rediscovered Coco Rico now that our kids are preteens, & our meat lover son adores eating here. The chicken sandwich is as good as we remember & always leave a little room for pasteis de natas to finish a fun & delicious meal.View more
Montreal's best kept Portuguese secret, hidden in plain view. To all of you lined up for Schwartz' (blocking the entrance to Coco Rico): ever wonder where the delicious smells are coming from? It isn't from the smoked meat. Coco Rico has the best, juiciest & most flavourful pork, chicken & chourico sandwiches in the city. Potatoes roasted with the juices from the meats. Delicious breads, even the day-old ones are worth the drive. & don't leave without a six pack of natas. Been eating here for 40 years - hope to keep doing so for another 40!View more
Massive serving size for the chicken poutine. Very good & served hot. Chicken was a bit dry but very good overall. Service was very niceView more
THE CHICKEN POUTINE? AMAZING! WOW. GO! IF YOU ARE ON THE MAIN IN MONTREAL, EAT AT COCO RICO & BE HAPPY.View more
Bad chicken sandwich. Greasy & low taste. Potato's are super greasy. The service is appallingly bad. Do not recommend.View more
View more
Delicious chicken poutine, potatoes, & natas. The owner is friendly as well.View more
fantastic pastei de nata. ask for the warm ones for that extra crisp flaky pastry & sprinkle cinnamon if you're into that!View more
We had two 1/2 chicken plates with salad & roasted potatoes. The chicken was perfectly cooked but was lacking flavour, it was bland. I asked for spicy sauce after a few bites but that didn't help at all. A bit pricy but I'm okay with that for the chicken plates but 6$ plus tax for 2 naya water bottles when you're dinning inside is not okay. Good service & good music. They also have a little terrasse on the side.View more
En plus d'être la première rôtisserie portugaise de Montréal c'est la meilleure ! Poulet fondant & juteux.
My last dinner on this trip to Montreal & I wanted Portuguese, something almost nonexistent back home (Calgary). I chose this place because it was reasonably close to where I was staying & had good reviews. I got the trio with the roasted pork sandwich, the roasted potatoes & I chose the carrot salad from among six options. The good: the carrot salad was fantastic! The somewhat good: some of the potatoes were melting perfection, but some were dry- since it's these potatoes that are endlessly extolled on here I expected better. They were good, but not great. Same with the sandwich. The meat was tender & tasty but rather meagre. The bread looked gorgeous but was a bit dry.View more
