Display Allchicken(89) nata(45) potatoes(36) sandwich(34) sauce(22) portuguese(21) pastel de nata(19) pastel(19) salad(18)Holy moly! Stumbled in there to get a family chicken meal. The food was great, though I must say. No joke, they gave me enough potatoes to end a 18th century famine. Like seriously, the bag was overflowing with potatoes. Not complaining, I love a good spud, but holy hell, who is going to eat 25lbs of little golden delicious, well seasoned, chicken fat absorbed goodness. It was so comical, my family ended up having a potato fight in our Airbnb. We'll likely get in trouble for the potato splatter on the walls but damn, that was fun. Will return!!!View more
Excellent chicken, great potatoes, very fast & courteous service. Prices are more than reasonable, bigger portions downright cheap. Loved this place & their food.View more
An absolutely insane amount of food for a small price. Enough to feed an army. The family meal gets you a full chicken (ours was a little dry), one of their salads (we picked chickpea + feta - delicious!), & probably 20 pounds of fries (!!) I would suggest their roasted potatoes which I took as a side & they were to die for. Overall $32 can get you enough food for easily 6 people.View more
We went to one of the more famous Portuguese chicken places & were really disappointed. We immediately went to Coco Rico (which I used to eat at years ago & remembered fondly) & had a WAY better experience. Don't sleep on Coco Rico. The chicken leg & potatoes are top-notch. People are great. Food amazing. Get a Brio.
Forget Ma Poulle blah blah blah. Go here instead.View more
I don't know what the history of this place is but it has the marks of a restaurant with tenure. Typical rotisserie menu featuring sandwiches & BBQ plates. Obviously the star of the show here is the meat, but they also have the best Portugese style roast potatoes I've had in Montreal. I love the texture of those balls of goodness, my favourite form of potato after the unbeatable french fry. Slim seating options so takeaway is likely a common option. Prices are good for these times especially for quality, freshly cooked food like this.View more
GOD BLESS THE FAMILY MEAL😭😭😭 potatoes are so good for some reason. I would go here for the potatoes alone. It's a small space & the line can be long at times but they're very efficient- it's like a conveyor belt. The staff are also happy to give recommendations & I appreciate that they're able to tell you about the ingredients & how things are cooked even though they may or may not be the ones doing the cooking. It's practically takeout only just because it's such a small store with minimal seating, but you might as well eat outside while the weather is good anyway.View more

I have been going to cocorico for almost 20 years & it's still the best place in Montréal For some of the most tender three Portuguese chicken in the city.
Service has always been absolutely friendly above & be on the call of duty. & half an hour before closing, I went in to have a chicken sandwich special - I never felt rushed, & the food was so fresh & so very hot. The chicken sandwich on a fresh roll, with extra sauce - medium, not too spicy, the home potatoes, & creamy coleslaw is my comfort food. I feel bad for the people who had ordered takeout & felt they were short changed, but I've made it a point to eat at the restaurant, & I've always had overstuffed buns with moist chicken breast & crispy skin. The Natas deserve a whole other review on their own - but just this to say, if you feel like you too hungry, take six of them to go - & your night will be complete :) I got to chat with one of the co-owners - who was a delight, bubbly & friendly, & we went down memory lane talking about how being a kid in the 1970s was such a privilege & so much fun. So that's how I ended my night with a full & happy belly & some wonderful shared laughter.
As much as I love Schwartz's, I say skip the lineup & walk up the street to Coco Rico. You'll be happy you did :)View more
I'm usually vegetarian but I broke it for this chicken sandwich...& I'll do it again. This was so delicious. The portugese bun with the downright succulent chicken & a lil shmear of mayo?! Simply perfect. The devil is in the details & I saw no evil here. Highly recommend. Potatoes & salads also splendid.View more
I've been going here for years & It has been a sure shot of me & my family. I'm taking the time to make this review because lately their portions are a lot more generous, their service is extra welcoming. Besides the chicken being so delicious & moist, their round potatoes just melt in your mouth. It's like visiting a little corner of Portugal in the lively city of Montreal 💫View more
Loved the chicken breast with roasted potatoes cooked to perfection with salad, delicious 😋 great service with smile 😁View more
Great Portuguese fast food. I've been going there for 35 years. It's the same good roasting chicken dripping on the potatoes you see roasting in the oven machines. Everything is delicious & they have the best natas. I always take a sandwich, I ask to add a red pepper & some smashed roasted potatoes with the sauce & épices.View more
This is a staple on the Main for decades. This place has been producing some of the best ribs, rotisserie chicken, sausage, roasted potatoes as well as sides such as their amazing Cole slaws & salads. This is a restaurant that's not about eating in with table service & such. It's mostly about take out & having a quick bite at the stool counter while people line up to order food. The displays show enticing yummy food while you wait to be served & by the time it's your time to order, you now want a little of everything! I have had everything here, but I have to say that one absolute MUST is their Nata pastry. These are made fresh & usually still warm in their display leaving the pastry crust light & flaky & the filling (an egg custard like filling) smooth & creamy. I doubt you can only eat one - I certainly can't. So to the food. Ribs: large & meaty pork ribs are perfectly cooked & seasoned. Chicken: rotisserie is fantastic juicy & skin nicely crisp. Their chicken sandwich is near perfection for a simple light fluffy fresh bun filled with fresh chicken, allowing the chicken to be the star of the meal & it was fantastic. Roasted potatoes: perfectly seasoned & cooked perfectly such that they are creamy inside & slightly crisp on the outside. Sausage: not overtly hot nor spicy, however as you begin to swallow you can feel a low warm heat develop & it's just right. They are cooked well such that the casing is nice & snappy crisp. It's a very densely packed sausage & very firm. Roasted lamb & pork: scrumptious.View more
Montreal's best kept Portuguese secret, hidden in plain view. To all of you lined up for Schwartz' (blocking the entrance to Coco Rico): ever wonder where the delicious smells are coming from? It isn't from the smoked meat. Coco Rico has the best, juiciest & most flavourful pork, chicken & chourico sandwiches in the city. Potatoes roasted with the juices from the meats. Delicious breads, even the day-old ones are worth the drive. & don't leave without a six pack of natas. Been eating here for 40 years - hope to keep doing so for another 40!View more
Delicious chicken poutine, potatoes, & natas. The owner is friendly as well.View more
We had two 1/2 chicken plates with salad & roasted potatoes. The chicken was perfectly cooked but was lacking flavour, it was bland. I asked for spicy sauce after a few bites but that didn't help at all. A bit pricy but I'm okay with that for the chicken plates but 6$ plus tax for 2 naya water bottles when you're dinning inside is not okay. Good service & good music. They also have a little terrasse on the side.View more
My last dinner on this trip to Montreal & I wanted Portuguese, something almost nonexistent back home (Calgary). I chose this place because it was reasonably close to where I was staying & had good reviews. I got the trio with the roasted pork sandwich, the roasted potatoes & I chose the carrot salad from among six options. The good: the carrot salad was fantastic! The somewhat good: some of the potatoes were melting perfection, but some were dry- since it's these potatoes that are endlessly extolled on here I expected better. They were good, but not great. Same with the sandwich. The meat was tender & tasty but rather meagre. The bread looked gorgeous but was a bit dry.View more
Very good fast food place. Most of the things they serve are delicious. I love their potatoes. Verdict : give it a try.View more
Just made peace treaties with my hunger by ordering not one, not two, but THREE types of Portuguese sandwiches: chicken, roasted pork, & chouriço-all on Portuguese bread slathered in homemade spicy sauce. I threw in some roasted potatoes & homemade fries for good measure. Because, why not turn lunch into a carb festival? 🍞🥔🍟 Oh, & washed it all down with a craft beer from Brasseur de Montreal because, hey, hydration is key! 😂🍺 #SandwichSmorgasbord #CarbLoadingLikeAChampView more
While walking around the neighborhood around lunch time we smelled delicious chicken from Rotisserie Coco Rico. We had to stop in! The two of us each got a chicken sandwich with pickles (one mild, one spicy with banana peppers), split an order of potatoes & each got one nata. The sandwiches were made with freshly made bread that was substantial enough to support the chicken but not too tough. The chicken was flavorful without being too greasy. The pickles were sharp & crisp & the pepper added flavor without being overly spicy. The side potatoes had a creamy texture with loads of flavor but not overly salty. The best part of the meal was the nata! They make the flakey crust & creamy center daily & have an optional dusting of cinnamon. After finishing our meal we got more to go. This was a nice quick stop in with bar seating available. I could see it being difficult to find a spot to sit if it's overly busy. The "spicy" sauce wasn't very spicy, but it was very tasty.View more
Grab yourself a Hot/Spicy chicken sandwich Make sure you ask for DARK MEAT, add peppers, spicy (it's their hot sauce) it's delicious Try their potatoes & chicken as well but that sandwich is great Again Chicken sandwich Dark meat Add peppers Extra spicy sauce Thank me LateView more

The chicken is great & delicious, but those potatoes, omg they're amazing! Had to do take out, took it home & heated everything in the oven, even the chicken can be reheated in its own bag it came in! & the natas for dessert! Couldn't help eating one even though I was full!View more
I keep coming back for over 15 years! The potatoes are just amazing, the chicken is good, the spicy chourico is great & the hot sauce in oil, is delicious 😋View more
The best Portuguese chicken I've ever had. Service was attentive. You must try the roasted potatoes they're to die for & the Portuguese custard tarts. Hubby & I were very impressedView more
Absolutely, THE BEST portuguese chicken I’ve had in Montreal! The chicken is cooked to perfection, still juicy af, with a delicious crunchy skin & spicy sauce to top it all off. & their roast potatoes are just the perfect size to be bite sized pockets of flavor & spice. The macaroni salad meant for mellowing your meal, pairs so perfectly well. Overall, one of the best dining experience in general.
& to top of it all off, their De Natas are also 10/10 some of the best desserts ever.View more
Great Portugese chicken & omg the potatoes are outstanding! Given the good price, I can understand the maintenance of the place is a bit dates but who cares, good food & friendly people are all we need :)View more
Ordered a family meal from uber eats. The chicken was very good & juicy, but I was extremely disappointed with the sides. The potatoes sent to me seemed old. The tomatoes in the family size salad were not fresh (resembling like they were about to go bad).View more
