This was the best Iranian restaurant that I have ever been to anywhere, & I am so excited to come back the next time I am in Montréal.
Everything we ordered was phenomenal from the Kalam Polo, to the Kookoo Sabzi Wrap, Ash Reshteh, & Ash Dooq. I also liked their Torshi. If I lived here I would be here every single week!
While I gave this place a 5 star review, I still wanted to share a few more thoughts. Overall, the quality of the food was very good for the price. We went as a group & ordered tahchin, baghali polo with lamb shank, karafs stew, & zeytoon parvarde.
I really loved the chicken tahchin. It came with a small bowl of chicken broth that you could pour over the rice, which made it even more flavorful. The chicken was well seasoned & tasted great. The presentation was also beautiful, topped with fried almonds & barberries.
The lamb shank was well seasoned too, but the taste was just average in my opinion. I have had better elsewhere. The karafs stew was well cooked & nicely thick & settled, but it had a seasoning, maybe a hint of cinnamon, that I did not enjoy as much. That is just my personal preference though.
The ash e dough was delicious & tasted exactly how it should. Unfortunately, the zeytoon parvarde was not my favorite as it had a slightly bitter taste.
This restaurant has that small, cozy & family affair type of place! Service is good. Overall food is good but not a 4.9. Mirza gazhemi & ash was very good. Kobideh was good too but the joojeh wasn't that great, it lacked a bit of flavour. Other dishes like tachin & gheymeh were also good but not a 4.9/5. Overall food is good but if you are used to Iranian cuisine, you might be a tad disappointed! & prices are decent for 2026!
This was a great find. The food was outstanding - ordered the lunch combo which was a delicious Ash-e Reshteh soup & Koobideh sandwich. The soup was filled with a delicious blend of fresh flavours & the Koobideh was also excellent. The prices are affordable & the service was very friendly. The place is newly opened & still needs some attention to decor, but that's a small detail when the food is so good!!
We enjoyed the ghorme sabji, chicken fesenjan, & the ash-e reshteh. Very good compared to other restaurants. Thank you! 😋
Un restaurant iranien avec des repas vraiment délicieux. J'ai mangé Ash Dough qui est une sorte de soupe un peu surette avec de yaourt & j'ai adoré. L'espace est très propre & le staff accueillant. Il faut sûrement y retourner.
Rice portion is more that enough, kebab tabehi & ash reshte taste just like homemade food
Just discovered a new Iranian restaurant in downtown Montreal - & I'm blown away! The food is incredibly authentic, the staff are warm & welcoming, & every bite reminded me of my mother's cooking. I especially loved their Ash Goje & all the stews - full of flavour & comfort. Everything is made from fresh ingredients, & the prices are very affordable. A true taste of home ! I highly recommend Shamdooni to everyone!
