Mastard is frequently described as a standout Michelin starred dining destination in Montreal, offering modern refined tasting menus that highlight local Quebec and Canadian ingredients with precise technique and inventive pairings. The setting is intimate and elegant, with attentive service and well-curated wine and non-alcoholic pairings that enhance the flavors without overpowering them. While most reviewers praise the quality, creativity and value, a few note small portion sizes in the multi-course format, occasional inconsistencies in service or wine timing, and the challenge of securing a reservation, but overall the experience is described as memorable, immersive and worth returning for again and again.
Incredible restaurant- not the kind of place I can afford regularly but for a super special occasion it was a fantastic dining experience. Each course was delicious & creative, & everyone on the staff was knowledgeable, attentive, & friendly.
On the whole, excellent food that is marred by gimmicks. Everyone who comes gets the "carte blanche" menu, meaning: no menu. You get the same tasting menu they are serving to everyone that night. That is the first gimmick. The send gimmick is that the food is served by the people who prepared the food, rather than by wait staff. While the food was prepared flawlessly & with mostly interesting recipes, the cooks were not as adept at explaining it as the professional wait staff I would expect at this level of restaurant. Our only issue with the food was that the peas were not fresh & that a couple of sauces were somewhat salty. In addition, coordinating service like this is apparently not possible. For our meal, wine pairings sometimes arrived before the food & sometimes after-- meaning that the food sometimes got cold while the wine was being presented & explained to us. On the whole, the experience left us cold, & we won't be back.

Bravo & merci!
It was ok. You know when the presentation exceeds the taste. It was as though everything was in a sauce & the food lacked the beauty of the actual ingredient flavours. At this price point all details need to be observed & the dishes were chipped. The service was ok. The wine pairings paired well, but weren't great wines. Overall when you are nearing the $200 per person after tip...you should come back wanting more. Aside from the dessert that is the only dish that I would have had more. Oh yes, & the main course a little more of the 2 inch in length piece of beef served. This restaurant was highly recommended but I unfortunately won't be going back.
This restaurant was such a great experience. It is not a pretentious restaurant. The food is incredible, & I really enjoyed the food journey. The amuse-bouche was a warm welcome, homey flavours presented in a fresh way. Every dish was very different, with great textures & very well balanced. I would love to go back there the next time I'm in town & try their new creations. Merci !
Top dining experience & a must go for anyone who enjoys dining at a restaurant that truly cares about perfecting all ingredients (including vegetables!) Staff was exceptional & we can see their care, professionalism & attentiveness. The chef was so friendly & truly love their craft. This was a GEM in our visit to Montreal & not to be missed. Unforgettable fine dining experience.
Had a wonderful experience here. Really warm & friendly service. Each dish was introduced by different members of the team. The tasting menu was seasonal & the dishes had a good balance between complexity, interesting preparations & ingredients everyone is familiar with.
Amazing !!

Loved everything about Mastard. The cocktails were phenomenal, I had the colada which was perfectly balanced & delicious. My husband had their green, herb drink Which was also absolutely delicious, very fresh. We started with an amuse bouche which was delicious. We added the wine pairings but just one since there was 12 oz of wine total (3 per course) & we wanted to have a cocktail as well without getting completely drunk. Splitting the pairing was the perfect amount & the wines were delicious - white which I normally don't prefer but perfectly paired. Everything was absolutely beautiful, well balanced & had exceptional flavor. I enjoyed every bite - I've dined at a lot of Montreal restaurants but this one took the cake. While it's expensive, it's completely worth it. The flavor, service, atmosphere- all wonderful. & the best part for me? You leave satisfied & not still hungry. We will definitely be back. Thanks for a lovely experience!
Loved everything about this restaurant. From the service to the food, everything was perfect. Price is very reasonable for the quality & amount of food served. Local ingredients with French inspiration.
Amazing dinner, absolutely wonderful progression of dishes, & super solid flavours & presentation. Service was a bit disorganized at arrival, we had resos for 8:30, showed up at exactly on time with a half dozen or so other customers showing up just after us. Had to stand awkwardly in the front for too long before someone came to speak with us. Took 5+ minutes to acknowledge & seat us (2-top) even with a table available. This was only only disappointing part of the service, & took until 9pm before we could order. Understandable with many people arriving, but it was the first impression & didn't feel organized. Everything else was spectacular. Loved having different people from the kitchen bring out different dishes. Wine pairing was completely worthwhile. Stellar dinner & experience, totally worth it & would recommend Mastard very easily to my friends.
