Restaurant Makoto specializes in an authentic fusion of Japanese and Korean culinary traditions, anchored by high-quality tabletop BBQ preparations. Guests grill marinated meats, such as bulgogi or galbi, alongside fresh seafood and seasonal vegetables directly at their tables. The menu features a diverse selection of traditional side dishes and prepared entrees that reflect classic flavor profiles from both cultures. Minimalist decor creates a focused environment designed specifically to highlight the interactive nature of the cooking process. A strong emphasis on raw ingredient quality ensures that every sear and seasoning remains consistent with traditional preparation methods. This establishment serves as a dedicated destination for individuals seeking a collaborative meal centered around the heat of the grill and the depth of fermented spices.
Makoto earns praise for generous portions, flavorful dishes such as bibimbap and katsu, a warm ambiance, attentive and friendly service, and good value, with many noting the place handles large groups well and that portions are satisfying; some regulars miss items from the previous menu like udon, sundubu jjigae, okonomiyaki and certain salads, and a few reviews mention sides or dishes arriving cold or tasting less tasty since the changes, but the overall impression remains positive with consistent quality and a welcoming atmosphere.
I really liked the free salad & tteokkochi. The tempura udon's broth was unfortunately a bit flavorless to me, the noodles were cooked nicely, tempura were perfectly crunchy & crispy & it came with a decent amount of other toppings. But the lacking broth really made it disappointing.

I was disappointed that I could not taste the fish eggs in the Al-bab. My son did warn me, but I really wanted to try the dish. Unfortunately, he was right.
Next time, I will order the Bibimbap.
My son LOVES Makoto. It's his favourite Korean restaurant.

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié la qualité (& les quantités) de tout ce qu'on a commandé, le raffinement des sauces, y compris les vinaigrettes des salades. Je suis venue deux fois depuis dimanche.
Bravo!

I've been to Makoto once before, & I'm pleased to say they lived up to my positive memories of it. The ingredients are fresh & the food is tasty. The ambience is modest but cozy. It is nice to have a Japanese restaurant that offers more than your typical sushi & teriyaki combined with their Korean offerings which go beyond the BBQ offerings.
I do not know whether or not it is authentic... but I'm more interested in good food & a nice evening... I'll be returning here.
Absolutely delicious food, cooked with care & so much skill. I had the tofu teriyaki & my girlfriend had the beef, we were both blown away. The agedashi tofu was delicious as well. & the Tteok-kochi was perfection! Crispy outside, chewy inside, perfectly spicy. Miso soup & a fresh & delicious salad come with every meal. This place is such a find! Super yummy, caring service, & affordable food. We can't wait to go back.
