Le Makoto is a restaurant that offers variety. The menu has a little of everything, traditional Korean and Japanese favorites. The food is tasty and affordable!
Start with an original cocktail, they are really fun! You can then order the most delicious and comforting spicy pork soup and an amazing fish tempura. The Deung Gal bi is unforgettable, easily the most tender and juicy that you have ever tried. They use quality ingredients that are full of unique flavors. A very clean place with a good atmosphere and friendly service that is also very fast. Honestly one of the best Korean and Japanese restaurants in Montreal!
Makoto draws praise for its welcoming staff, quick service and cozy ambiance, with favorites like bibimbap, kimchi jjigae, tofu dishes and teokkochi earning frequent compliments. The food is often described as flavorful with generous portions and reasonable prices, and miso soup and a simple salad come with meals. Several reviewers express disappointment with menu changes, missing items such as sundubu jjigae, beef seafood udon, fried chicken udon and the salad with ginger vinaigrette, hoping for their return. Some diners find the new side dishes less appealing and the chicken breading crumbly. A number of guests hope the restaurant will reintroduce elements of the old menu while still offering new options. Delivery experiences have shown that old versions can be accessed through the restaurant's ordering options, which helps bridge dine in and takeout. Overall Makoto is seen as a reliable, affordable option with tasty dishes and friendly service, though menu revisions have divided opinion and left regulars hoping for a balance between nostalgia and new ideas.
Le cadre est vraiment chaleureux, le staff se donne à mille % & puis ben la nourriture, c'est juste un régal! Puis comme si ça suffisait pas, le rapport qualité-prix est excellent! On reviendra, ça c'est certain 😊
I really liked the free salad & tteokkochi. The tempura udon's broth was unfortunately a bit flavorless to me, the noodles were cooked nicely, tempura were perfectly crunchy & crispy & it came with a decent amount of other toppings. But the lacking broth really made it disappointing.

I was disappointed that I could not taste the fish eggs in the Al-bab. My son did warn me, but I really wanted to try the dish. Unfortunately, he was right.
Next time, I will order the Bibimbap.
My son LOVES Makoto. It's his favourite Korean restaurant.
